Roni was an excellent server, making appropriate and interesting recommendations. And always attentive. And smiling. And pleasant. The food quality and freshness was very very good. Portion size was also sensible. And the ambiance was nice, peaceful with a modestly interesting buzz. I'm a huge fan!

Wonderful omakase experience! I went alone as I was up on a business trip. For the price, I felt it was a really great deal. The fish was as fresh as I've had in NYC, and the courses and amount of food far exceeded expectations. I had mapped out a late night pub to get a second meal (you know how light these meals can sometimes be!) but definitely didn't need it. Left full and satisfied. Service was spectacular. The gentleman helping me at the back sushi bar anticipated my needs and was proactive and attentive without being overbearing. Fantastic job!

Loved everything! The food, the service and the atmosphere. Great happy hour menu, fresh seafood and super yummy desserts! This is definitely one of my favorite Japanese restos in NYC! Highly recommended!

I really loved their tuna sushi rolls, and their Asahi draft was great. I would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy decent rolls with crisp Japanese draft beer.

Smelly fish and overpriced sushi. Spent $180 that night, luckily I didn’t get food poisoned. I could’ve gone to a more authentic restaurant that’s worth the money. Will never go back.

Chic looking restaurant with really surprisingly good quality fish. We loved the hamachi & karaage apps as well as all of the rolls we got.

My new favorite sushi restaurant in New York. Fantastic, excellent interesting selection of daily fish. Expertly prepared. And prices that seem more like your neighborhood sushi joint.

We always have wonderful time when we go to the restaurant. The waiter always recommends us what is fresh and give us great suggestions. The sashimi melts in your mouth. Great quality of food!.

Excellent service and quality in everything I ordered. The Kaisen Hitsumabushi had an assortment of fish, tamago, eel, and roe over a bed of rice. The fish was very fresh. The sweet savory glaze of the eel helped flavor the rice. The egg was spongey, mired with flavor. I especially enjoyed the different ways it could be eaten. Toppings and miso soup enriched the dish with complementary flavors. The dish was pricey ($50) but honestly could be split with two people to make it somewhat reasonable.I also ordered the oyster which was very fresh, did not taste briney at all, and had a meaty texture. For $3 each I may just get a half-dozen with rice and call that a delicious lunch. Can’t wait to go back to try the sushi, sashimi, and nigiri!Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance and bathroom are on street level - there are low tables that can easily accommodate a wheelchair.

I ordered it by delivery. This is proper Japanese sushi. It looks like something you'd see at lunchtime in Japan.Shari is small. It's the perfect size for drinking at a bar and eating it.As for the toppings, the lean tuna and salmon roe were delicious. The sea urchin had a strong taste, so it wasn't good. The white fish was generally average to poor quality. If I order it next time, I don't think I'll order it as a set. That said, I think it's a good deal for $59 per serving for this quality in New York. The disappointing point was that there were no chopsticks included. It was good because I was at home, but I think it would be a problem because I was on the go.I wanted to go to a restaurant and try something other than sushi.

Went with my friend on her birthday to try this east side Japanese cuisine treasure.By all means, I still have the lingering taste of the freshness of the sashimis in my taste buds: that’s a good thing! For apps we had Agedashi Tofu, and skewers Momo (thigh) and Ebi (shrimp). The tofu is umami, as the name suggested it was soaked in dashi. Because it was fried before soaking, the tofu sucked all the flavors from the dashi and was able to deliver, what I like to say, the flavor of the ocean and seaweed.Momo (thigh) and Ebi (shrimp) was just fine. The shrimps were a bit tough (maybe overcooked?) rather than bouncy (probably shouldn’t expect this as they were grilled). The thighs were nicer in taste: juicy and not overly seasoned. I wouldn’t compare the quality to the ones I had from official yakitori places, but for exciting palates, they are ample. We had the Kaisen Hitsumabushi, and tuna toro and salmon toro for sashimis. The volume of the food is enough for two gals and we were actually quite stuffed at the end. Nothing really had to be said about sashimi: it is all about the freshness and the source. For the quality, the slices were priced reasonably. They also had “meal boxes/platters” at the entrance of you are just craving sashimis and wanna a quick to go.Fair warning, the bowl for Hitsumabushi we had was quite shallow. The dish is meant to display all kinds of sashimis of the day on top of the rice, so it is wide but not deep (almost like chirashi but with steamed rice not sushi rice). Generally, if the rice and sashimi’s quality is top-notch, and the chefs do not do too much “imaginative tricks”, the dish can be guaranteed to be at least good.We saved a bit room for the birthday cake, and that’s where I felt unreasonable about certain things (though many restaurants tend to do it): they charge you for the cake slicing fees. Cost me to just to slice the cake we brought in? Honestly quite dis-encouraged to host any celebration event here from this action.Nonetheless, if you crave for some quality sashimi, and you happen to be in the area, it is a decent place to go without worrying spending money on bad fish and getting sick. They got really trustworthy sources and they have tunas they bought from auctions from time to time.
