“As a Bangladeshi here in Grand Rapids, I am always on the lookout for South Asian restaurants in town! Madras is a new Indian spot that my parents (the ultimate South Asian food critics) have been raving about since they opened - so I finally had the chance to try it out myself! I was so satisfied by this meal. I thought everything we got was full of flavor, and you can tell that the food is being freshly made. We started out with the Masala Dosa, Gobi Manchurian, and the Chicken Pakoda. Soo good! The dosa had the perfect crispiness, my mouth is watering as I write about it And the spice level was also perfect! For entrees we got paratha with the butter chicken and kadai chicken. Altogether, this was more than enough food for the four of us. The chai and the carrot halwa were also the perfect combination to end the meal. The restaurant is clean and the service was extremely attentive and efficient. I look forward to coming back and trying more from the menu!“

“Excellent service - all the staff were very attentive. Food was delicious. Great variety. We had the tandoori sampler. My husband had the vegetable biryani with tons of veg in it. My Shahi paneer was flavorful and delicious. Garlic Naan was soft and very garlicky. We would happily go back “

“Came here with my fiance for dinner after Craig's Cruisers. The service was a bit confusing, our waiter was nice but he just randomly gave of a bottle of Coke. Ok ? But hey, we'll take it!I really like the spices that are on the menu, it's cute! I got the lamb saag. That was good! That spinach-y green sauce compliments that lamb well, and it's a generous amount of food for a reasonable price. My fiancé's chicken dish was delicious too ?? You can't typically go wrong with Indian food, and that was definitely true here. We all enjoyed our entrees.“

“Not only is it the best Indian restaurant in town, it’s my favorite restaurant overall in town. The ingredients are legitimately fresh, the food has so much flavor and the owner is very friendly. If you've never been here or never tried Indian food before you won’t be disappointed. Recommend the chaat samosa, cheese naan, tandoori chicken biryani or tikka masala. 10/10“

“Went to Pals with some friends, I turned out to enjoy it a lot overall. The food was fresh, fast, and full of flavor, and relatively cheap. I can't vouch for authenticity but I can vouch for taste! However, the dining area and especially the bathrooms were quite dirty. The mens bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, which was unsettling. Maybe the womens bathroom was spotless! There are two TVs in the restaurant, which are playing sometimes risque music videos with music that was a little loud for my tastes. The front of house seemed very understaffed, the waitress doubling as hostess and tripling as doordash gopher.Overall i would go again and recommend, but wish they would address some of the issues that distract from the delicious experience.“

“We got the chicken chili mono, goat vinadaloo, garlic naan, and chicken tikka. All were good, but the momo was outstanding. The vindaloo was good, but had several pieces of bone in it, so just be aware of that. The chicken tikka had excellent flavor; you got a nice smoky flavor, but it was really quite dry which I didn't mind, but also be aware of that. The naan was very good but you didn't get much of it.“

“While I have not been to any other Indian restaurants in Grand Rapids, I can say that this one is a must! I went a couple weeks back and the place was empty. My first thought was..."uh oh." It was, however, outstanding. The multi-talented server/cashier/busser/etc. was friendly and answered any questions we had. I had the garlic naan bread and the Dedicated Vindaloo. Many dishes (perhaps all) allow you to pick your spice level (4 of them). I went for the second hottest and it was very spicy but complex. I was still able to taste other things outside of just the hot pepper flavor. At the end of the meal, the chef came out to let us know that he was newer and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meals. WE DID! I ate the leftovers cold the next day and they were still outstanding. PLEASE GO VISIT!“
