I've been coming to Ayame since it opened back in 2010/2011. It's always amazing. Great quality, great prices, and it's BYOB! I usually come for the sushi but the Hibachi is SO FUN!
Food is great! Absolutely delicious. Atmosphere and service is severely lacking. AC was off and we were sweating, they waited until I asked them to turn on the AC. Waitress never checked in on us and I had to wave her down. You'd think its busy right? Hoboken in a Saturday? Nope, we were the only ones there and she still couldn't be bothered to check in on us.Also the hibachi chef was so boring and didn't even try to go through the motions. Seaweed salad and Kani salad were good. The Kani was a little bit meh but fine for me. The spicy salmon roll was terrible and I don't say that lightly. It was salmon blended with tempura and heavy on the tempura. Never experienced any sushi ever tasting oily and fried like that. Just rice, nori, and the salmon puree... 16.50 disappointing.
