“Definitely 5 stars across the board. Randomly stopped in here while passing through town. The young lady at the counter suggested the Belgian Chick spicy. These people are doing the lords work back there in that kitchen. Don’t know if I’ll ever be back to Rutherfordton, but I’ll always remember that chicken n waffle ”

“I liked it ok. The guys working there were great and I loved the set up and atmosphere. There were also a lot of different ice cream flavors to choose from and samples if your not sure which to choose. It's a cute little place.”

“Went in for coffee to celebrate buying a property. I had the monday special coffee which was lovely. Good prices. Also muffins fresh that day so just had to have one of them too! Very friendly and a nice place to hang out.Parking: Street parking all along main st so just depends on how busy the town is.”

“Visiting from north Florida. Last week had the fried chicken dinner and the catfish basket. Had to come back and get more catfish baskets (shown in photo)! Sides of green beans, slaw, and fries were what I expected. Chicken and hush puppies were very good, but the catfish was the BEST I've ever had and at a very reasonable price too! The restaurant is attached to an antiques store with lots of neat stuff to look at while waiting for your food!”

We got the nachos, burger, and hot honey chicken sandwich and they were all great! They are a scratch kitchen so everything was made fresh for us!”

“I hadn’t been to a KFC for close to 30 years, but I heard that their pot pies were very good and wanted to try one. I also saw an advertisement for a smashed potato bowl with chicken, so I ordered one of those as well. I also saw that there was a Mountain Dew flavor that is exclusive to KFC, sweet lightning, so, of course I had to try that. I couldn’t resist a small lemon Bundt cake on the menu. The verdict is in. The pot pie was delicious. My only disappointment was that there was not a crust on the bottom. However, the crust on top was flaky and crisp and the filling was hot and loaded with big chunks of white meat chicken. I would definitely order that again. The smashed potato bowl with chopped up fried chicken was so salty that I was unable to eat it. The Mountain Dew sweet lightning was absolutely outstanding! The flavors are peach and honey, and they delighted my taste buds! The lemon mini Bundt cake was moist and bursting with lemon flavor with a lemon glaze drizzled on top. I will probably be returning for a pot pie with sweet lightning along with a lemon cake in the near future.”

I know it's only 30 cents but usually tip.. so instead of $1... she got 30 ”

“I'm a firm believer in supporting small businesses. Hope House gives towards a worthy cause, locally owned and a much better vibe than any Starbucks could offer. Not to mention the coffees are excellent and you'd be hard pressed to get a better muffin anywhere. Staff is always courteous and attentive.”

“I had some plans to meet some friends in Forest City so i googled coffee shops and found this one! When i saw the picture of the vault i knew i had to go. I tried an iced vanilla chai latte for the first time and it was soooooo good! I said in the pink chair by the window and read my book for a while. I loved the atmosphere and the music. I tried grilled salmon for my 1st time tonight(dietary restrictions due to hypertension), it was ok, I don't have any comparison it was my 1st. But I've had several other dishes and my wife's 2 way combo with fried scallops and shrimp was great, I cheated and had 2 of the scallops, they were out the back door off the chain! My go to "fish camp" nowadays!Parking: Get there early or come late, if the restaurant is full so is the parking lot but there's a bank and other business right next door where parking is available. Maybe a 40 yard walk at the mostKid-friendliness: Great big shark in the foyer I see kids taking photos with, and the beach house atmosphere is welcoming”

“Finally tried Mario's, and I'm upset with myself for waiting so long. Having spent quite a bit of time in the Mediterranean with the Navy, it's refreshing to get the "farmhouse" experience again! Mario's is a super typical, ambiance neglected family style restaurant that you find everywhere in Southern Italy. The owners, despite the length of time spent in the US, run it just like they would back in the old country. Almost no staff, 70's and 80's decor, random music you can barely hear playing from decades old speakers...and the most authentic tasting Italian food I've had in a very long time. Everything about Mario's is utterly perfect for what it is. If you know, you know. And it is blessing they are located in Forest City NC. The lack of a broader customer base is allowing them to continue running the restaurant the way they want to, rather than watering it down to appease sheer masses. If you are in the mood for your Italian Grandma to complain you are looking too thin and to "Eat! Eat!" as she gives you two people's worth of food on a single plate...Mario's is your place!”

“Burgers are thick and juicy, fresh toppings. The chicken wrap is perfect. The wrap is not too thick. The chicken is seasoned, not over seasoned like most places and cooked just right. The fries are fresh not frozen and the onions rings are the good ones. Pepsi is on tap!”
