“We live in Granville County, Creedmoor / Franklinton area and we drive all the way to this China Star for many years, never had any complaints and this is the only Chinese Restaurant we eat at! You should go try them out you wont be disappointed!!“
“This is one of Durham's hidden gems of a little restaurant. I've been going here for about 8 years now. I believe it's run by two sisters. They are so nice! They don't pick up the phone when it's busy but the food is so cheap and good. Wednesday specials are awesome. Get the sticky rice.“
“I ordered takeout dinner, it was ready within fifteen minutes after ordering. I had the Mongolian Beef with white rice. It was very flavorful and prefer amount. I also ordered a pork egg roll, and must say it was one of the best egg rolls I’ve had in a long time. I was greeted upon entering and lady was very friendly and thanked me for coming in. I would definitely go back there and eat in or takeout. I would recommend to friends and family.“
“Found our dim sum spot in the area! We have tried a few and this is by far the fastest and best we have been to in the area. The pork shu mai, spare ribs, shrimp dumplings, and everything else we tried were excellent. Highly recommend, they have a smaller parking lot and are very popular, so get there when they open!“
“I can’t believe I’ve lived right near here for months and only just now stopped in! The pork buns are FIRE and the prices are SUPER reasonable! I got the pork buns and a jasmine boba for $12 and the portion sizes are great awesome quick lunch “
“I get lunch here often and it is always delicious. They got fat pre-inflation eggrolls and their pork fried rice is on point. Highly recommend the Shrimp and Chinese Vegetable and the Hunan Chicken, their brown and fermented black bean sauce is killer. Cash only and there is almost always someone asking for money outside but everyone has been real chill. Takeout only as well, no indoor seating.“
“My friend and I ate there today (Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024) for the very first time and were very pleased with the two dishes we had: General Ching's Batter Chicken and Moo Shoo Vegetable dishes. They were both delicious and generous servings. We will be back and also recommend the restaurant to others!“
“I'd ordered from China Star about a month ago. Food was excellent. Better though was the service. I used a gift card to pay but got distracted by a phone call and forgot to get my card back. Didn't realize my gaff for a few days (I was back in Pa by then). Completely my fault. Card had about $80 left on it and anyone could have used it. About a week later, I was back in the area and took a chance and went back to China Star and asked whether they still had the card. I expected that the card and $$$ were long gone. But, the young woman who took my order initially went to her notebook and had my card. She was extremely apologetic that she was not able to call me to say that I'd forgotten my card. I was amazed by the honesty demonstrated. The food is excellent and I will definitely patronize China Star based on the honesty and integrity of the staff.“
“I absolutely love this place! First time going today. The best crab rangoon ? Don't even get me started on the beef lo mein ❤️ You get WAY more then what you pay for. Finally, I found an AFFORDABLE and AMAZING Chinese food. Very hard to come by now a days. The service is top notch! The lady up front was so sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was peaceful. I really like how the dining room is separate from the waiting/order area. I have no complaints. This place is amazing and deserves 30 stars “
“Food was as it usually is very good. High quality ingredients and beautiful room/decor. Service was mid, no real attention or refill requests. Almost did not get desert due to the long gaps in time to see our waiter. But the desert banana spring rolls are a definite 10 out of 10. Mongolian beef also 10 out of 10.“
“Always good food from here -My favorites of take out ChineseAlways cooked fresh. Good portionsThe family are always so polite. My favs are crab rangoons, sweet & sour chicken.Mei fun with veggies. Fried veggie rice. Wings are Awesome & the soups !! Boneless ribs.“
“Walking through downtown Durham while waiting to attend an event I was drawn into Sprihg Rolls. This was not due to an aroma or a sign, but by one of the staff members Radley. I was looking at their menu outside when the door suddenly opened, and here is this attractive dude telling me to come in out of the cold. He hands me a menu and asks me a series of questions, and tells me to stay. After checking out the menu, I decided to stay and sit at the bar. We continued our conversation while I sipped some water and ordered broccoli and chicken. The owner, Eddy, appears out of nowhere and chats it up with me. Eddy told me about how they opened during the pandemic and somehow stayed afloat on to go orders. Now, they stay pretty busy and have community events throughout the month. Then, a challenge from the owner to play jenga. As we played, my food came out pipping hot. The broccoli had a slight crunch, and the brown sauce that topped the other vegetables and chicken was light and not sweet or overpowering. The brown rice was okay, but I think next time, I will try their fried rice.I continued to dig in while I lost at jenga.Five stars for this gem on main street. The food was fresh and delicious; and they were super generous with their portions. Also, where can you go, and you end up playing jenga with the owner? I will be back!“
“After many years of going here, I stopped about 2 years ago due to a drop in quality and overall experience. I am here now to say my mind has been changed. One of the things I complained about in a previous review was that the seats were extremely worn and nasty. However after recently going I was surprised to see all new seating. Though I'm not sure when this change happened I'd hope to believe my review might have reached the right person who could make such a change. The food is good and the employees are friendly and kind. Along with that the sushi was surprisingly good and well made. It could be argued that this is a good all you can eat sushi buffet and the rest is just extra.“
“This resturant looks like nothing on the outside or the inside. However you will quickly realize why this restaurant is full of Asians from all over. When you enter the restaurant you see a glass box in which a man makes noodles from scratch. It's quite a sight while we wait for our table. All noodles in this restaurant are hand made and you realize that difference as soon as you eat them. This is the most authentic Chinese food you can find in the area. Its absolutely delicious. The atmosphere gets a 3 because the place is a little dingy looking and nothing good to look at. This is not a place for you to take Instagram pictures in. But the food is amazing.“
“This is a nice sized Chinese buffet with a noodle bar, hibachi, sushi as well as the traditional Chinese staples. It did lack general tso chicken and black pepper chicken. The service was good and plates did not stay on our table. The hibachi grill was good. I only got vegetables at the grill so I cannot speak for the meats. The fried shrimp was different as it had butterfly and shrimp with the hull attached mixed together. So it was fried and by the time you removed the shell there was no shrimp. The fried chicken wings had a very good taste. The salmon had a very strong fishy taste but looked so appetizing. Overall most of the food I had was to my liking. The service was excellent and my cup never got empty. I would return if I am in the area.“
“Ok so, there's a lot to say. Food for me is great, cuz I go here often.. or maybe cause im asian. I just avoid dining in, since the place is dead empty and lowkey scary. I wish they had a renovation or relocation, which would attract a lot of customers. Service isn't bad for me, maybe cuz I don't piss her off, and i'm only here for the food anyways. The fried chicken here is lowkey fire, and the orange chicken. If you wanna take out, go here, it's not THATT bad.“
“Neo China has been our favorite restaurant for years before Covid. After Covid we would go and pick up food even though we live in N. Durham because they were worth it. Finally the day came where we could go dine in again. A couple of the changes they have made we are not fond of. We miss the pot of hot tea that we could share. Now they serve canned soft drinks. My daughter and I went today for lunch and they were busy but our waiter apologized for our wait (at least 10 mins)took our order . He acted like he wanted to be anywhere but there. Finally a guy came in to work saw us and came over to see if we had been helped. Told him yes but it would be nice to get our drinks so he jumped on it. A lady sitting a couple of tables away and who had gotten there before us asked him to check on her order and he did. My daughter told me that there was another lady at a table and she drank het water and left. Can't say I blame her. Was thankful today that I had some cash because the young man that jumped in and got us our drinks, silverware and soup got a nice tip. We will go back because we genuinely think they are worth it.“
“This is my favorite (and only) Chinese take out place I go to in the greater Durham area. Instead of reviewing dishes, I will just note Compared to many Take out places, the food here is noticeably fresher. Veggies are crisper, and chicken and beef are tender. Their chili oil is extremely hot. Also, Great steamed rice and egg rolls. Also I think the overall quality has improved since Covid, which is pretty rare.“
“I was surprised it was pretty good. The food was fresh and didn't taste frozen. The lo mein was a win.Vegetarian options: There is a variety of dishes that can selected without meat.Kid-friendliness: Same dishes as adults just smaller portion.“
