“My family is visiting Alto/Ruidoso from Texas and we’re looking for an all American breakfast. We are so happy we stumbled into Alto Cafe. Seriously one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in a long time and the service was phenomenal. I wish we were going to be in town longer so we could come back! Seriously - so good that we even tipped the cooks. What a gem y’all have here in Alto!”
“I love this place! Coffee, food and smoothies are all great! I'm so happy I found this gem in Ruidoso. The fiesta bowl hit the spot for lunch. We also got smoothie bowls and a homemade pop tart that was amazing. The coffee was delicious.”
“Our family of 6 road tripped through the area last week and had the most delicious lunch here. Every sandwich was phenomenal. The owners were so sweet and accommodating! If you have the opportunity give them a try!”
“Great staff. Get there early cause they fill up fast. The battered fried green chili slices were incredible. Could have made a full meal out of them. Had the green chili chicken enchilada casserole. Great flavor but needed a lot more green chili with a green chili sauce vs all cheese. My family raved about their famous green chili cheeseburger. Overall, a great experience.”
“The older gentleman here was very friendly and helpful. We had a very nice conversation with him while he filled our order. Ordered some delicious hot chocolate and purchased some desserts to take back with me. Got a piece of red velvet cake, pecan pie, cinnamon roll and cheese cake all are very delicious. He also has a few gift items for sale too. Will definitely go back again on my next trip.”
“This place is a must when you are in the area.Very reasonably priced items! The food was the best part of our trip to Ruidoso!Don't miss out on the flash sauce! Ask for extra!”
“Great small diner with a fantastic breakfast and lunch menu. Perfect place to meet the locals. I loved their salsa and guacamole. My sandwich was on point and their cinnamon roll was heaven. Really good place for Mexican food too.”
“I had the Hawaii 5-0 burger and fries. The people were really friendly and the burgers were great. The fries alone are worth getting just to snack on while walking around.”
“I’ve eaten here twice, this year and last year aswell and both times the service was great and food was amazing, I got the chicken salad croissant and the tomato basil soup last year and it was perfect this year only thing changed was I got a mushroom crab soup and that was something I’ve never even tried it was so creamy and delicious and my favorite desserts are their blueberry cobbler cheesecake I got both last year and this year and I tried their buttermilk pie and it was so rich I ate it for dessert and breakfast and their portions are plentiful too. I love this place and their vibe and will be back in the future ?❤️Parking: Small walk across or down the street”
“My husband and I absolutely love this place. Total speakeasy feel inside. The owners are so nice. We ended up going twice while we were there and spending hours talking to the owners and other patrons. I am very sad that they are selling the place.”
“A unique experience that takes pride in their service. From their unique atmosphere, to ensuring that you are eating and drinking healthy. Not to mention that banana not bread smoothie was delicious!”
“Food is amazing! I've always been a lover of sandwiches ? and this is my go-to spot for a great meal! And plus, it has a Cinnabon connected to it so I can get extra fat when I have the”
“The sweet couple that runs the shop were so kind, they offered my baby a cupcake for her bday and even sang her happy birthday. Was the sweetest and most caring thing and she thoroughly enjoyed the delicious Hummingbird cupcake, it was absolutely delicious!”
“Laura here...Ok, First, I rarely get to eat out because of my food allergies...but it was a special occasion. In that case, I usually I get a salad and sometimes even bring my own dressing. :( Just to be safe. I Was hoping for the gluten free cauliflower crust pizza, but, it had corn in it; a huge no-no for my food allergies/intolerances. So, I went for the Big Ole Salad. It was Especially special because the greens are locally grown hydroponically! It was wonderful. Better than Wonderful. Delightful! So, Here I am at a restaurant, EATING with friends,,,eating,, when I might usually only order a beverage!! I Was also very impressed that our server checked with me to be sure about the goat cheese on the salad due to my food allergies. The salad had "The best homemade balsamic vinaigrette on the planet." I swear! And my friend that is from Chicago said it was THE best pizza she's had since moving to New Mexico! I can't reccomend this place highly enough! I'll definitely be back!!”
“Coffee was good but not my favorite. I do recommend to give it a try. I think the coffee beans used were just not for me. But if you like to try coconut flavor or blueberry flavor give it a try ! Service was great though.”
“When we go out for breakfast, this is our favorite. Food is hot and fast. The dining area is chilly early in the mornings. They do need to clean sugar, salt and pepper shakers more often; greasy on the outside.Parking: Free and plentiful.”
“Great tasting New Mexican food. I had the Super Combo with the Chile Relleño and Enchiladas. The food was delicious and portions were good. The waitress was very friendly.”
“I travel alot through Ruidoso and I will pass Roswell hungry just to stop by and grab a variety of food! I had the brisket sandwich and spiral fries. Only thing I was upset about was not getting 2 of each! Great food, great people! Definitely a stop I try to make every pass through!”
“They processed a pronghorn for me. Everything was vacuum packed perfectly. The breakfast sausage is great. I could not be happier with their work and professionalism.”
“The noodles were delicious and the teriyaki chicken was some of the best I’ve had. If you are walking through midtown and want something to eat, definitely give them a try!”
“This is home style cooking. I met the owner who was the waitress and cook on that day. She offered to cook me a meal that wasn’t on the menu. Sounded good and I said yes. Wow! What a superb meal that was! She made it all from scratch. And her hospitality…very much valued. I will take this route from Texas to the west coast just to stop here…and on the way back also. Thank you.”
“Love this spot when visiting ruidoso! The food is always good and they do some really great pizzas! Coffee is perfect and the beer is always great! The location and patios are such a cool space! Highly recommend!”
“Food is delicious. Fish tacos are amazing! They have delicious horchata best I’ve ever had. Service was amazing. It makes you feel like you are back in San Diego by the beach eating at Tequilas and sunsets only better.”
“Small taproom and back outdoor patio. Located in mid town Ruidoso. I visited mid week so there was barely a crowd, but I can see it getting crowded on weekends and holidays.”
“The band "Old Friends" plays on Wednesday nights. They are great. Angie is the best. The food is good. Fun, friendly, laid back. You have to go. You will l love it.”
“Oh my! Pizza is so delicious!! I love pizza person since 3 years old, shhh… There very friendly staffs and a lot of napkins with draw so cool and funny stuffs.”
“Made it out to Rio Grande to try out their wings and other things, we've been hearing good reviews from others. We were not disappointed!! The parking looks bad from the street but there's some behind the building. We ordered wings, spinach artichoke dip, fish & chips and finished it off w a carrot cake. Also ordered drinks; root beer and the hard tea.The wings were fantastic! Perfectly crispy and not too saucy. We ordered 2 orders of 6 so we could try both the spicy boq and the honey sriracha sauces. They were not too spicy or too sweet, a very good blend of the flavors. The carrot cake was devine!! The best cake we have had in Ruidoso so far! Our server actually recommended the cake to us and I'm very glad he did!The spinach artichoke dip was okay, I wouldn't order it again. It was a little too cheesy and more spinach than artichoke and was lacking flavor. The fish & chips were alright, again I wouldn't order them a second time. A little too much batter on the fish and the tartar sauce was bland and the coleslaw was watery. The chips were perfect though!! Best fry I've had around Ruidoso so far!The root beer was delicious and their hard tea was pretty good, we were offered a chance to buy some to-go which was cool. The restaurant is really cozy too, all wood and warmth, and the tables are located upstairs. That was nice bc you can be away from the bar area to enjoy your meal w a more restaurant feel upstairs.Definitely recommend and we look forward to going back to try some burgers and steak!Parking: Not many spaces in front of restaurant but there are spaces in back”
“First time eating here and it was pretty good! The tacos had so much meat to divide into the 4 tacos, the salsa was very flavorful, good texture on the rice and the beans were good. They gave me 3 different salsas for the tacos and I liked all 3 but the orange colored one was my favorite. Great portion of food w the mini taco plate and the chips & salsa were good!! I look forward to trying more itemsI didn't visit the actual restaurant I ordered this meal through DoorDash. This all traveled very well!!”
“We arrived late, minutes away from closing time. The staff made no indication that they were closing soon and were very accommodating. McKenna was our server and she was very sweet and extremely helpful. I ordered a dish that they were not offering anymore and the kitchen still made it with a slightly different protein. It was excellent. My wife ordered the French Onion soup and it was the best she ever had. Her wedge salad was also spot on with fresh crispy iceberg and excellent dressing and toppings. We were extremely pleased and highly recommend The Rancher. We will be back!”
“We finally got to check out the Christmas show at Flying J Ranch in Ruidoso, and wow, it was like stepping into a holiday postcard! The whole place was lit up with lights and decorations that made the whole ranch sparkle. They had all these performances that really got me into the Christmas spirit – singers belting out classic carols and some really fun acts that were all about celebrating the season. The ranch had its usual cowboy vibe going on, but with a festive twist. I even got to enjoy a hearty Western-style dinner, which was delicious. And guess what? Santa made an appearance, which was a hit with the kids and, okay, maybe with me too. It was such a warm, inviting atmosphere, the kind that makes you want to sip hot cocoa and just soak in the joy of the season. I'm definitely planning to make this a new holiday tradition. It was the perfect mix of rustic charm and Christmas magic.”
