Staff and serviceThe host seemed as though he had better things to do and was not very inviting. However the server we had was great, she was friendly and attentive.AtmosphereWe were seated in a booth, the seats were worn, uneven and so uncomfortable near the ends that we both were forced to move past the first 1/3 to find even and comfortable seating. The food: was hit and miss. The butterhorns were tasty, the walleye cakes were crisp and light and the sauce accompaniment was a perfect paring. The meatball starters were very good, full of flavor and a wonderful start to the meal. The main dishesWe ordered chicken masala and the fillet as our main dishes. The chicken masala was inedible. The chicken was over cooked and resembled a chicken breast you'd purchase from the walmart frozen food section. This was definitely not a fresh poultry item. The general flavor was an overpowering sweet and sour that made the dish off putting. The fillet was ordered medium rare, but was served medium well, seamed to be well seasoned but due to improper cooking and an overpowering sauce it's flavor was muddled and dim. In addition the plate composition was not clean in presentation. Mashed potatoes covered much of the plate, the asparagus was pressed into them and the fillet pressed on top of the asparagus. The entire plate was covered and swimming in the sauce which was overwhelmingly present in every bite of the dish. I expected a more elegant presentation than the truck stop "chicken fried steak" appearance. The menu and pricing would insinuate an upscale culinary experience, however the finished item is more on par with a highway cafe. I would not recommend the Butterhorn to anyone seeking a fine dining experience in Biasmarck.

The service was excellent and the overall vibe is calming and low key. With multiple kids at home it's a nice change of pace. The burger was ok, but the salmon plate was excellent. We have been here many times and never disappoints!

The food was amazing as usual. The atmosphere is always pleasant. The steak was cooked just the way I like it (m/rare) and loved the crispy outside. Horse radish mashed potatoes were very good also. My wife and I love this restaurant!!

We went for a Valentine's day dinner and everything from the first course to the last was excellent! I had the walleye cake, filet mignon, and bread pudding. Everything was fantastic.

Based on the pricing, we had high expectations for this place. The food was mediocre and the menu didn't have a lot of options. The drinks were great and service was friendly.

Limited but delicious menu, with everything on the menu worth trying, including the fresh made pasta!! Great cocktails and classic modern ambiance and refinement!
This used to be our favorite restaurant, and while it's still good, it's not near as good as it used to be. We miss the old chef.

For the price point I felt the menu options were underwhelming in creativity. Table was wobbly, drinks were great, service was great, I just felt the menu could have been more adventurous. The rolls did live up to their reputation, but I don't typically visit a restaurant just for the bread course.

Usually we sit at a table... but this time, we had a booth... the seating cushions were broken... zero support, like sitting in a hole... for the first time, a booth was our meal and I will now request, table..... it was a surprise to find this.
Great food. We ordered a couple items that members of our party said they would not eat. They tried them as we shared and declared them excellent!-crispy brussel sprouts and the bread pudding. Chicken Marsala was excellent! Don't forget the butterhorns!

Butterhorn is a gem! We were warmly greeted and received very attentive service. From the environment to the menus everything is thoughtfully planned for an amazing dining experience. "Pulled up in a Caddi" cocktail was yummy. Walleye cakes were generously sized, perfectly crispy outside and served with a fantastic fresh remoulade. Fresh hand made pasta was best weve ever had. Even the "just a salad" with house buttermilk chive dressing was delightful. A must go when in Bismarck.
