Excellent! It's like stepping back in time once you walk through the door. All the sights and wonderful smells of a real old fashioned Italian Deli. The staff are warm and welcoming and the food is always excellent. There is a relatively rustic area with sturdy wooden tables and chairs where you can eat your sandwich there on the premises if you don't feel like taking your food on the road. You can't find too many places like this anymore and it's a shame. I can almost guarantee that you will be hard pressed to find a sandwich on par with them in all the 5 boroughs. The decor, the excellent service and the amazing food, what's not to love? If you're in the area then you definitely need to take the time to stop by. You won't be disappointed.

Pricey but tastes good

Had two sandwiches there back to back days, they were both phenomenal. At a $15 price point, it is expensive however they are large, dense, and high quality sandwiches. Shown in picture I had mortadella, prosciutto, fried eggplant, and mozzarella. All the ingredients felt fresh and easily beat out delis in other areas of NY. The place is nice as well and smells good.

I'VE BEEN GOING TO JOE'S DELI SINCE 2007VERY DELICIOUS FOOD AND TWO TABLES TO SIT AND EAT IF YOU'RE THAT HUNGRY !!! AT LEAST MORE THAN 20 TYPES OF SANDWICHES ON THE MENU AND YOU CAN ALSO MAKE IT TO ORDER. SANDWICHES ARE ALL FOOT-LONG FRESH HEROS AND HOMEMADE MOZZARELLA CHEESE. THEY ALSO SERVE HOT FOOD THAT WOULD MAKE AN ITALIAN GRANDMA PROUD.Vegetarian options: NOT A VEGETARIAN PLACE BUT A CARNIVORES HEART'S DELIGHTS - PARADISE ON EARTH !!!THE VARIOUS KINDS OF OLIVES, ARTICHOKE HEARTS, GRILLED GARDEN VEGETABLES MIGHT BE CONSIDERED VEGETARIAN DISHES.Parking: PARKING IS AVAILABLE IF YOU'RE WILLING TO DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK TO FIND A SPOT. IF YOU HAVE THE EXTRA CASH, THEN PAID GARAGES OR PARKING LOTS ARE AVAILABLE BUT YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER THE WALKING DISTANCE TO THE STORE. CONSIDER IT EXERCISE TO MAKE ROOM IN YOUR STOMACH.Wheelchair accessibility: THERE IS ROOM FOR ONLY ONE WHEELCHAIR IN THE STORE TO MOVE AROUND WITH ROOM TO SPARE. IF IT WAS WALKERS, THEN FOUR OR FIVE WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.

When it comes to picking the "best" Italian deli on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx it's not quite as simple as pointing to a single winner. It really depends on what you're looking for! Today I was looking for a loaded and delicious Italian sandwich and I found one at Joe's.

Went into Joe's Italian Deli today after we dropped our son off at Fordham. We had such an amazing experience as every member of the staff interacted with us, shared funny stories and even offered us different samples to try! We ordered two sandwiches and a stromboli. We ate the stromboli there and brought the sandwiches home for dinner. Everything was EXCELLENT! The meats were all freshly sliced, the rolls were perfect and withstood a 2 hour drive home without turning soggy. The place was immaculately clean and they had such a wide variety of Italian food items for sale. In addition to our lunch/dinner we bought a few giant jars of the best olives around and a giant jar of artichokes. If you happen to be in the area, don't miss out on this gem. In fact, it's worth a trip up to the Bronx!

I got the big Tony for a friend and the uncle Frank for me. Super good mozzarella and the sandwiches are very very good, mine had prosciutto, mozzarella, and roasted red peppers, I highly recommend it. Got a wedge of pecorino too. But it's hard to overstate how beautiful this store is, with the careful arrangement of all the salumeri and grocery items, and all the carefully painted signage. It's a real treat. I shared with an Italian American (2nd Gen) friend of mine some of these pictures and she said "I want my house to look like this". Me too!

Took my husband to Joe’s Italian Deli today. The food as always is exceptional. My husband had the Stromboli, which he said was the best he ever tasted. We also got the homemade bocconcini and it was delicious. I buy a lot of food from this deli and I never once left disappointed.

Hands down, the best fresh mozzarella money can buy. You'd have to go to Italy to get it as good as it is here. You won't find better anywhere.

customer service 10/10 welcomed when we entered. offered my companion a sample of the stromboli she was eyeing. got a slice of cured pork. made sure to ask if we ate pork. felt like valued customers the entire time. food 4.5/5captain meat and cheese monster on the softest bread. would definitely add hot peppers and pickles next time to provide much needed crunch. stromboli has 3 diff meats, broccoli rabe and eggplant but doesn't taste like a mishmash. everything comes together and amazing nub of warm bread in the middle wow. def must get. captain meat and cheese monster on the softest bread. stromboli has 3 diff meats, broccoli rabe and eggplant but doesn't taste like a mishmash. everything comes together and amazing nub of warm bread in the middle wow. def must get.
