What a hidden gem of a restaurant! Why call it a cafe? Next door is Starbucks and that's a cafe with coffee & desserts. I personally feel that the desserts are better here at the American Cafe. This place serves up great casual comfort food. Many daily specials posted on their blackboards. Best of both worlds right next door to each other and so near the AMC Theater. Stopped in after touring Garvies Point Museum and Preserve. The three of us all choose different sandwiches and loved them. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We left wishing we did not live so far away so we could frequent the American Cafe on a frequent basis.

Looking for a place for lunch and found the American Cafe which is a storefront restaurant. Huge menu featuring a lot of Latin specialties.Asked the owner what he recommended and stated the burgers. I tried the Buffalo Style Burger with lettuce, buffalo sauce, blue cheese. My wife chose the Fried Egg Burger with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and cheddar. Both were very good.If you are in Glen Cove at lunch time, you must try the American Cafe.
