I probably hadn't been here in 35 - 40 years. How the place has changed! Had group of 12 here for a birthday lunch. Food was terrible. I had a small square pizza. Ate a couple slices, cause I was hungry, took the other 2 home. I threw them away as I walked in the house. And I'm a pizza lover, I've probably never thrown pizza. The Gathering Place has been open since 1936. I've been going for many many years but no longer live in Michigan. Apparently it is under new ownership but I couldn't tell a difference. It's a total dive but has amazing character. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The pizza here is amazing if you're a fan of Detroit style. The edges/crust are super crisp and cooked to perfection. Prices are super reasonable, too!

Came out to watch the Lions play on a Monday night. It was moderately busy but the one bartender/waitress did a spectacular job making sure that we were taken care of and that our food came out at a reasonable time (we told her we were hungry). If you’re looking for a good dive bar, this is the place to be. We had the Hawaiian pizza and it was good!
