I ordered their sesame chicken. It was disgusting. The chicken was over fried and tough to chew. The sauce was disgusting and definitely not the sweet sesame chicken flavor. The egg roll was extremely greasy. They forgot to pack my rice. When I called, a woman picked up the phone was extremely rude. She kept over talking me and the only solution she offered was to pack more rice the next time I order. Who said there would be a next time? When I asked how could she assure that, she proceeded to yell “fine we’ll Deliver it to you”. Just overall negative experience.

The driver said if I don’t tip he won’t give my change and he threatened to take care of me because I didn’t tip .
If only i could rate ZERO stars here!!! This place has the most god-awful service where they keep a watchful eye on your plate and hurry you to leave!! Waiter even rudely commented on my 15% tip NOT being at 20%!!! Service is BAD BAD BAD, and the food is nowhere close to being authentic Chinese! They ought to be ashamed of themselves!!!

Love the food, hate the service! Check before everyone finishes eating? Then comes around and asks who the one that’s paying? Lastly, the server came over and stood there while we signed the bill and put the tip. This isn’t the first time this has happened, it’s always with the same server. Do not recommend to dine in, just for take out!

Anise is a gem. For $12 you get a lunch that includes entree, rice, soup, a drink and a spring roll. Fortune cookie with the check. It is near impossible to beat this combination anywhere else in The Bronx. You may find a bigger selection (Golden Corral or another buffet) but the food will be bland and poorly done. This food is done right. The kung pao chicken, was lean, crisp and without fat or gristle. The spring roll was light and fried precisely. The vegetables were beautiful and delicious from the baby corn to the mushrooms and zucchini. This is the best venue to host a business lunch in Riverdale and in the Bronx, outside of Little Italy or Throggs Neck. The other two locations will be far more expensive and have little to no parking. City Island also. I strongly recommend this for a business meeting or a delicious lunch.Parking: Parking lot is down the block by Key Foods. It doesn't belong to the restaurant but the neighborhood is not busy at lunchtime.

Today's meal was inedible. The last 2 times were decent EXCEPT for truly awful sesame noodles (not sesame sauce and multiple spoons of sugar were added). There were lots of really fresh veggies and we were going to write a nice review. However, today was terrible from start to finish. There was SO MUCH SALT in the two main dishes and sides that they were inedible and a complete waste of money. This happened the very first time we tried Anise. Apparently, it was not an aberration but depends on who is cooking on the day? Good luck!
