Eating fish in NY is a bit difficult, because the ocean is not the Mediterranean; even more complicated is buying it to prepare it at home; fishmongers or fish houses are somewhat disappointing. Ocean Fish Market is a real exception. A considerable variety is always present, both thorn fish and molluscs and crustaceans. This is the best market for fresh fish and seafood. Shopping there is as if you went fishing right before cooking. They clean and descale the fish for you. Friendly staff with great customer service. This place has been around since Astoria was more residential. I grew up coming here with my parents. The longevity of the business speaks to the quality of their products. Highly recommended.
