Salt and other seasonings are missing from every item on the order. Fried shrimp has no seasoning. Red beans and rice have no seasoning. They are literally a can of red beans and rice. No other ingredients or seasonings used. Green beans from a can with no seasoning or other ingredients used. Po boy with a minuscule bit of sauce with shrimp that are not seasoned.Apparently "Southern" in the name stands for disappointing b/c that was what it was. Only had to wait 30 minutes and spend $38.00 to get the same disappointing feeling you have after rubbing one out.

My husband and I used to LOVE this place but was really disappointed this time. I put in my order, only to find out 10 minutes later that they were out of what I ordered. They weren't even busy. The food wasn't even very hot when we got it. I had to ask the waitress for our check because she just sat behind the register playing on her phone. Probably won't come back.

Wait time was longer than average but they were steady with customers, fish and shrimp were a little over cooked and very little flavor (if any) to the breading.

Tried Dam's Southern Eatery, good fish! All the food we had was good, no complaints. They have a dipping sauce that is really good too.Friendly service, clean place I recommend and will go back for sure.I wish the atmosphere was a little better. It kinda has a fast food feel to it but the food is much better than that.

Delicious! Do not be put off by the simple exterior. The interior reminded me of an eatery you might find in southern Florida or the Keys. We both ordered the fried fish po-boy and seasoned fries. More food than we could eat as they also placed a large fried filet of fish on top of the fries. The seasoning was just enough to enhance, but not overpower. The fries were light and crunchy. An excellent southern style lunch. So happy we found it! Definitely recommend!

In the past this was a favorite for my husband and I. However, over the last year prices rose considerably and good became less edible and service became non- existent! Tonight we ordered to pick up thru the drive thru. We arrived, sat for over 10 minutes , watching a girl at the counter on her phone, even taking selfies and never get up to check with us. When you got our food, ( we ordered 2 dinners) we were given 1 fork, no napkins. We asked for more forks and got them, still no napkins! I ordered Shrimp, they were good but I didn’t want French fries and asked about other options- did you know that 4 hush puppies is considered a side- every fish place in America adds hush puppies to go with your meal- not here! Green beans right out of the can- gross! When the serve beans and rice they mean just that- as a good cook I certainly know to add at least onions, but garlic and celery would definitely make it more like New Orleans which I thought they mimicked. The prices have become totally unreasonable. This was my last time to visit here! I have you 3 stars because of the past tonight I should have rated you at 1.5! Personally I think you are on your way to closing up! People don’t waste your money!Parking: Parking is poor!

Looking for unique places to eat I found this place through a flyer at work. I have grown up eating Gumbo and love it so much. Now Joplin, Mo is not the place I would expect to get good or decent gumbo…Sam’s is not that place. I ordered fried okra and the Gumbo. The Okra order was huge and I couldn’t finish it all. It tested great. The gumbo on the other hand was not real gumbo. It had noodles in it ? very little meat that I could tell. Maybe some chicken? I did find some rice at the bottom. The roux had a spicy but very light color to it. This place has plenty of fried foods for your tasting tho. I may try something different next time. If your looking for true Cajun Gumbo…don’t order it from here. Total price for the small Gumbo and Okra…over $15! Kinda expensive!!PS: when I go to a restaurant and see teen boys gathering around the young girls behind the counter just being kids, some customers would be highly turned off by it. I can see most being uncomfortable and not wanting to be here because of this. The restaurant itself was a little rough on the inside as well. Torn seats and not really too clean.

Used to be amazing. Now the service is at best basic and at worst horrible. The food has gone downhill too. Used to love this place. I will give it another chance or two hoping they get back to where they started.

Excellent food at a great price- not fancy, but a great place for a delicious southern meal

Left at 5:30 am from Texas and thought Fish sounded good, so I found this place online. It did not disappoint. It was delicious and the homemade shrimp and fish sauce was great!

We've eaten here a few times. The food is a great value, especially if you're craving some catfish. At one of our visits the portions were smaller and the fish was not a well cooked. At there best, it's easily 5 stars.

Awesome Sunday lunch! Had the fish, shrimp and crab cake combo! Very good food! Fried pickle appetizer was great. Super friendly and quick for fresh cooked dinner! Highly recommend, thanks!

The food selection isn't good. The waitress was very friendly but she didn't really come by our table much. I overheard discussing how she really didn't make enough money just having 1 job and with Christmas coming up she'd have to get a 2nd job to an older customer. I wonder how much of a tip he gave her? We had to get our own to-go box off the table (they were sitting on next to us). The chicken strips were too tough and had a bitter taste. I just ate the fries and half the cole slaw, and left hungry. Needless to say, I won't be going back to eat here, and I don't recommend this place to anybody as a good place to stop for a bite to eat.

Service was good. Food, underwhelming. Very overpriced for what you get. The food you get looks NOTHING like the pictures on their menu. The philly looked amazing in the picture, what I was brought wasn't nearly as appetizing looking and about half the size of the picture. My spouse had the double burger, was nothing special either. Fries were way over done, beyond crispy. Will not go again.
