If you are visiting Manhatten would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Check in quick and easy. We had a studio apartment with kitchen with top of the range facilities and coffee making machine. Bathroom/shower excellent.Bedroom spacious with king size bed. Staff very personable and helpful. Plenty of eating establishments within walking distance.[One right next door, ] 5/10 minute walk to nearest Metro for Uptown and Downtown. Also local Bus stop close buy which goes to Cruise Piers. Definitely 5*.

Had a great weekend with my family in NYC! The front desk was exceptional! From both front desk girls --especially Sherry (thanks Sherry!) and David! Sherry was so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgable! She was always patient and helpful! David was also helpful and considerate! We were running late back to the hotel for a delivery and I was able to speak to David, who was very assuring that it wasn't a problem until we were able to get back! So great! Took alot of stress off of us rushing back. Overall, enjoyed experience and look forward to coming back to NYC. Thank you! ?

We have just returned from a 4-night stay with 2 adults and 2 kids (9 and 11). The location is brilliant, as you are fairly central with access nearby to a subway station. We travelled here by taxi from the airport $80 and then return by car organised by the hotel for $100. It would be simple to get from JFK via underground to Jamaica and then from Jamaica to Lexington Ave 53, which is close to the hotel. Warning - if travelling later afternoon to JFK, allow 2 hours to get there, we were advised an hour and it cut it fine. The rooms are a great size and the beds are really comfortable. We were at the front of the hotel and it was noisy late at night and early in the morning, but we expected this in a big city… and there were ear plugs in the bedroom drawer, which helped. The kitchenette is a great amenity and you are provided with tea bags and coffee pods. There is a microwave oven, kettle, 2 gas hobs, plus crockery and cutlery. There are a few shops nearby where you can buy food - we ate out for most meals, but bought stuff in the room for breakfast. The service charge of $39 per night includes $10 a day for snacks from the snack bar - it’s enough to get you a drink and snack. We didn’t use the lounge, so can’t comment on this. I’d certainly return, as this was a great base to explore the city.

I just called to get information about transportation service. The young man or older man that picked up the phone was short and rude towards me. Telling me that they don’t provided that and that the Bellman will assist me with that. I had some other questions, like booking, breakfast,etc.. He cut me off and was short with me! I was going to book my stay here but forget it.He said they will help and hung up the phone.

First time in New York & I really liked the location of this hotel. It was very convenient and close for all the places my friends and I wanted to try out. Very clean in the rooms, very spacious & loved the fact that there was a mini kitchen in our room. The customer service is a 11/10!! Front desk staff over night, not so much, but EVERYONE else was so nice and helpful! I definitely recommend this hotel!Rooms: Spacious and clean. Only thing was the fan in the bathroom didn’t work.

Wonderful customer service at your front door. Romeo, Marco and Lenny were all so friendly greeting us as well as giving us directions and help. The young women at your front desk were not as helpful. We found them to be rude. It was as if we were bothering them. Our friends were delayed getting into their room by a couple of hours. Our other friends had a large bug in their room, a hairdryer that over heated and were notified they were checking out when in fact they were staying a couple of more days as planned. Your front desk was not eager to help with any of this. Our particular room was nice and the maid was wonderful and helpful with our needs. A nice place that needs more training in some areas. Your front desk personel is the face of your business and it's not a good look currently. We checked in on Saturday October 7 at 4 pm and checked out Thursday morning, October 12. The lady the evening of the 11th was very rude when we asked about checking out. The city is wonderful. We will be back but all 3 couples agree we will look for another place to stay. At almost $500 per night we expected much better.

Leaving a review specifically about the car service to the airport so others don’t get scammed like we did. We asked the bellman for a taxi to the airport and he said the hotel’s car service would charge a flat rate of $100 to go to JFK. We specifically asked him if this included tip and he said yes. For context, we took a yellow cab from the airport to the hotel on the way in and paid around $95 including tax, tip, and tolls. Given the weekend, we thought $100 flat rate would be good. By the time we paid at the airport, they had charged a credit card fee, extra $10 charge for making an additional stop at one other terminal, and tip was not included. In all we paid $150 for the trip instead of the $100 they insisted it would cost. Don’t fall for this scam. Just take a yellow cab to the hotel. The hotel itself was fine. Clean and in a good location, though some of our colleagues also staying there complained about the siren noise from the fire station next door. I think it depends on what side of the hotel your room is on.

Staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Hotel overall is very nice and clean. Location is great. Only downside is the noise. It's located next to a fire station and police precinct and we were woken up by sirens and other city noises every night even on the 16th floor. Every other aspect of the hotel was perfect.

Th fifty sonesta exceed all my expectations, while it is true this hotel is not the cheapest, it pays each penny because its location, nearest to Manhatan cneter, metro stations, restaurants, diners, bus stops, etc. All the crew from the doorman (Mr Romeo, what a gentleman and excelent person) to the manager, all of them very care for the customer. very confrotable room, everyday cleaned with care. The best choice that we made to stay in New York. Thanks Fifty sonesta Crew!! we enjoy a lot your hotel.

Worst hotel bed I have ever slept on I think, super hard like a rock, and my coworker in a different room said the same thing. Took hours to fall asleep the first night, woke up with a sore hip after a few hours of finally sleeping. Second night only slept a few hours. Third night same story as first night, finally fell asleep but woke up with sore hip half way through mornung and have hard time sleeping on my other side. Also, the comforter is so hot I had to sleep with a bare sheet, which made it even harder to fall asleep. My coworker said the same thing. They had no blankets in between only the sheet or the comforter made for below zero temp. The worst hotel bed. 3 nights of 4 hours of sleep.Other than that, they are friendly and location is great, but nothing special about the place and nothing terrible.

Check in time was extremely long . 1 person at the front desk and 15 people in line. I got to my room and the bathroom was falling apart - nothing worked and there was NO hot water. I tried to call the front desk and none of the numbers worked . So I had to downstairs and stay in line instead of calling.Cracked mirror in the bathroom, wall paint falling apart. Smells like mould. I don’t know how this hotel is 4 stars.Absolutely astonished. Spend your money elsewhereUpdate 09/10Hotel responded and said they would like to show me the amenities and give na mother chance. However , they still didn’t fix the phone in my room so I’m unable to call the reception- they don’t seem to care at all.- I’m still here until tomorrow if you want to make up for this bad customer service. To add to the list of bad devices - no umbrellas (how can 4 star hotel not have umbrellas), hotel is dirty and dark.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and location is great and close to the action. I was not very impressed with our room- everything seemed cheaply made, the room had an odor (possibly like cigarette smoke?), and the remote did not work for the TV so we couldn’t use it.

Family trip to NY, 2 adults and 3 children. Rooms are so big for NY which is why I picked this hotel. I rang beforehand and was advised our room would have a street view and balcony, but when we arrived this didn’t happen so was disappointed as would have paid for upgrade in this instance when I got the email before our trip. Reception did recommend next day to come back to them but we decided to just stay in current room as didn’t want hassle of waiting around as wanted to go out for the day. Room had 2 big double beds and a big sofa bed. Kitchen with kettle, fridge, microwave, Delph etc. No great view but we were only in the room on waking and late at night. Cleaners in every morning to make beds and fresh towels. Door men very friendly and every day we used our credit for drinks for the kids when we returned that evening. Location was great. About 15 min walk to Times Square and Central Park. One thing I missed though was a bar in the hotel just to unwind with a drink at the end of the day but no biggie. Would return to this hotel

The Fifty Sonesta was the perfect stay for our family! We had three families with children. We cannot compliment the doormen enough! They made our trip fabulous! They sang to my daughter for her birthday, helped with directions and recommendations, and were just a joy. It made us feel like we were coming home when we arrived back after a long day. We made sure to take a photo with Romeo before leaving. Our room was huge by New York standards and made for a wonderful stay. We could not have picked a better hotel and will be sure to recommend it to friends and plan a return stay soon.

Hotel was in good position with most main attractions within 15-20 minutes walk, Room was okay but tired, in need of a new bath as the enamel was coming away, and coffee machine leaked everywhere, only other issue was the noise from fire and police station at the back of the hotel and the extractor fans from restaurants below, but for the amount of time we were in the room it was okay, the major plus points of the hotel were the doorman, firstly Romeo, so friendly and nothing was ever to much trouble with his knowledge of nyc and where to visit and best ways to get there going out of his way to make sure we were okay, secondly smaile always on hand to get cars/taxis whenever was needed cannot talk more highly of these two, they made our stay at this hotel (Thank you both). Try morning star cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner Juliana’s in Brooklyn for the best pizza Carmine’s on Broadway for best value as it’s family style And Ess a bagel
