“This is our go to sushi restaurant in chapel hill/ durham. The sushi is consistent and delicious. The sushi chef is one of the best I’ve seen in this area. It’s always superb sush. My particular favorite is going during their lunch special , which includes weekdays and Saturdays. My children love the sushi and we get a couple of the triples that include 3 rolls with soup or salad. We love their spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail, Philadelphia roll, and generally the rest of their menu is all really amazing. The price is amazing and we always devour all the food. If you are someone who cares about quality, ratios, and consistency, then you will love it like we do. They do have a list of fancier rolls that we occasionally get and are also amazing. But we keep coming back because we hit the perfect balance between amazing cost and amazing, delicious food. You get the best quality and the best price here and it’s so worth it! Highly recommend it!“
“We stopped by here on our travels from Helen Georgia to Wilmington. My wife was craving some Thai food and this is what she found. BJ took care of us at the restaurant. When I say he took care of us, I mean he accommodated our family of 5 in ways we couldn’t even imagine. It was such a homie feel. He adapted the menu for our kids and he was attentive to every one of their needs. Even before we left, he gave us drinks for the road and made sure we were taken care of prior to our departure. He made it a point to get all of our names and wish us a safe travel. The love this man showed to us was amazing and we hope you experience the same thing when you dine here. The food was great! Everything was fresh to order and very flavorful.“
“All I can say is if you have not yet tried Bua Thai Durham, just stop everything and go. Now. They have real Lao sticky rice, which is a wonder in itself. Any shape you want to shape it, it will hold. And the taste!!! This was my first time here, and I ordered the marinated chicken and papaya salad. The layers of flavor, sweet, sour, spicy, salty, all come together masterfully.I cannot wait to return.Best restaurant in Durham.“
“This restaurant is soo delicious! I love their Thai fried rice with tofu and all of their soups are just lovely. I really enjoyed the flavor and portion size of the meal that I got for takeout for dinner. It was filling and flavorful without being too heavy on the stomach. The service is excellent also, all of the staff are so friendly. I loved it here!“
“All meats in the dishes were juicy and tender, perfectly cooked. The pho soup had an excellent flavor. The bun chicken dish was also very good, although it was missing carrots. Spring rolls were freshly made, the wrappers were a little extra chewy but very good.Vegetarian options: There is an option of vegetarian spring rolls as well as a few vegetarian dishes.Parking: Apple parking outside the restaurant.Kid-friendliness: Family friendly restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: There are two ways into the restaurant. The entrance at the front of the building has a wheelchair ramp, the entrance on the side of the building has a few steps.“
“Wide range of Asian food.Edit: Original owner sold the restaurant. It has gone downhill since then. The floors inside are so sticky that they will pull your shoes off as you walk to the counter. The fryer oil is in bad shape and makes the food taste like pig sweat. Yuck! The sushi is gas station grade at best, don’t bother, there is no longer a sushi chef. Just get your greasy “Asian” food somewhere else even if it costs a couple more dollars. So sad to see a good restaurant go downhill so fast like this.“
“My wife called this the best Massaman Curry she ever had. They put fresh avocados in it. She was skeptical but it worked! They were much quicker than they said it would take. Very nice and quiet. They keep the lights down low, so don't be fooled thinking they are not open.“
“Highly Recommended!!!!Super Helpful from the owner “P’Kade”.I need to thank her for all her assistance. We had a party at the company for 20 persons, and i just called her, and she did all the best out of her for recommendations and arrangements. The food was very tasty and well prepared. We got chicken volcanos, Pad Thai, Basil fried rice and Panang (red curry). And this restaurant has a vegan options, Will be back again!“
“Took the family here after the Durham Xmas parade. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. We were seated right away by friendly staff. They answered all our questions, and we were able to find something for every member of our group, even our pickiest eaters (including a vegan, and one who doesn't like 'weird stuff').The food was prepared quickly and was delicious. Everyone in our group thought it was great; and the kids both volunteered that Thai @main should become one of our regulars.Vegetarian options: Almost every dish can be prepared veganKid-friendliness: Our party included 2 teens, who both remarked on how cool the place was. Another party seated near us had a 10-12 year old, who seemed to be enjoying himself.“
“This resturant looks like nothing on the outside or the inside. However you will quickly realize why this restaurant is full of Asians from all over. When you enter the restaurant you see a glass box in which a man makes noodles from scratch. It's quite a sight while we wait for our table. All noodles in this restaurant are hand made and you realize that difference as soon as you eat them. This is the most authentic Chinese food you can find in the area. Its absolutely delicious. The atmosphere gets a 3 because the place is a little dingy looking and nothing good to look at. This is not a place for you to take Instagram pictures in. But the food is amazing.“
“My husband serprised me over the weekend and we drove 3 hrs to Raleigh for a comedy show, but a huge goal was to have authentic Thai. We lived in Thailand for 12 years and have missed genuine Thai so much. It was great talking to P. Joy in Thai and the food was the best we've had state side! Khao Soi and som tom were both so delicious! We actually ate lunch yesterday at another Thai place, but it had nothing on Thai Star.“
