“We came here to celebrate my brother's 40th and the food didn't disappoint! Most dishes we had were commonly known dishes from Indian restaurants but Viceroy had surprisingly original flavors to them. Momo Bhel was a spicy, crunchy and light appetizer!“
“They have an amazing brunch! Super gluten-free friendly, delicious food, great atmosphere, and the nicest staff. I have Celiac’s and Lavina was so kind and helpful, answering all my questions and making sure our whole group had a fantastic brunch. Can’t wait to go back!“
“I give 3.5 stars based on one visit to a Thursday vegan buffet. I applaud them for this recurring event. I rounded up because of the vegan buffet existing. Without the buffet, I'd round down simply because there's a lot of competition for Indian restaurants in the Triangle and I'd choose many of those restaurants over Sitar. The buffet dishes were on the blander side comparatively though this may be to appeal to a wider palate; I haven't ordered from their menu to compare to their offerings outside of the buffet. Still, there was such a large variety of offerings, and the menu seems to fluctuate so that would be reason to return to the buffet. The vegan flan was definitely the highlight of the buffet for me. It was very good. I hope the vegan buffet continues to thrive. Unfortunately its location and day of the week aren't convenient for me so that's another factor that will prevent me from returning frequently but I tried not to let that affect my rating.“
“I've been here twice since they opened. Got the vegetable samosas with the 2 chutneys and the butter chicken with garlic naan and everything has been SO good. Samosas hot and crisp out of the fryer. Chutneys and butter chicken on point. So glad a great Indian restaurant opened up in this little neighborhood of south Durham!“
“Fantastic Indian food, among the best in Durham. We’ve eaten here several times, dishes are distinct with fresh flavors, not too much reliance on ghee. Staff is friendly and helpful. It’s clean and well lit for eating in but really designed more as a takeout, fast casual atmosphere. It’s our new go-to Indian takeout place in west Durham.“
“Upon entering the restaurant, my family and I were pleasantly surprised by the lunch buffet which was equal parts vegetarian and naan-vegetarian. The service was impeccable, with Old World manners and free naan. Try the saag paneer; or take a sticky baked good into your fingers for a sweet treat. Horses will watch you eat and laugh.Vegetarian options: There’s a whole buffet of options, baby!“
“India Gate has become a special place for me. The food is incredible. The spices and seasonings are curated per dish to absolute perfection, while the portions are plentiful and flavor packed. Every bite gets better throughout the meal. The only disappointment I have is that unfortunately, every meal must come to an end, and I'm left wanting to order more! The staff is extremely pleasant and courteous. I cant say enough great things about this place, I'm so glad they opened right up from where I live! Support this place with me, so we all can enjoy many more years of excellent food and service here!“
“We love the buffet! Unfortunately, the buffet switched from weekdays to the weekend. We still prefer this Indian buffet over all the other in the area. The buffet changes daily, and there's always plenty of good vegetarian and meat options. They also separate the meat and vegetarian options at the buffet, which I think is a big plus. Not all their food is spicy, but some is. If you like spice, this is the Indian restaurant to try.Vegetarian options: One section of the bar is completely vegetarian!Parking: Never an issue with parking“
“Had an awesome night here. Working away so eating alone. I was treated so well and the host spent a lot of time talking to me and getting to know me. As an Englishman, I am very used to Indian restaurants and the food was everything I have come to expect. If you are in the area and used to good quality British style Indian restaurants I can't reccomendthis place high enough. I had the Lamb Rogan Josh and it was fantastic. The naan was disapointing but not enough to distract from the experience.“
“EDIT:Food is outstanding, and service just blew my mind. best Indian food and ownership you will find in the area. (Buffet is out of this world good). You HAVE to thy this place!I had originally left a negative review because we were sure that our cards had been stolen at this restaurant. Ownership immediately reached out, investigated thoroughly, and shared evidence that we were incorrect. The fact that they immediately reacted to this and investigated properly to get to the bottom line, is outstanding.“
“Was suggested this place to try and I'm glad we did. Husband and I shared lamb appetizers, and it was delicious. We came just for a small bite and almost ate the entire menu. First time truly having Indian food and this place did not disappoint. Service was impeccable. Atmosphere was great. Can't wait to come back and try more items whenever we visit NC again.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options“
