Downtown needed a good gumbo place, so I'm glad Chef Johnson brought his food to OKC. I've had the sausage and chicken gumbo and the red beans and rice. It's all fantastic and packed with flavor. The gumbo is the perfect texture; it's not too thick or too soupy. The beignets are the delicious little pillows of heaven we all need every day to make us love other humans again. One of my top places for delicious Cajun food. Got there about three, it wasn't crowded. The service here is outstanding. It has an awesome feel to it. Food is similar to a cafe in Indianapolis I loved.
If you're in downtown OKC on a chilly day, you absolutely must stop into Magnolia Bistro for some soul-warming comfort food! The owners are so friendly and the space is small, but very clean!! I ordered a cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo for a light lunch. I appreciate that they use chicken sausage instead of pork sausage!! The gumbo was delicious! Full of flavor and warm spices.
