“I loved this spot. This is the type of breakfast restaurant you find when you're out of town and looking for a satisfying breakfast before you start your day. It was diner style and super packed. Even with every table packed we got seated and served very quickly and all the servers were really welcoming. I got the mushroom omelet, breakfast potatoes, and english muffin. I was really satisfied with my order. I also got a side of corned beef hash (not pictured) and it was great. Most places serve pretty bad corned beef hash so I was pleasantly surprised. My partner got the country scramble, hash browns, and toast. He enjoyed his food as well. The strawberry pancakes were just pancakes with (canned?) strawberries on top but still good. We left happy and full. Our total was around $60.“

“I always struggle to find restaurants that use adequate amounts of spice and flavor. Mateo, however, certainly didn't miss the mark, and every dish was extremely flavorful and decadent. I'm a vegetarian, and there were plenty of options for me, with the fried cauliflower special being my absolute favorite and unlike anything I expected from a cauliflower dish. I also had a beet dish with got cheese that was wonderful. You can't go wrong with their pan con tomate which is an excellent start to the meal. It's a shame I'm not from Durham, because I'd love to come back.“
“This is such a great gem of a restaurant. We went for brunch. Food and drinks were creative and delicious. Beyond that, the service was great. Our server was so friendly and kind. My favorite part was that this restaurant takes care of its staff. They have figured out that the front and back of the house people are what keeps a successful restaurant going. If these people are not taken care of, they have to eventually go else where to take care of themselves. The management has figured out that quality people cannot be easily replaced and they make sure that the amazing staff is taken care of. Kudos!!!!!“

“Nothing fancy, but dear lord it is one of the best around. Food is amazing and staff is even better. The pricing cannot be beat! An entree and two sides for $7-8, got you thinking this is some 1990s dinner pricing. And these portions are grandma portions. The kind of portion where you told grandma "I'm not hungry", but she loads up your plate anyways and you end up taking some home because there's just too much on the plate. A true gem in the area.“
“First time trying the Grub Durham. We came to for lunch and I was thrilled to see pancakes on the menu. Who doesn't like pancakes for lunch! Service was fairly quick with a small lunch crowd. I enjoyed the outside rooftop. Far as the food(3.5 stars), it was okay but nothing too special. I may have to come again and try one of the sandwiches on the menu.“

“I enjoyed dinner here with my grandparents after my Grampy told me how delicious the Chicken Tenders were. I love fried chicken and I was not expecting them to be the best ever! Those chicken tenders were perfect. The breading was wonderfully light and shortly after it melted in your mouth the incredibly juicy chicken followed suit! The service was wonderful! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for some real good chicken tenders!“
“Came here for my wedding reception. We had a very small & intimate courthouse wedding. It’s a Southern thing was very accommodating even without a reservation. They treated us like royalty! “I can honestly say I think I’ve found the chick-fil-a customer service outside of chick-fil-a! I was greeted and seated soon as I walked in. My server was super respectful and waited until I finished my zoom call. Desmond was knowledgeable of everything on the menu and suggested some delicious meals. Food was order and delivered less than maybe 5-7 mins. I received everything I needed without having to ask. Refills were brought to my table at the perfect time. I can’t wait to visit again. Even the playlist was top tier. I highly recommend 10/10!“
“One of the best southern soul food restaurants I have been to. The pinto beans were full of meat and well seasoned along with the mixed cabbage and collard greens.
