“This was my second time at NY Axe Williamsburg and they really upgraded their game since they were bought out in Fall 2023. They now have interactive screens over the wall where you throw the axes so that axe throwing doesn't get stale, including a Zombie Killer game and a version of the card game 21 (where you need to hit certain cards, in this case with an axe, to get exactly 21 points). It was a great way to spend time with my family and the instructors were very friendly and tried to give instructions to help improve our skills. I would definitely go back!“

Many waiters were serving us and they were constantly checking if we needed something. They were refilling out waters all the time and it was just very polite. What was interesting is the "daily special menu", the waiter was standing their reading about the daily special for like at least 5 mins and we had to stop him from continuing. Either way, we got the bucatini cacio e pepe and it was very yummy. My husband got the veal and it was not the most photogenic dish, but tasted much better than it looked. We also got the octopus, which was soaked in balsamic, also very nice. Overall a very nice traditional Italian place.“

We ordered the Caesar salad, VCR pizza, espresso pot de creme dessert and a cocktail. First of all, my cocktail (Night Rally) is soooo delish!! The Caesar salad is an extreme 10/10. I absolutely loved it! The VCR pizza… another 10/10! The sauce and pepperoni and a bit spicy for those who are sensitive to spice. Nonetheless it was phenomenal. The dessert was such a pleasant, light surprise! I asked if they have an affogato and the substitute was such a relief! We loved it. The DelRay was a juicy and savoring slice with perfect tomato sauce, and salty greasy saucers of meat. They have chili oil and chili flakes which only help magnify the flavors. The white kale has a base of a nut-free kale pesto with cheese and garlic. This one was a sleeper hit. I usually don’t like white pies but this one blew my expectations.We also had a tres leches cake which was soaked in sweet milk and had a sponge texture. For many years, it was our go-to for weekend lunches, pizza with our daughter, and late-night dinners with friends.This particular Saturday at 7 pm, the joint was already jumping. There are various rooms at Lil' Frankie's; your experience might differ depending on where you sit. Everyone enters adjacent to the bar, which, if memory serves, is first come, first serve. Adjacent to the bar is the main dining room with seats in the hall and the back; Frank would put tables on the ceiling if he could figure out how. Through an adjacent door is the Pizza oven room with a few large booths and some other tables, and then you enter "the back," which is a long and narrow seating area with an outside patio. Don't worry; it doesn't matter where you sit; you are here for the food.We ordered a bottle of wine ASAP (Gavi, a dry Italian) and the fried calamari. It was exceptional; I might even go so far as to say the Calimari alone is worth the trip. Crisp and crunch with a soft, delicate interior is difficult to achieve with squid. Monday noon is not busy at all so we did walk-ins and got seated right away.Pistachio & SalsicciaIt features mozzarella, pistachio pesto, sausage, pecorino romano, basil. We had never had pistachio pesto before so we were intrigued to try. The basil on top and the extra virgin olive oil’s flavors didn’t fall short in comparison to pesto and sausage. I got hints of pistachio but not much from eating this pizza. The sausages were crumbly and fell kinda everywhere when I cut the pizza. The flavor is new, just not impressive.RicottaGot a lighter pizza to hopefully offset the other heavier one. It is indeed light, but I didn’t get too much from tomato sauce: I didn’t get the acidity or tanginess or sweetness, it is like my eyes were telling me I was eating a pizza rosse but my taste buds said otherwise. The ricotta was nice and creamy even after being torched. But after the pizza got colder, the ricotta didn’t want to be stay with the pizza dough anymore.I didn’t like one particular thing: they delivered both pizzas at the same time to the table and the pistachio & salsiccia pizza was a bit colder, so the cheese started to harden and there were no stretch of the mozzarella.I loved about one thing: the chewiness and the bounecyness of their crust. I wouldn’t say they have the lightest crust (compared to the other Naple style pizza places I have eaten), but their crust is the most mochi-like one. We finished up with the tiramisu and cappuccino, which were both great.
