Worst customer service experience I've ever had. The waitress came up to me after I paid for our meal (two people) and asked if there was anything wrong with the service. We were confused. She said I only tipped 8% and wanted to know "if there was something wrong with the service". I knew that she was incorrect, yet she refused to bring the check back to us to double check the math. I was embarrassed and left $5 on the table. I have never seen a server attempt to humiliate a customer in front of their guests like this in order to solicit an additional cash tip. When I later checked my credit card bill, I did not tip 8%, I tipped 15%, as I thought I did. Worst customer service experience I've ever had.

Delicious food and great service. We wanted to take our time through apps then tacos, and they were more than accommodating. The beef tongue is legit. BYOB is a plus. We will be bringing friends here once we all get vaccinated.

I can't even hold you this was such a let down.. previously reviews and pictures of dishes on Yelp looked so promising. The wait staff was great, no complaints there. Although we were surprised with a $10 bowl of chips and guac added on to our bill even though our waiter made it seem like it was "for the table". But I'll be fair.. the food was bland. Just plain bland. No taste.. with a couple prices of meat. We opted for the bowls and it was just small cuts of unseasoned meat with a ton of plain white rice, with a scoop of guac and some tomatoes on top. Didn't even attempt to finish the food just want appealing. In the end it came to like $40 which was kinda a shock for two plain a** bowls but whatever we took the L and headed on our way.

The veggie tacos with black bean and sweet potato were excellent, as was the guacamole topped with crispy brussel sprout leaves. Friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

The food was good, I had the scallop tacos and the pork. The experience however was lacking, I asked for my tacos to be spicy and was told it couldn’t be spiced up more rather, a mango habanero sauce was offered and I said ok. The tacos took about 30 minutes and after my meal, I asked for the bill and surprisingly, there was a $2 charge for the sauce which I was never told there would be an extra charge. I gave a $50 bill, asked for change and my change was never given to me. Personally, I am a very good tipper but I never want to feel coerced or forced into it and I feel like I was in this situation. $50 for 4 tacos, guacamole and chips...another day in Montclair....
Excellent food!!! I’m obsessed with the shrimp tacos. The Esquite is delicious. Best guacamole and so creative with Brussels sprouts and bacon.You definitely must try Villalobos. Not only is the food amazing, Adam and his staff are so attentive and welcoming.Great customer service.I highly recommend Villalobos.

The best Mexican in Montclair!!! I finally had the pleasure of dining here today, and was highly impressed. The owner Adam went out of his way to be sure we (as well as the other guests) were given the best service & food! I love the authentic decor around the restaurant, as well as the quaint outdoor seating. The watermelon & pineapple Aqua Frescas were a refreshing way to start off the meal. I was super excited to have tried not one, but two of their incredible guacamole's & salsas. The Bacon & Brussel Sprout Guac was unlike any Guac I've had before and I couldn't get enough of the chipotle honey salsa. Absolutely phenomenal! For appetizers, I tried the Elote & Chicken Flautas, both of which were flavorful & perfectly sized portions. The taco options were super unique which I loved. My personal favorite was the brisket barbacoa taco! You could tell the meat was slow simmered & accompanied by a homemade corn tortilla. Just a total knock out. I couldn't leave without trying the churros, as they were simply to die for! I highly recommend this place for upscale, high quality Mexican food in Montclair!

I was very impressed with the creativity and amazing flavor they bring to Mexican food. The ingredients are all fresh and food is absolutely delicious. Best Mexican I've ever had. Seating is all outside, spaced well and we felt safe with their COVID protocol.
