Little cafe in the lobby of Hackensack Hospital. Lots of baked goods, a cute espresso machine, and a limited hot food menu. Latte was perfectly good, better than expected in a hospital cafeteria. The sign on the door promises free smiles, and they definitely deliver. Very friendly staff, which is much appreciated in a setting like this.
To think I can go to a Hospital Cafe (aquarium Cafe) and enjoy a restaurant quality lunch! WOW! Brought my son who just loved playing with the Dory fish in the beautiful aquarium positioned in the center of the cafeteria. I had Calamari fri diavlo over spaghetti, my son had chicken fingers and fries! Then I had a Starbucks quality caramel machiatto and we split pound cake! Highly recommend if your at hackensack university medical center or just in the area!

Wow. So you would expect hospital cafeteria food to be on par with prison, Navy, high school cafeteria, food kitchen, or other mass produced heavily processed junk. Well, be prepared for a completely different experience here.It seems they have a unique menu every single day! The soups appear and taste like they were actually made with ingredients that were mixed together and cooked to perfection right then and there.
