History is amazing, atmosphere is okay, good is okay. Server was rushing and kept saying we got two more tables…. There were only three tables occupied. Thought we try fried green tomatoes. They were bland. Chicken and dumplings were pretty tasty. They were out of gumbo. Glad we made it by but wouldn’t recommend for food.
Bring your own wine and don’t bother with the menu. Your delightfully polite and very Southern server will tell you what to get/the fresh fish they have that day (redfish and snapper are standards, with trout and flounder showing up a lot, too). What can you say about Mayflower that hasn't already been said for what, half a century?! It still remains the best restaurant in Jackson.And still going strong. I just hope they DON'T shut down!
