I'm going to miss this place! My favorite biscuits and gravy, bacon that's always perfect - I even eat the orange garnish. I had planned to come in for breakfast on my birthday this year (which is in 3 days) but I got a little worried with their closing being scheduled for the following day. So... I may be back this week but if it doesn't happen, I'm happy I got one last fix!

Today my bestie travels home so we decided to try a new breakfast spot. We ended up at the Wet Hen Cafe. I really really wanted to love this place. It plays homage to their family chef that inspires them, and the community by selling local artisan crafts including artist prints, candles and jewelry. They also have a small book share shelf. The cafe is small but clean. However a little too small for my personal preference; some tables are so close you can touch the table next to you. For breakfast, the bestie ordered the ham and egg omelet and I, the fresh strawberry crepes and then we each shared. We came to the same concensus that the strawberries in the crepe were much too bitter to enjoy. The omelet and sliced potatoes on the other hand were very well cooked and seasoned nicely. The staff was all very nice. You can tell it's family run. The gentleman noticed my plate and asked if I wanted a box to take my crepes and I shared my opinion on its flavor and he did apologize. We still wanted to love this place so we decided to order lunch to go for later. We ordered the honey baked chicken sandwich with brie and even got the grilled roast beef for my husband. The gentleman wanted to make things right and included some of their cookies to make up for the not so sweet crepes. Well, that definitely made up for it. I waited to write this review so I can give a full review after lunch and Im glad I did. Not only was the sandwich Delicious (the sandwiches are the clear menu item winner in our books) the cookies are great too with just the right amount of chewyness. I gave 4 stars because even though it is a dine in and they bring your food out to the number you place on your table, it is still semi self serve as you order at the counter, fill your own drink and seat yourself, and even though the crepes missed the mark, the gentleman who checked in on us gave great customer service.

Excellent Potatoes!! In my never ending search for the US's best home fries/hash browns, these rare right up there. A thinly sliced method cooked crisp and tasty. The rest of the meal was just as good. Cute cafe with some original offerings I look forward to trying in the future. Great job Wet Hen!

I went here for the first time with my sister who had been there before. Finding vegan food it's never easy when you're unfamiliar with an area. The staff was so helpful putting together a meal for me. I highly recommend this place if you have special dietary needs!

The only reason I didn't give the 5, because it's little bit pricey. For a late and 2 eggs 1 small sausage 2 bacon ? almost 20 dollars. Very friendly welcoming and they seem to care about you and if you enjoy the meal.I would come back any time am in town

I love the atmosphere and the staff. I enjoyed the food as well, but I would have appreciated a little more ham on my sandwich. They provided a complimentary tiny cookie which was also delicious.

Small and very personal service. Great eat in or out, we have done both. Looking for a special place for fresh breakfast, pastries, pies and cookies this is it. The owners run their restaurant with pride. Great prices for both lunch and dinner

On the way to the airport and wanted to get in a good breakfast. Wet Hen Cafe is amazing!!!! Fantastic breakfast. Bacon and biscuits and gravy were phenomenal. Not to mention how incredibly nice the service was. What a gem!!

The positive part of my rating is based on the excellent food, cozy physical atmosphere, and easy parking. This place can be a little hard to find, as it is tucked into a little strip of shops, and the food is pricey, but those are just neutral FYIs. My main reason for only giving three stars is that we arrived at 1:15 today--they close at 2:00--but they were already furiously sweeping and mopping the place and counting money. It is a small place and a staff member was sweeping inches from us all around us as we ate (the food came fairly quickly). To compound the uncomfortable feeling that they wanted to rush us out of there, at 1:55, my dining companion wanted to grab a second cup of coffee but they had already emptied the pot without even asking if she wanted another cup (we were the only ones there at that point in the small physical space). Either a place is open until 2:00 or it's not. It was extremely rude and uncomfortable. Although the treatment would be different at earlier times, this negative message was such that neither of us is likely to return or to recommend the place to others.

I have lived in South Reno for 8 years. I had never been to Wet Hen Cafe until this week. I met my girlfriends at 8 o'clock on a snowy Thursday morning. There were a few diners in the tiniest dining room I've ever seen in my life. I was given a menu while I waited for my friends, and was told to order at the counter when I was ready. I was also given a coffee mug to serve myself Blind Dog coffee. They serve Tanner's House Blend YUM! They have a typical breakfast and lunch menu: Quiche, eggs with stuff, pancakes, omelettes, Sandwiches, soups, salads. I was wanting eggs and some kind of breakfast meat. This brought me to the decision of ordering the Parisian omelette which has bacon and avocado. The omelette was served with potatoes and toast. If you like good old fashioned potato chips you will love their potatoes. My omelette was very well put together. It was fluffy and cooked just right. The bacon was crispy and the avocado was creamy. The cheese on top was a bit waxy and not melted all the way. It tasted great though! It doesn't look like they do poached eggs so if you want a traditional Eggs Benedict you won't find that here. They use over medium eggs instead of poached. I am sure they are lovely but not for me. I liked dining at Wet Hen and will definitely be back. They have pie that I want to try and scones that looked amazing. I recommend Wet Hen for breakfast but be warned it gets cramped inside.

It's been a long while since I wrote my last review for Wet Hen. I agree with most of everything I said. It's still a great place with great atmosphere. The prices have increased significantly since 2011 and I want to make sure that is communicated. The prices are still reasonable but have risen like all of the other places have. The pandemic has of course changed how they do business and they have worked with each change as each one has come. Over the last year I have been in numerous times for their fantastic pastries and their excellent breakfasts and lunches. The sliced potatoes for breakfast are a highlight. Some of the best breakfast potatoes in Reno. The texture is not really offered at that many places so it's one I look forward to having. The soups are always on point and they have a good variety. I also really love those croissants. A truly guilty pleasure that I can have only on a rare occasion. Moving this from 4 to 5 stars was an easy decision and should have happened more than a year ago and I look forward to getting in to have a great "arnold palmer" in the near future.

Ordered the croissant sandwich and it was pretty good. Wish it had a sauce or additional flavor. Quick service and great atmosphere.
