“Food and vibes at The River Merchant were so good! Probably the best Caesar salad I've ever had, and the added blackened chicken was perfect. Our server Lorelei was great, and suggested leaving our beer cheese behind from the pretzel app for our fries which was such a clutch suggestion. The salmon croquettes were also delicious. Lots of wins at this restaurant, definitely would recommend.“
“My wife and I drove 55 minutes to this restaurant. We heard about it in a Gluten free group. She had the Gluten free Oyster platter, I had the Oyster PoBoy. They bother were amazing. I know it was a seasonal menu, but I was impressed with the PoBoy. Most places put a powerful sauce that overpowered the taste of the main ingredient. This was poetic, and the artists have me begging for more. Bravo!!Dietary restrictions: Great for gluten free!Parking: Well it's downtown Kent.Kid-friendliness: Well it's a bar, and has pool tables. If you don't mind that then it's fine.“
“Very unique eatery! They have Boba and specialty cookies upfront, and in the back is the diner. A group of six on a Sunday took about 20 minutes to seat. Their food was so good and they have specialty drinks. For instance, I got a Diet Coke with lime and coconut and foam on top, which was amazing. The hubs got a to-die-for cinnamon roll. You can customize their Avocado Eggs Benedict so I added a tomato, spinach and a side of bacon which completed it. Everything we tried was great, and we will definitely be back.“
“Nice pub. 2 story. Tv screens for sports. Very busy on weekends. Chicken wings are amazing- must try. Salads were large and very good. Hamburger was good but the least favorite of our try for the day. Extensive menu. Wasabi aioli is a must have! Difficult to maneuver to tables as they make use of every inch of space. Very noisy. If with a family outing for a visit may want to try for lunch or during the week.Parking: Parking during the week paid. On weekends it's free. Plenty of parking but not really close. City lots and then walk.“
“Overall the experience was good. I was disappointed in the portion size of the appetizer we received. The potato skins, listed at $12 for 6 skins, came and they were very small potatoes. About the size of a half dollar coin but maybe smaller. So for $12 not a great choice and a bad surprise. Also ordered the Walleye Taco, but it was unoriginal, just a piece of fish an onion slice and lettuce. Only came with one small taco for $8! So the beginning of the meal not so great. We actually visited this location after a radio ad stating Mondays were 1/2 pound burger and Fries special. When we arrived the menu was VERY specific though and the burger special was for just the Black and Blue burger. Which two of us got and it was very delicious. The meat was very good. I also enjoyed the French fries. Our third party member opted for the Philly cheesesteak instead and said it was ok but not worth the $20 price. So not trying to be negative, just honest opinion. The restaurant was packed by the time we left, so very happy we came early at 4:30 pm. Our server did a good job. He was a very serious person, Lol. But everything came out as ordered. This was our first visit to Bistro on Main so the reason we were not aware of portion sizes. But the burgers were very good. We will probably dine again and try something new.Parking: Get to the restaurant early, the parking lot is small and fills up fast and is difficult also to leave out of“
“Overall good experience. Parking is across the street. restaurant seemed OK. I did not try the food but it looked appetizing, and the bar was efficient and decently priced. Location is good and with in walking distance to multiple restaurants. I would stay there again no problem, if the need aroused.“
“Great food, good people, and a fun atmosphere. This neighborhood staple is perfect for hanging out with some friends, grabbing a bite to eat, or catching the game. They always welcome you with a smile. The renovation looks great and has added more space and amenities.“
“I tried this place for the first time today. I was with a coworker who frequents here. He was acting like a pro to me with this place telling all about this and that...well, I finally got to the bottom of it. Yeah, he's been there a lot and can tell me how amazing the mac and cheese is....bc that's all he's ever ordered lol.Well, I ordered the buffalo wrap. I added tofu and subbed kalamata olives in place of tomatoes. This was a very fresh, simple and tasty meal. I am not from the area but am absolutely looking forward to the next time I am in. Grazers each day would even help me another way. I stop daily for a kombucha. They have that here, too. Everyone was friendly, and they came out and made sure our food was good while we were eating, which surprised me. The restaurant was very clean as well.Vegetarian options: When I say everything is vegetarian, it is not. But it basically is and you can add various proteins. Great spot, wish there were more like it.“
“Both the food and service were top notch! Nothing could have been better!Dietary restrictions: I also have a long list of dietary restrictions I was able to accommodate with their menu (dairy, gluten, nightshades, Cruciferous veggies, beans, onions mushrooms...)Wheelchair accessibility: Easy in, easy out, although their doorway/foyer could use more open space for wheelchairs.“
“This is the best bar in Kent. It is not fancy so don't think you're walking into an upscale restaurant and don't go late because that's when all the students come out. However, if you want good bar food, a great selection of drinks, and a nice bar to sit at and chat with the bartenders or watch sports, this is the place. Live music on Friday night and game nights other days, what more could you want? It's also a great people watching spot. Hope you enjoy it like we do.“
“Not much to say. Typical Rockney's. Food was delicious service was fast. My wife and her aunt said the lemonade tasted watered down was the only complaint we had. We were a group of 7 and we were seated with a group of ten. It was a little "busy" with everyone talking but not horrible and not Rockney's fault. Will down there again for sure.Kid-friendliness: One highchair can be clamped onto the tables but only the tables bolted to the floor. The regular highchair can't set on an isle end of a table. Little difficult to make that work depending on where your seating.“
“Always super food! Portions are unbelievable and flavor is always good. I loved the fried shrimp. Also tried a bite of the lamb chops, prime rib, surf and turf and the lobster for my family’s plates and everything was delicious. Their lobster is better than anywhere else in my opinion. Simple with butter because the actual flavor of the lobster is so good it doesn’t need a lot of added seasoning. The only thing I did not care for was the sausage but that is because I am not a fan of spicy and it had a little spice to it. The decor is not fancy which is okay with me. I would prefer good quality of food over mediocre food because paying for a fancy atmosphere. Waitress was attentive and answered questions and accommodated my family’s crazy requests and preferences. If you like great food and leftovers the next day this is the place to go in Kent, Akron, Canton or Youngstown. Just make sure to check the hours or call to make sure they are open because hours have been shortened, the waitress said since COVID hard to find staff. Also no credit cards, only cash or check- always been that way for as long as I can remember. I am sure this is to help keep prices down due to all the CC fees. They do have an ATM there but you may have to pay a fee. I always just pick up some cash in the way. IT IS WORTH IT!“
“Had dinner there last night with a group of friends. First time being there since it was redesigned in 2022. The views are awesome and it was reasonable quiet for us to carry on our conversations. We ordered multiple items from the menu from appetizers, main courses, and desert. All were absolutely fantastic!! Food was prepared and served very well. Our server was spot on the whole night. She was engaging and very attentive, something we don’t see a lot of any more. I should have remembered her name, but unfortunately it escapes me. This is definitely a place to visit with a menu that will please most. My only concern is that it is, if not already, a place that many will come to enjoy!! It was thirty degrees out and we came early. The place was hopping when we left. None the less, it is now one of our regular night out spots. Reservations are a good idea. When summer or warm weather arrives it will be tough to get a seat inside or out! Go early and Enjoy!!“
“I have never set foot in here, only ordered out. My go-to, wife-is-outta-town bachelor chow. Cheesesteak ingredients on a bed of French fries? Hell yes. Better than it should be, better than it looks. Easily could make 2 meals out of it, if not more. I like this place a lot.“
“We had Bourbon Street Steak and Chicken Caesar Salad. The food was delicious and Christina was an excellent server. We were there at 2pm for a late lunch and we had a good lunch. Although we did discuss that the Bourbon Street Steak meal has gotten smaller over many years.“
“Want certain at first from the outside but had heard good things about it and thought I'd give it a try. Was traveling back to the Austintown area so we stopped and glad we did. Very unique place with a twist so to speak lol. Very friendly fast service, and so many things to choose from we couldn't decide! Would recommend it to anyone! Thanks again!“
