We ran out for a quick bite and ended up at Chavela’s. They took us even though they were crowded and we did not make reservations! Make reservations!Staff was very friendly and helped us find things on the menu that we could eat. I am vegetarian. Waiter literally pulled up pictures of items on his phone to show us. I came here with a friend to catch up and it was an amazing meal!Food: The food was great overall! I had the bistec taco and salsa verde chicken enchiladas — absolutely amazing! 5/5 for the mole and the homemade conchas. As for the atmosphere, it’s colorful and lively, the staff is happy to be there and they demonstrate it with their warmth and friendliness.Now the food was not Mexico City standards, but it was probably the best Mexican food anywhere on this side of Brooklyn. I highly recommend the chicken mole which has a velvety chocolate and nutty taste.
