“"From the moment I stepped into The Crossing in Clayton, I knew I was in for a remarkable dining experience. The exceptional service began with Sunny, who skillfully handled my reservation, and continued with David's warm welcome at the door. My server, Joshua, was simply outstanding, ensuring that my visit was nothing short of perfect. What truly set this experience apart was the meticulous attention to dietary restrictions for both me and my guests. It's rare to find a restaurant that genuinely cares and accommodates with such grace. The meal was unforgettable, leaving me talking about it for weeks. But the cherry on top was a chance encounter with Joseph on the sidewalk days later. His genuine follow-up about my experience showcased a level of care and knowledge that is unparalleled in the industry. The Crossing in Clayton is not just a restaurant; it's an experience where the staff goes above and beyond, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking culinary excellence and exceptional service."”
“The food was overall good but not great or life changing. We are big fans of Vicia and were hoping for the same complexity of flavors but did not find it in all the dishes here - only some of them.We ordered:Gougeres - cheese fondue and popovers. Fondue was good but the popovers were kind of doughy and dense.Beef tartare - fine, not great - the tartare was a bit flavorless and flat despite being served with a jusFrench onion soup - good! No complaints.Mussels - the star of the show, 5/5, some of the best mussels I’ve hadPain perdu - a carmelized dessert with toasted brioche and Clementine’s ice cream that was delicious.Special shout out to the mocktail Papillon. I don’t like when mocktails are just fruit juice but this one really had the complexity and slight bitterness of a cocktail.Overall we would come back but there are flavor profiles of some dishes that could be elevated to make this a 5/5 meal.”
“Came to this place after work last Sunday and I was astounded!!!The service was great, I love business that incorporate European work style. The Baccala and the Spring Lamb were fantastic! The server offered a great red wine pairing for both dishes.Wish I could’ve gotten dessert but I had somewhere to go but I will be back!!!”
“Love this place! Celebrated a birthday with a cute breakfast turned brunch. The drinks were delicious. The ambience to die for. It is completely IG/TicTok worthy. And the staff was so incredibly nice. Our waiter was outstanding. Probably some of the best genuine service I’ve ever received. I wish I could remember his name to give him his credit. I only deducted a star because they were out of the ingredients dish my friend wanted and the bacon and cheese potatoes were a bit over charred. But overall the food was delicious.”
“We went with a richer family member and the staff was very polite and helpful but it felt as if we were less important as if they cared less about us based off of how we were dressed. But the food was decent with nice ”
“We walked in without a reservation while traveling. They found a table for us. It was a very nice table and the service was amazing! They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! The food was great and if ever in St. Louis again, we will be back.”
“The best restaurant in Saint Louis. The food is so flavorful. I tried the gnocchi and the tofu dish and it was the best tasting dishes of those type I have ever had. You might require a reservation and the space is a bit limited, but the staff is very accommodating.”
“Wonderful Valentines dinner at Il Palato - food was excellent and service top notch! The roasted chicken and linguini with shrimp, clams, and scallops entrees were delicious Especially nice that the restaurant offers its regular menu rather than an overpriced) “special” menu for the evening. Highly recommend it and look forward to returning soon!”
“We walked in last night at 8 pm and we were greeted with big smile and that sat us with in 5 minutes. Food was wonderful and staff amazingly accommodating! Loved it!”
“They have bookshelves of kids books.Easily the best burgers in town.Fantastically simple menu with lots of flavors.Something for everyone.Great beers on tap.Sports of the moment on ambient TV's.Hands down the best prices for any place to eat out!!!Feed a family of four fully for less than 50 bucks...But you're going to want to leave a big tip, the servers are top-notch and always looking out for you!”
“We went to Bao bc of searching an Asian good eat, we found BAO and gave a try. Best decision, the food is so good, atmosphere is great, little dark but it great for night out. The design is simple but characteristic unique. The sever was a nice introduce us a very good sake cheaper but pairing very well with our food. Definitely will be back whenever we have chance.”
“Third time and have yet to be disappointed. I've tried all forms of ordering now. Did delivery today and the sandwiches arrived still warm and fresh. The special was amazing (sweet potato hammich) I think they should keep it on the menu! The ham was so flavorful and sliced perfectly thin. The cookie is unreal. Underbaked to perfection with giant chip-discs of chocolate. I've also dined in and the casual atmosphere is perfect for a quick lunch during the week or a casual catch up on a Saturday afternoon. This is for sure going to be in my regular rotation.”
“Complimenti! My three teenage kids and I were seating promptly. Showing up without a reservation, we were kindly offered seats at the “cook’s counter”. I sat directly in front of the warm wood burning oven and my son was completely enthralled by the atmosphere of the kitchen. Although our bread was more American than rustic Italian, it served as a conveyor of some of the best olive oil I have tasted in a while. Ingredients were fresh and flavors gustoso. Our pizzas, GF pasta, and salads were served timely and warm. Despite showing up without a reservation, we were treated with kindness and true Italian hospitality as complimentary “arancini” or risotto rice balls were offered as compliments from the kitchen. My daughter ordered the 4 cheese pizza and was noticed by the staff that the cheese was too strong for her liking. The manager came out personally and spoke to her with kindness and a sincere desire for her to walk away from her dining experience fed and happy. We had been traveling all day and our stop in Clayton for a bit of respite before another day of driving turned into an evening my children and I will remember largely due to our dining experience at la Pastaria! Complimenti allo chef!Dietary restrictions: They do substitute any non stuffed pasta with GF noodles. Salads are very fresh.”
“I was staying nearby and got the chance to walk over to Colleen's for breakfast before starting my day at work. I was warmly greeted despite all the snow on the ground at the time. It didn't take long to receive my order of a chocolate croissant and Americano with vanilla and half and half. The Americano was good but I've had better. The chocolate croissant was very flaky and delicious but I really wish I would of asked if they could heat it up a bit. That would of been the chef's kiss!”
“Louie was amazing!! The food and service were the best part! Our waitress Emma went above and beyond!! She took the time to explain the dishes and be super personable!! Ask for Emma, she’s the best!!!”
