“Not a fan of the druggie that was outside but I guess that’s Portland so I won’t hold that against you. Don’t like how I got four orders but not a single fortune cookie. Do like that you all had teriyaki chicken my favorite only get to go here once to year because you’re so far away from my location. But keep up the good work“
“Outstanding restaurant. People who run this place are kind and cool and make some of the best beef teriyaki I’ve ever eaten. Not only that, but when I’m done eating I feel unusually good. I feel strong in my bones like I can climb peaks with the agility of an ibex. But I also feel totally at peace, like time is an ocean that suddenly stops and becomes a beautiful, cerulean mirror of the sky, and I’m dancing on that mirror with Chinaxpress’s orange chicken in my hands and I’m asking you please to join me in the dance. Please join me and dance on an ocean of sky and time and orange chicken, please my friend delight in this life we lead now, right now. Don’t let this world fool you with its myriad illusions of money and fame and propriety, your life is the most precious thing because it is yours and even the rarest gems in the earth pale in comparison to the beauty of your eyes. So dance, and in dancing see that holding onto life is a phantom hand grasping at smoke. 10/10 would hit the drive thru again.“
“Wow! This place is stunning. The atmosphere is very peaceful, and the food is innovative and delicious. I ordered the sichuan numbing wings and they were super fun, especially with a nigori sake. I ended up getting the veggie ramen with a side of sambal and it was absolutely delicious. Will be thinking about this meal for a long time!“
“The best Chinese restaurant in Maine, NH, or VT. Detail in every dish, this is Sichuan food from the owners hometown in Sichuan, not the more popularized Sichuan cuisine found in most of China.Note: there are only a handful of places in Maine, NH, or VT to get Chinese food, the rest is American Chinese, it's not the same. Portland Maine has most of them.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan dishes that are supposed to be that way. Totally traditional, no modification needed.Dietary restrictions: Nearly all restrictions can be met by ordering the correct items.Parking: No parking for restaurant. You must fight for parking in downtown Portland. The restaurant is in the center of Portland. There is a lot of street parking, but always very hard to find a spot, especially in summer, weekends, and dinnertime.Kid-friendliness: Very friendly towards children, but no children's menu. Order fried rice for kids is my recommendation, then offer small bits of other food.“
“First time having dinner at Zen Chinese Bistro and we loved our meals!! Delicious flavors, excellent portions and wonderful customer service. Great selection of cocktails and beers. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant on the inside. We highly recommend and will be one of our go to Chinese restaurants in Portland!“
“ENJOYED A FINE MEAL OF HOT AND SOUR SOUP WITH DELICIOUS BEEF FROED RICE WITH MY GIRLFRIEND.INITIALLY WE HAD STOPPED ON TO USE THIER SANITARY FACILITIES AND WE GRATEFUL FOR THE FINE MEAL WE GOT FOR THIER USE .Dietary restrictions: OFFERING SWEETNERS WHICH I PREFER OVER SUGAR TO HELP MY METABOLISM MORE THE FOOD I DID SEE LOOKED SATISFYING & NUTRITIOUS .“
“It's been 5+ years since I've been here... And it was just as DELICIOUS as I remembered it. Back in town for work, I decided to stop by and grab a seat at the bar. A quick way to grab dinner if you're alone or you and your plus one don't want to wait for a table. I ordered the Peking duck buns, bacon fried rice and Shanghai soup dumplings for myself. It was all devoured, minus some rice to take back with me. Service was great and prices still reasonable across the board. Highly recommend if you're visiting and want to order Chinese!“
“Being from Boston. It's hard to find good Chinese food up in Maine.... Just that normal old school yummy Chinese. Well.... Look no further, hands down the best non-specialty normal Chinese food. You're going to get exactly what you're ask for It's going to be cooked phenomenally and the flavors are going to be on point. I've been to every Chinese food place in southern Maine. This IS the spot“
“Smaller than I thought for dine in, only a few booths. You order from the counter and sit until they bring you your order. The food came out fast and was delicious. Portions were good. Several people in and out getting takeout from this place just after 5 pm. I'm pretty sure we were the only dine in while we were there.Parking: There were spots on both sides of the building (multiple businesses). I actually parked in the back, not realizing the entrance was on the other side.“
“My wife and I honeymooned in Maine back in 2022. We absolutely loved the staff and the food here. They also gave us a free appetizer and dessert since it was our first day honeymooned. Absolutely wonderful people and we can't wait to go back!“
“Very quiet and cozy spot with delicious Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese cuisine. The food is always consistent with generous portions that don't disappoint! Great for dine in or take out. I highly recommend this place!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free, and vegetarian options“
“Best Chinese we've had!! We ordered a Pu Pu for 2 and Shrimp Lo Mein - didn't even have a chance to snag a picture because we dove right in (the aroma alone was mouth watering). The Crab Rangoons are scrumptious, I'm not a fan of crab meat but I'll eat a whole order of these, that's how good they are!!! Will definitely be back.“
“My friends and I stopped for a birthday supper. It was our first time here. The food and drinks were fantastic and absolutely beautiful! Our server was very nice. I started my lenten journey with the spicey shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce and I was able to special order. My friends really enjoyed everything! Great experience!!“
“Not sure where Melanie got her food but it certainly wasn’t from this establishment. The owners are a husband and wife team that work 24 seven and put out amazing food and the customer service is excellent. I am not looking forward to the day they retire. My children grew up with them and they knew them by name and still do 20+ years later. Mrs Winslow?“
“Is it the most ‘authentic’ Chinese food you can get? No. But if you’re looking for extremely tasty American Chinese food with speedy service China taste fits the bill. It’s our go-to for dinner after a terrible day of work or after a long flight home.“
“Had take out was unbelievably delicious only thing was my order had beef teriyaki in two different dinners but wasn’t given. Simple mistake but for an order of over $100 they should have made sure it was all there also no fortune cookies were provided. The food that we did get was outstanding though. Will return but check before I leave that everything i paid for is there.“
“10/10 5/5 perfect score all the way around. I’m new to the area and was recommended to try evergreen for Chinese. The portions are massive you order a large guess what. You get a large. They don't skimp on the food and you can order to your liking for a little extra. Huge fan of the ability to make things spicy on a 1-10 scale. My go to is the House Special Cantonese Noodles 10 on the spicy scale I could eat it all week. The wonton soup and crab rangoons are to die for. Thank you guys for the amazing food!!!Parking: Parking varies usually about 3-5 spaces open.“
