Met Al about 2 weeks ago and he let me see his brick oven. Very friendly guy and the 2020 style pepperoni with sausage was amazing (I liked that even more than the classic). One of the best pizza ever.
I’ve lived in New Jersey my entire life, and have had my fair share of delicious pizza, but Santillo’s tops my list (along with Star Tavern). Everything I’ve tried that comes out of Santillo’s oven tastes amazing, and the man himself is a New Jersey treasure.Al - if you see this, have you ever made a pesto pie??

They bake the old fashion way, brick oven. Who does that. No one!!!!They never modernized, thank God!!! Pizza pies started out as a tomato pie. I read Italy was once a part of Greece, and they invented the tomato pie. Yeah!!! Really. I'm not sure for sure. However I'm Irish. I'm just saying what I read.
