“Food price / quality (value) rating 8. I feel they're a little bit over priced for what you're getting. Check these charges for our dinner for two, that are considerably higher than comparable restaurants. Although I really like this place, where your meal includes bread and a salad (not a given at restaurants today), my opinion is that they are priced about 15% higher than competitive and comparable restaurants.”
“Stumbled upon this place this afternoon after being in the area for a local gym I was curious about. Tucked on a side street in the corner lies Forrest Sidestreet cafe. From hot dogs to sandwich’s they have you covered. After talking to a local I went with the Philly burger and fries. And let me tell you I was blown away! The customer service, and quality of food all a reason to get on over here.”
“I was told that I had to go to Vinny’s and get their famous sandwich “The Steak Margarita” and let me tell you I know why it’s famous!! The owner and staff were super friendly and engaged me as soon as I walked in! Places like this with people and food like this are very rare nowadays! A true gem!”
“I ordered both a to-go order and ate in. The grilled cheese sandwich came on sourdough bread, which, while not my favorite, was very enjoyable. They have a nice selection of drinks, jarred goods, and pastries.”
“We stumbled upon this gem while visiting Pawling Antiques round the corner and we are thrilled we did!The owner was super sweet and friendly and his young son working with his dad was adorable! The place was busy when we entered but we were still made to feel special and didn't wait long. We plan on coming back regularly as it was a special small local business with a kind owner. Oh yeah...did I mention the coffee was AMAZING??!!! Got the Braziliian blend (I like it bold) and the flavor was fantastic! They even have a room in the back to enjoy a bite or sit and sip. He'll be getting our business for a long time to come. Thanks Willie!”
“Very good deli that I stopped at recently! I ordered a BEC on an everything bagel. It is also a little convenience store that I wandered through and found some really cool looking snacks. We also got a fudge brownie and it had chocolate chips. The staff is super friendly, my boyfriend accidentally spilt his coffee at the counter and the women working the register was very kind about it. Accidents happen! I'll definitely go back as I saw their chicken salad in to-go containers but I want a chicken salad sandwich next!”
“I love the pizza here. I had a slice the other day with chicken and veggies on it; it was so delicious. I also like that they make a different flavored rice ball every time I’m in.”
“The staff are all so kind and helpful! They saved our Birria taco birthday party! Fantastic selection, amazing value! We are very happy we found them! We will be back soon!”
“Last night, "The Doors" were awesome!. The food was unbelievably rich and delicious! I totally recommend it. Definitely will be back for another great time!”
“Anyone passing through Pawling NY or if you live there need to stop by and try her unique dishes, I have not had one bad meal from this woman. Her prices are very reasonable and portions are generous, some meals can feed you twice :)”
“Definitely one of the best Chinese takeout in the area. They have lots of menu choices and online ordering. Food is consistently tasty and I find it to be much less greasy than many others in the area. Plaza has plenty of parking for pickup and staff is friendly. Prices are always on par with your average Chinese takeout as well. While I don't think they deliver it is well worth the drive for me.”
“All I got was a small coffee to go, but it was a nice medium roast and, wouldn't you know, the best coffee buzz of my life. Might be back to try other things!”
“I found this pub on looking for a place to stop on a long road trip and I'm so glad I did. Great burgers. Friendly crowd. Easy to get to from the main road.”
“This is one of the ONLY places we'll get pizza from. The pizza is always delicious, and the garlic bread Parm is also amazing. And the price is always right! They are always friendly when we come in. We absolutely love this place.”
“It was okay. We felt it was your average Chinese food, nothing to write home about. Our favorites were the crab Rangoon and the boneless spare ribs. Both were cooked to perfection. The fried wontons, fried dumplings and sweet and sour chicken were all barely warm and chewy, when we got home we had to re-heat all these. They almost tasted old. General tso was okay. Flavor was good but chicken needed to be crunchier, and we found numerous bones which was just unappetizing.Although we didn't hate it, there were good parts, we will be trying out other places in the area first before going back.”
“I wish delivery was available but the take out is always ready quickly. When I called recently to place an order the call wouldn't go through so it's easier to stop there and order or order online. The food is always good.”
“From the outside, Karen’s is a pretty unassuming place. The exterior is simple and yet on any given morning, the parking lot is always packed and today, I finally found out why.The whole building is charming. Walking in you kind of feel like you entered into an old school kind of diner situation. Even on a crowded day the restaurant feels spacious and you don’t get the “congested,” noisy feeling of your typical small town restaurant. While I wasn’t a fan of the gray interior, there’s great artwork on the walls and a lot of natural light brightening everything up. Service was speedy and it was always relatively easy to find someone to top off your coffee or grab what you needed. The prices at Karen’s are great! I ordered the Polish Special for $10.50, I believe, and a corn muffin. The Polish Special came with kielbasa, two eggs, toast, and home fries. Everything was delicious, especially the corn muffin—definitely one of the best I’ve had. On a slightly negative note, I felt like the kielbasa could have been a little crispy and I was a little put off by how the coffee was served in paper cups. All things considered though, given the great atmosphere, I’m looking forward to making this a regular spot for a weekend meal.”
“Froggy’s in Pawling has quickly become my favorite breakfast and lunch deli in the Carmel/Patterson/Pawling area. Not only is the food incredible but the prices are also hard to beat. I can trust that every time I go to get a sandwich it will knock my expectations out of the park which is something no other deli has consistently done! Great job to the Froggy’s crew keep up the good work and I’ll be back tomorrow!”
“I placed an order at work for 20 employees who hit a goal. They each ordered something different and I called and spoke to the manager, Lilly, the day before to make sure they could accommodate. I had given her names and orders and when I came to pick up at the promised time, each person had their lunch in a bag with their name on it with utensils, sauce and napkins! They even helped me carry everything out to my car! I was happy with the process and the crew was happy to have something other than pizza or a wedge. I will be doing this again! Thanks to Lilly and your crew!”
“The graffiti-lettered sign is hard to read from the roadway, but make the effort to check this place out. The food is delicious and affordable. The staff is very friendly. Intimate dining area with two tables. Refreshments and bottled water in the refrigerator. Cash and card accepted. Unpaved parking in front.”
“The macaroons are amazing. I highly recommend you get one. The bubble teas is good too. The Oreo bubble tea was nothing to boast about kinda just tast d like Oreos and milk. I’m used to more of a blend or a flavored boba. All in all the brown sugar diamond bubble tea was amazing. This is one of those spots that actually uses real tea, as opposed to just milk and powder. Very good I will be going back.”
“The food is the best you can get around town. Owner is friendly and positive. It's nice and quaint. Would recommend to everyone I know. must try before you die.”
“Took a chance on a Sunday drive by. My only suggestion is that the restaurant be renamed “Really, really good eats.” Great food, service, atmosphere, and nice live music. Perfect place to bring friends or celebrate a special occasion.”
“I wish I found this place sooner. Walking in the door, their greeting makes you feel like family and it's obvious they are genuinely happy to have you as a patron. The food is amazing and the prices are reasonable. Been craving a Rueben Sandwich and they didn't disappoint. Perfectly done!”
“First time trying Rocco's. Has parking and looks like an old style diner which gives it atmosphere and a look that's not seen much anymore. Wine and beer be fine, they serve both. Pasta dishes and pizza are on the menu. All was well until check out time, when paying. If paying by card, you get charged with a fee. Wish we had known cause tip would have been higher. Part of the tip went for the fee. We'll be back though. Next time we'll pay in cash.”
“Not only is the store front so cute and fun but the baked goods are amazing and affordable. I ordered a vintage style heart cake for my birthday and when I went to pick it up I also got cookies and macarons. Everything was delicious and the staff were friendly and kind. I was given a cake pop for free for my birthday. Also when designing the cake they were very responsive via email which worked out great for me. I’ll definitely be back for more.”
“If you're going to get a flat tire, I strongly recommend that you get one on NY-22, right in front of this deli, as I did. The staff are lovely (a man and his mother) and speak Italian to one another. They make their own mozzarella, soup, and at least some pastries, if not all. Cannoli are filled to order and excellent. Another pastry (crostata?), cut into squares with a shortbread-like crust, cherry jam and chocolate was even more spectacular and something that I *must* come back for. The man told me it was homemade. The sfogliatelle pastry was a little tough and stale, but the thick, ricotta-rich filling was delicious. To be fair, these things have a very short shelf life. I gave it a few minutes in the toaster oven when I finally made it home and the texture was far improved. The son patiently answered my questions [e.g. how to properly pronounce "sfogliatelle," how much the fresh mozzarella costs (about $11 / lb)] and the mother kindly warmed up some pasta e fagioli for me. Sandwiches seem to be the focus here -- the menu is vast! -- but I sorely needed the warm-you-from-the-inside-out comfort of soup at that moment. The rich broth full of red beans, potatoes, and carrots absolutely hit the spot. It's too bad that it took a flat tire to get me in this place. We've been driving by for years and have clearly been missing out all this time!”
“This is a rare combination of great product, knowledgeable and gracious staff, and a dedicated owner who’s a coffee-jack-of-all-trades. Want a great on-the-premise roasted bean for your french press, no problem. Have a moody Italian espresso machine that needs serviced after years of neglect, say no more. John does it all and with a smile on his face. Small towns rarely have these types of establishments or purveyors any more. Sherman is so lucky that it does.”
“I went with my fiancé and kids for the first time to try the food and it was absolutely delicious. The burgers and fries were absolutely delicious and flavorful. We didn't get to try the ice cream/shakes but we have decided that we will return again for lunch and ice cream. Highly recommend the place and prices are reasonable. The owner was also there and very friendly to all customers and made sure they were taken care of enjoyed their meals. Staff was absolutely excellent. Great family place.”
“I am a Malaysian from Ipoh, and from where we come from we know what is truly good authentic Malaysian food. And this is as authentic as it gets. To top it off, the portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and the owner is really friendly. Not to be missed!”
