It’s always the authentic eateries that strike a chord with me! Absolutely INCREDIBLE goat curry with buss up shut (roti) the goat was so tender and falling off the bone, the curry sauce was absolute perfection and great for dipping the roti in. The pumpkin and potato came separately to the curry which I think is genius to not mix up the flavours. The roti was cooked and torn up to perfection. Really authentic and you could tell the chef has made this for years and perfected the recipe.I will be thinking about this dish for days to come.lady who served me was an absolute angel as well, had a million things to do at once and all by herself but was attentive with great customer service skills, place was clean, good atmosphere and vibe with music playing and a bar in the middle with decent seating options for diners. 10/10 will be back

Love this place! If you love authentic Caribbean culture this is it! From the ambience, to the food, to the drinks, to the warm island hospitality…this spot has it! I’ve tried most of their dishes and some of my favorites are the curried ones. Reminds me of my grandmother’s curry. The food is rich, flavorful and beautifully plated. Love the wings, Mac n cheese, and the chadon beni shrimp. But let me tell you about that Trini corn soup…if you don’t have it as a starter, get it to go! And be low key about it because you’re not gonna want to share! Check out their IG page for nights they have DJ’s playing. Vibes are always high!
I was sooo looking forward to coming here. I called get an error message voicemail full. I take the bus here 25 min in the rain. They are supposed to be open. The door is locked. No sign. No reason. I leave hungry and disappointed

Island Shack is my oasis away from home, Trinidad is my country, and I lived in Jamaica for 7 years. So I luv the Caribbean vibe and the rum punch !! The food is authentic Caribbean dishes from Trinidad and Jamaica.

Horrible customer service, need to get a new person running the ship because the way they do business is ridiculous. Long wait times are worth it for quality food, however add on bad customer service and rude waitresses? Then it doesn't become worth it, love the chicken patties at this spot but can't keep eating at a spot that doesn't treat recurring customers with the proper respect.

The presentation of the place looks like they're still building it I wasn't even sure if they were open. Then I saw a young lady not sure if she was the owner standing in front of the door holding a broom as if she was trying to block me from coming in so I asked is this place open? because I wasn't sure if they were done building it I just heard loud music playing. She did not respond she just pointed at the door so I said I'm sorry I can't hear you because the music is so loud she pointed out the door again and said what does that sign say?which I feel is rude instead of say ing hi welcome yes we are. I brushed It Off and she asked me if I'm staying in or taking out I told her staying in. I asked if I could sit outside she told me that's not part of the restaurant if I take out I can do it but her whole vibe was kind of off,I don't know but was definitely not feeling her energy it wasn't very welcoming. So I sat down and ordered assuming they might add a little twist onto their meal options. Unfortunately they're its no better than the next restaurant if anything for a lesser price I could have bought a better meal at another Trini restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anybody even if you like trini food. The food is not good the pictures probably look nice in the reviews some ppl posted but it is just plain tasting and lacking flavor. Definitely had way better trini food from cheaper restaurants.

First of all, I love the vibe here. Very, local, neighborhood aunts and uncles coming by to eat, drink, and lime. Then there's the food...soooo good. The coconut schrimp was to die for. The goat Buss up shut roti was heavenly. The drinks were nice and strong. I will definitely be back with friends

The food was very good. The drinks? Weren't particularly potent, and the glasses were not filled about a third from the top. Seemed family run, and they were very nice. Service was exceptional. With the exception of the alcholic beverages. It was a very nice experience.

If you’re looking for some consistently good food with a Caribbean back home ambience this is the place. Had the mango chow, callaloo, rice and peas, vegetables with some stew chicken everything tasted like my grandparents food. It was so good didn’t have time to take pics ?I’ll take some next time.
