“I had no idea this place existed and I’m so glad I found it! Often Indian restaurants aren’t open all day so that is a big plus for me. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. I will definitely support this local ”
“We attended the premium tequila tasting and had a wonderful time. We were able to taste seven tequilas, four of which are only available in Mexico (and possibly other U.S. states). These were fantastic tequilas. Afterward, we enjoyed a great dinner with our friends. The menu at Battleground changes and offers truly authentic Mexican fare that tastes just amazing. Can't wait to go back!”
“Post-meal update:While the whole wait time and indications by the hostess that the wait would be 20 minutes was terrible, I waited and was seated at a table.Overall the experience was not bad. The service from the wait staff was good and quick and the kitchen staff was fast as well. I had ordered the bacon appetizer and it came out on a great looking butcher block wood tablet. I ordered the Steak and eggs as en entree and the steak was medium rare like I wanted with good temperature. I'm not a fan of the potato pancake but it does bring a good flavor to the dish.Overall, pretty good.----I'm sure this would be a great restaurant to enjoy based on all the other ratings, but after driving 20 minutes to get there and two hours of waiting, that was not the case. I still have not been seated at the time of this review. It was interesting standing there at the one hour mark as a party of four entered. I watched as the hostess nonchalantly told these people it would be 20 minutes despite my waiting an hour. Alongside me was a party of four, who had also been waiting an hour. The other party of four told the new party of four it would be at least an hour wait. The wait staff told me twice that the wait time was 20 minutes. It would have been nice to know in advance that it wasn't worth sitting in my car. Also, they don't do reservations.I don't think I'll give this restaurant another try.”
“Love these little deli joints. I heard about this one on the radio because they had named a sandwich after one of the professors at Akron. All the sandwiches have cool local names. The place is hopping at lunch time, so consider coming early or maybe you can order ahead online.”
“I've been a frequent customer of Mike's Place Restaurant. We have also used their excellent catering service for some personal events. The staff here is very friendly and attentive, this includes managers, servers, greeters and bartenders. The menu prices seem average but when you see the selection and large portions the prices are extremely good. The food quality has always been very good, the very few times we had any concerns they were addressed immediately.Mike and his staff go above and beyond to take care of their customers and support our community and our veterans.Mike's Place has quietly made donations to multiple community organizations and has been the main sponsor for the Freedom Hunters Golf Outing. This outing has generated thousands of dollars for our military veterans. Freedom Hunters is a nonprofit Veterans Organization.Keep up the good work Mike”
“I’ve been buying my brewing supplies here for almost as long as they’ve been open. John is the consummate owner - passionate and knowledgeable about the hobby, incredibly friendly and outgoing, and always willing to discuss recipes, methods, etc. Add in a large and varied inventory and you have a truly special place.”
“Gina is the best! I work at a local wedding venue and she is the most reliable vendor to our clients, and her cakes are as delicious as they are stunning!! She recently provided my cousin's engagement party with a beautiful vintage heart-shaped cake and it was perfect (wish I got more photos). She's professional, friendly to work with and so talented.”
“Tremendous restaurant owned and operated by kind, caring, talented, and respected folks.Lucky enough to be invited to the soft opening and will continue to frequent this establishment. Akron is a better place with Square Scullery in business.”
“The owner sahoor I’m sorry if I’m misspelling it. Is one hell of a guy he went above and beyond for me I respect that man so much for a family business I’ll always stop by !!! He went to my hookah bar and dropped off my food because I couldn’t door dash I had lost my debit card but like I said Amazing guy man this spot will always have me as a customer !!!! Oh yeah the food !!! Was amazing !!!! Perfectly made and perfect temperature. Thank you all and god bless !!!!”
“Phenomenal coffee. Generous portions. Decent prices. Service is great. I was having trouble with internet connectivity on my laptop and I mentioned it. They took five minutes to go reset the router, bring their systems down and boot back up just so I could have internet. Humbling to me but very thankful! Above and beyond.”
“Oh my goodness! I finally got the chance to check this place out, and it's so amazing. As soon as you walk in, you're hit with sweet smells and cute, cozy decor. It's instantly comforting.I went here with my boyfriend, and I had the passion fruit mojito. It was sooo good and refreshing! I also tried a sip of his order, which was the oreo brulee black tea, and it was also really good. We shared a mango crepe cake, which was nice and light, super flavorful, and something I hadn't tried before. Their cups are sturdier and much higher quality than the usual plastic cups you get for drinks; you could probably even reuse them if you wanted to. They're also shakeable for drinks with syrup that needs to be mixed in.They have a huge variety on their menu with unique and exciting flavors. Tons of stuff to try! They also have yakult, and the fruit mojito menu items are sodas, which I've never seen before at a place like this locally. It's honestly super exciting to see a place close-by that has stuff like this; a while ago, the closest boba tea shop to my house was a chain in Kent (30 mins away!!)Location-wise, it's sandwiched between a Planet Fitness and a Cleveland Clinic. So it's perfect for an after-workout refreshment, and it's also perfect if you're (non-contagiously) ill and you need a treat. It's also a great local alternative to Starbucks, with similar pricing, location, and honestly better drinks/pastries and environment. If they ever expand their scope, I'd love to see breakfast or healthy snacks here. :^)Overall, it's a new favorite and a great date spot! Although, if you have fidgety kids, don't let them find out that some of the tables spin... ?Update: Since writing this review, I've also tried their matcha crepe cake and chocolate crepe cake! The matcha is absolutely stellar; if you love matcha and find yourself disappointed whenever matcha flavoring is too weak, you'll love this. Chocolate wasn't really my preference because it wasn't a very rich chocolate flavor, though it is a lighter pastry, so I didn't expect it to be super rich in the first place. I also recently tried the colorful passion fruit lime tea, and that thing is an absolute beast of a drink. I have never had a better drink in my life. It tastes so, so good and flavorful, and half of the cup is filled with fresh fruit to the point where you could eat it with a spoon. It is fantastic.I'll continue to slowly add to this review as I try new items! :DKid-friendliness: It's a cute, welcoming environment that kids would enjoy. It's also good for a treat for kids. But be warned, some of the tables spin.”
“OMG. The food was awesome. Great date night spot. The food takes a few to get to you, but u can't rush perfection!Everything was excellent. Will definitely return, and do recommend!”
“My first time here and I love it! Food is delicious! Taro boba drink also delicious! Service was great! Nice young man! I left quite a mess behind, I’m sorry! But the food, service and atmosphere is amazing! I will definitely be back! Don’t have to go to Cleveland anymore. I’m so glad you guys are here!”
“Typical visit for me: walk in, sit at an open booth, check the current (and ever-changing) menu, order a selection that I may not have ever tried before, get on the phone to Lucci's Place next door and order a pizza, walk next door to pick it up, order another selection, enjoy myself. The guys and girls that work there are great--very service-oriented and very knowledgeable. They have been working on a renovation for a few months and it's all very secret! So...changes are coming!I recommend this pub.”
“My favorite place to eat. I lived in Texas for many years. Good Mexican food is hard to find. Pico is spot on, and that’s hard to do. Omar and his wife care about the food and it shows. You know when the owner is the Chef that good things will come.”
“Amazing food. Gluten free friendly and very nice staff.Vegetarian options: good salads good rice curry and othersDietary restrictions: can accomodate gluten free and some items are gluten free like summer rolls but not the peanut sauce”
“This establishment is really a diamond in the rough, if you’re looking to experience good whiskey from the far reaches of the map while you are in north east Ohio, then look no further than South Point Tavern in Green city off of route 241 between Massillon and Akron. The bartenders will ensure you have a wonderful and informative experience. Great atmosphere and outstanding vibe.Dietary restrictions: The bartenders are very much so willing to work with you on preferences.Parking: Prime.Wheelchair accessibility: The parking lot leads right up to the business with no steps to negotiate.”
“Double Dark Raspberry is my favorite! Cute little ice cream stand and always busy - it's a local favorite. Staff - mostly young people - could be a little friendlier and accommodating.”
“This is the spot. This is where Cheers in Akron would be filmed. The servers/tenders all love each other and love the customers. All the regulars are welcoming and loving to other less-frequent visitors. There’s plenty of decoration demonstrating this bar’s love for the community; there’s enough TVs for 3 sports games in 1 night; there’s touchtunes and immensely underrated food. The wings are a great bet. The burgers are top-notch. Personally, I like the hot Italian sausage balls. Fried sausage filled with cheese??? Come on. A+. Also, prices are still really fair. They’ve worked hard to try to keep this place afloat despite inflation. Call me a lifelong visitor.”
“I have wanted to stop and eat here for at least 25 years and never did until today. It looks exactly how I imagined it looked 35 years ago, which is perfect. Classic diner with great wait staff and quick wait times. Came for lunch on a Friday and got right in around noon. Had the bacon cheeseburger and it was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. My friends fish sandwich was good too. Will be back again!”
“The cookies are definitely sized to share and some flavors better than others , however the service is always on point . You can order quickly yourself at the kiosk and check out is fast and easy . Even if there's a line it moves quick. The staff always seems nice and it's clean in the store .”
“Can't say enough good things about this place. Everything's fresh and house made. Falafel made to order. I like to order extra and grab a to go hummus, tabbouleh and bread for lunch all week long. Great family. Support local!”
“Stopped here a few times. Food is delicious and hands down the best BBQ in Ohio! Love it all: brisket, chicken, meatloaf, burgers, turkey…yum! Sides and banana pudding are amazing too! Owner and staff are top-notch, quick, and super friendly. Can’t wait to go back!”
“This has got to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in Akron. Not a big fancy place. Doesn't need to be. I feel that big and fancy would ruin the authenticity. The food is amazing.”
“Great turkish gyros. They are more cumin heavy than Greek gyros, but use real meat. The hummus was good and they might have had the best falafel I've ever had. Great crispness and didn't absorb oil or have that bitterness more st do.”
“Visiting from out of town, and finally stopped to try this restaurant the quesadillas are the best I’ve ever had, I can’t believe they are low carb! I don’t know how they make the tortillas so crispy . Will be back.”
“A great dive bar with really good food!! Prices are very reasonable too!!The bar is built over a small creek which runs through it sand run metro Park, which adds to the cool atmosphere. try the deep fried cheese curds!!!”
“Great lunch spot!!!! Absolutely delicious. I got their Mediterranean salad and added cucumber. And then their house chips and dip. OMG. SO DELICIOUS!!! Salad was fresh. The dressing was homemade. And the flavors were on point. Chips are crazy good and don't even get me started with the dip! Literally addictive. Thank you for a delicious lunch!”
“My husband and I have been here twice. The food was great both times. The second time we went, they were out of several menu items that we ordered, but I think the owner is doing a lot of the work herself, so I wasn't upset. She's doing a great job! My husband loved the bac'n on the burger.”
“I have been buying their bread from a store in Union Town, Oh. for the last 2 yrs or so, and this summer particularly, I noticed their bread is smaller than it use to be!! I’m still paying the same price yet getting smaller loaves…. I buy between 5-6 loaves at one time and freeze them to use as I need! However they are noticeably smaller loaves and not sure I will continue to buy them!”
