Understaffed. The owners are working the storefront and they are counting every olive and every other ingredient in their mind as they make sandwiches. So punchy. They're often on their phones playing Indian music or videos.
For me, Subways are often a meal stop of last resort. That usually means that I'm lazy or I'm in an area with nothing much else around, or it's late and everything that's not sit down dining is closed for the day. Being somewhat of a creature of habit, I usually order a 6" tuna sandwich toasted and take it home for a pairing with a favorite beer.
