Stayed in Newark for a few days to visit NYC and this place was right around the corner. The kid is nice and the sushi was so good so we went two nights in a row. I 100% recommend the Philadelphia roll (my fav). We also got the fried pork dumplings, shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, & miso soup. Everything tasted very good and the people were nice!

Overall great place for sushi in the neighborhood. They've got a decent lunch set (2 rolls + soup/salad for $11.50 or 3 rolls + soup/salad for $15.50) and a happy hour deal (5 rolls for $22). Order directly with them, the delivery platforms charge more for the food.

I only have ordered to Takeout and delivery. I love this family owned and operated Sushi ? restaurant. Manny Sushi places are opening and closing in the neighborhood before I even get to try them and the ones I have given a chance they don't surprise me for the positive. I was a Banzai customer before Sushi House 21. I like both but Sushi House 21 is the most consistent and reliable!

I had the Sushi 21 Roll and I must say it was very good it was a roll I never had with a pink rice it was rolled up in. I walked in and wasn't expecting the service I received and the timely manner my food was made. It isn't the coziest place to eat in too small for me but the food compensates for that. So if your looking for a good sushi place to get your food to go this is your place when in Newark, NJ.

Definitely no frills, but the rolls were competently pulled together. The miso soup, I was warned, needed time to soften the seaweed, so they make it to order. The wasabi didn't seem real. It had no real spice and didn't break up into my soy sauce... It was CHEAP if you chose a lunch special and didn't deviate, but the rolls allowed on the lunch special are limited and not interesting. So my advice is go somewhere else.

Sometimes go there with my bro for sushi and such due to good deals, plus their chief specials. It ends up being good.Current purchase was good with the fried rice option, I swear can fill up two people. The son was a nice kid and knew what he was doing.

It was a super clean and fresh place. In a sushi restaurant, it is very important to not smell seafood. Had the Alaska, Cali & Jazz sushi roll, all were great. The shrimp shumai was fantastic. I ordered online and was good to go in minutes.

I ordered the lunch special. I was a little disappointed when eel avocado was not an option in the lunch special, but honestly when I did get my order it was definitely filling. Each roll comes with 8 pieces and they do not cheap out on the portions. You can order online on their website and pick up your order. Definitely will be ordering again if I'm craving sushi!

Sushi House 21 is one of the best sushi restaurants in the Ironbound section of Newark. The owners are pleasant and the food, including the sushi, is always fresh… I have been ordering sushi from this particular restaurant, for a long time now, and have never had a complaint in regards to the service or the food quality. I highly recommend Sushi House 21 to anyone that is in the Newark area and enjoys eating delicious sushi, at an affordable price.
I ordered grubhub delivery from here because they had good reviews. I seriously am in disbelief how this place has 4.5 stars. I'm more upset with the people who gave it good reviews than I am with the actual restaurant. Have these people never eaten good sushi? I had 2 rolls plus salmon and tuna nigiri and honestly it may have been the worst sushi I've ever eaten. It was worse than grocery store sushi. The rice was dry and hard. The fish wasn't great quality. Definitely won't be giving this place a 2nd chance.

This is the worst sushi place I've ever been to you need a microscope to see the Salman in the already small sushi roll and the flavor there is non try asking for sauce for the flavorless morsels they want to ask you for a dollar ill never go there again

Ordered 5 total specialty rolls. Sushi was okay, i thought it was overpriced for the portion size.

Delicious but very very overpriced! For the price of 12 sushi, you can go to a quality all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. However, if you're in the Ironbound and can't travel far, this place is the monopoly for sushi, and it's delicious. I give my highest compliments to the chefs with the Dragon Rolls.
