We are new to Ann Arbor and are looking for a great Mexican restaurant. We went on a Thursday evening and had a reservation but there were only a few occupied tables. The service was fabulous, everyone friendly, helpful and personable. We liked they made each Margarita from scratch to order. It was still too sweet for our taste but that seems to be the local preference. Guacamole was the starter and it was great. I have been to Tio's many times before and usually really enjoy! It's better value and a bit more authentic than the other taco options on Liberty, and I like that they offer their tacos a la carte so you can mix and match. Good margaritas too - not too sweet. Unfortunately my lunch here yesterday was disappointing. I came in because I saw recently that they added Goat Birria tacos to the menu and I wanted to try them out. Sounds amazing. My fiancé and I went here last night and it quickly became our new favorite "comfort" Mexican restaurant. The margs are delicious and not overly sweet, the portions are huge, and the flavors were serendipitously tasteful. I noticed there were plenty of vegetarian options too (including the wet burrito pictured below). The service was quick and excellent. Unrelated to food, but the murals are also really cool and contribute to the overall cozy atmosphere of this place.
