“Fantastic concept done very well, the ingredients are high quality and prepared very well. We loved the spicy tuna and beef bulgogi sushi burrito. The crab rangoons were full of flavor and definitely a step up from what you would normally get. I'll definitely be back!“
“This is my favorite place for ramen. I've had several ramen dishes with all being very good; never disappointed. Their shrimp bao buns are also great. Customer service is awesome always a pleasant atmosphere. This is a must go to, you won't be disappointed.“
“This is a spot I can’t wait to visit for the second time, wish there was a location in Greensboro. Even just the concept of all you can eat sushi from a conveyer belt. I loved it! Many sauces to choose from, unlimited soup and fountain drinks. My favorite part was the display above your table where you can order sides and dishes such as steak hibachi, wings, crab rangoon (YES), and much more all included. The sushi was delicious, I’m not too picky. The staff were very friendly and thankful for us choosing to dine here. Will be visiting again when I am in town!“
“Wide range of Asian food.Edit: Original owner sold the restaurant. It has gone downhill since then. The floors inside are so sticky that they will pull your shoes off as you walk to the counter. The fryer oil is in bad shape and makes the food taste like pig sweat. Yuck! The sushi is gas station grade at best, don’t bother, there is no longer a sushi chef. Just get your greasy “Asian” food somewhere else even if it costs a couple more dollars. So sad to see a good restaurant go downhill so fast like this.“
“This place has a pretty good sushi deal for lunch, especially if you're getting multiple specialty rolls. Their hot food is good too (according to my friends - I'm a sucker for sushi). They tend to be quick,so you can fit this sit down meal within an hour on most days. It's usually not *too* busy for lunch, but once in a while I've had to wait for a seat. After having been to Akashi multiple times, I can say it's pretty solid and a good choice for sushi at lunchtime.“
“If you want sushi it’s a good option. Been here a couple times. The sushi is always very tasty but getting anything else isn’t very good. Tried several different dishes that weren’t sushi and none tasted above just an “ok” level. Waitstaff and manager were very kind when expressing the dislike with the noodles my sister got today though. Overall pretty happy, just making sure to only ever get sushi here.“
“Just happened to find this place by chance when looking for a lunch place to dine with colleagues in downtown Durham. Was walking distance from Main street. Flavorful and more importantly fresh food, cooked fresh right on site. Much better taste and prices especially for vegetarian food than you get at other busier and overpriced locations in downtown Durham. Small mom and pop establishment that absolutely values the customer. Very friendly owners and chef. They run a take out and catering service too. Nice ambience. Great prices and again most important fresh food full of flavor.Vegetarian options: Fresh and unusually flavorful vegetables and tofu dishes“
“This is a nice sized Chinese buffet with a noodle bar, hibachi, sushi as well as the traditional Chinese staples. It did lack general tso chicken and black pepper chicken. The service was good and plates did not stay on our table. The hibachi grill was good. I only got vegetables at the grill so I cannot speak for the meats. The fried shrimp was different as it had butterfly and shrimp with the hull attached mixed together. So it was fried and by the time you removed the shell there was no shrimp. The fried chicken wings had a very good taste. The salmon had a very strong fishy taste but looked so appetizing. Overall most of the food I had was to my liking. The service was excellent and my cup never got empty. I would return if I am in the area.“
“It's my favorite sushi place in the triangle! There are so many great options, and it's always buy one get one free. Staff is always friendly and prompt. Make sure you check the days they are open because we went one time and they had changed them and were closed but that doesn't take away from the food. The food is amazing.“
“If ya lookin for some quality foods & delicious favors; this place has some wicked banga's.... the portions are decent in themselves but if your goal is couch lock get double rice & proteins. All the sauces are on point son ...nahmem.“
“I always rave to everyone I know that Sushi Love is my favorite sushi restaurant in Durham. The sushi is awesome, the prices are honest, the drinks and saki selections a great, and the variety and I trigue of their offers in the sushi menu are above par--they have everything from traditional style, delectable sushi to fun and intriguing and fun new styles to try + a wholeeee menu of awesome Asian appetizers and dishes that fit every guest dietary preference/need/desire. Though we normally go there for the sushi ? I also love many of their non-sushi dishes and apps as well. The place is always packed and busy, a good sign and testament of killer yummy food. I have non-jokingly asked the staff and manager many times to please please please open a new location in North Durham so I can come eat more often ?☺️.I worked in restaurants my whole life until I graduated college, it is very hard work to work in and/or run a restaurant, to wait tables, to be a food runner and busser, dishwasher, and to be a bartender, which is what I did from age 21-32. I loved the work, even though I know and remember it is very hard work. It is often underappreciated--the labor itself but also the skills you acquire and master in this industry. Our waitress on our recent visit was great--super attentive, friendly, personable, and helpful. Overall we experienced (and always do here) great** service. She was awesome and when we mentioned how kind the manager was to us during our dining she said 'yes she is such an amazing boss and person, I love working here!' and I have to say, I worked in restaurants up and down the East Coast as well as in Italy..... and I can only say I had that feeling at only two restaurants I ever worked at....out of like 15 places at least over the years. I had two restaurant jobs where I knew my boss and/or the owner was a good person who cared about the work and the guests and who cared for the employees. It is a rarity in our world: having a restaurant with great food, great staff, *andddd* an amazingly good person running/owning the restaurant. A super rare thing. I really really respect that ?? and am grateful we met Jane during our recent visit and to find out that the owner and manager of one of our favorite spots that we have been patrons of for a couple years now is like that: a good person, who *cares*, it really makes the food and drinks taste that much better, sincerely .We will continue to be patrons and keep hoping ? that one day more Sushi Love locations nearer to North Durham will open up, but either way we will keep loving Sushi Love ? ??“
“Alright, let's give Kurama its moment in the spotlight! While Kanki may have its loyal following, Kurama has some shining qualities of its own.First off, Kurama's food? It's like a flavor adventure waiting to happen. From their sushi rolls bursting with freshness to their teriyaki dishes that hit all the right notes, Kurama knows how to please a palate. And let's not forget about the ambiance. Stepping into Kurama is like stepping into a cozy corner of Japan, with its charming decor and inviting atmosphere making you feel right at home. But perhaps Kurama's greatest strength lies in its staff. Friendly, attentive, and always ready with a recommendation, they go above and beyond to ensure that every dining experience is a memorable one.So, while Kanki may have its perks, Kurama holds its own as a delicious destination worth exploring. Who knows? You might just find your new favorite dish hidden among its menu offerings!“
