While the food was good, it was sub par to the pricing and the service level was somewhere below that of a truck stop buffet. It took 10 minutes to get water, another 15 (and a nudge to the wait staff) to get our cocktails. If an establishment wishes to set their pricing at a premium level, and they want return visits, Ophelia's needs to elevate their staff & dishes as well. Our lesson was learned.

We love Ophelia's! Their food is excellent, never been disappointed, the help is always friendly & makes customers feel wanted & appreciated & it's a great restaurant close to home! We highly recommend this restaurant! It's a 5 star for certain!

I felt the food was good and the service was up to par, although at times the young server was a little too friendly (casual) but did a good job. Our cocktails, 2 of which were off the menu, were very sweet and I'm not sure there was any alcohol in them. We each ordered another, I ordered a Hurricane and she got a vodka gimlet.... And again, no alcohol in them. The food would be worth returning for, but skip spending the extra money on drinks.

Here for KCRW: Had French Onion soup, Chicken & Shrimp Pasta, and Pistachio Carrot Cake. The pasta was good but honestly not my favorite. Carrot cake was amazing. My cousin enjoyed the beef dish. Not giving 5 stars because I felt the KCRW menu online was deceptive. 3-Course dinner was listed at $40 per person but they were charging $6 for dessert. Even the menus were conflicting in-person they said 3-Course $40 at the top but above the 3rd course it stated an additional $6.My party thought this must be a typo from the lunch menu. We proceeded to order for three courses and were surprised to find desert was an additional $6 when the bill came out.I certainly would not have chosen to eat here had I known 2 courses were $40.The server made it right with management, but it really did feel deceptive considering every other restaurant week place I visited over the years is very clear with their menu and prices up-front.

Came here for Restaurant Week 2024. I always drive past this place and wondered about it. I'm glad my wife and I stopped in. The restaurant layout was nice and looked to be a great space for date night. Our server, Steve, was kind and super helpful. My RW items selected were the French Onion soup, Chicken & Shrimp Pasta, and Pistachio Carrot Cake. My wife ordered the Citrus Grilled Salmon. The food tasted great. The salmon had a nice crisp bite on the exterior but maintained a nice level of flakiness. The chicken and shrimp pasta had a delicious creme sauce that tied the dish together. I'd definitely go back.

This review is about the restaurant only. We live in Independence so we haven’t stayed in the Inn although it is something we have talked about.Drinks - amazing! They flavor infuse the alcohol themselves and they pour heavy (strong drinks☺️). The cocktails are garnished simply but in a charming way.The staff is better than average- attentive without invasive. Professional, uniforms are classic and they are always clean. The finishing touch would be if the boxed take-home for diners. The real treat is the food! I’m a picky eater but rarely request something alterations because everything they make is freshly prepared, beautiful, and delicious!! We would really like to have the corn fritters and lemon custard tart back on the menu but also we love trying the new options. The chicken chorizo appetizer is so freaking delicious! It is obvious that there is a true chef in the kitchen. I’m proud to have this level of dining in our home town.About the area around the restaurant/ inn: President Harry Truman was from Independence, Mo. Right across the street from Ophelia’s is Clinton’s Soda Shoppe. Harry’s worked there when he was 14 yrs old. On the opposite corner sits the Historic Court house where Harry was a judge. At the north end of the block is the historic jail which is said to be haunted. Independence, Mo tap water was voted the best tap water in the country. It’s naturally soft as it still comes from a spring. There are several little shops on the square (the blocks around the courthouse) all are charming for different reasons.

I loved it here! I love to hear so much that it will now be the main spot I visit every time I am in independence! And the hotel room was so classic! It was the first location I've stayed at that had grown people vibes! ❤️

Ordered lunch at ‘Ophelia’s’ restaurant during our visit to Independence to see the Truman library. Can a restaurant in Independence, MO serve a good Chicken quesadilla? The answer is yes! The kitchen staff prepared the quesadilla just right, served with a garnish of green onions and cheese, and a small side of guacamole. The guacamole was acceptable (and good), but compared with the fresh version we’re accustomed to ‘out west,’ just wasn’t the same. The ‘Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato’ sandwich was great. Bacon was just right, served in a generous amount, along with fresh Lettuce Tomato. The Sweet potato ‘criss cut’ fries were also good. The restaurant features an impressive bar and furnishings. Seating along the windows looking out on to the street provide an enjoyable view. The entire space is well done.Ophelia’s would be a great destination to enjoy an afternoon or evening meal. It certainly was for us.Food & drinks: Although the day of our visit we ordered simple fare (Chicken quesadilla & a BLT), our food was well prepared, served by a responsive, friendly staff in a very well done setting.Noteworthy details: Indoor seating with an excellent view of the downtown Independence area.

Food was excellent and our servers took really good care of our party. There wasn't a long wait for our meals and they were hot and served as ordered.Food & drinks: We are at the restaurant, we didn't stay in the inn.

Good service. Suggestion: please update online profile. The menu, photos, etc., is why we chose Ophelias's for a birthday dinner. Found out about new chef, different menu after we arrived. What we had was good; just not what we expected.
