“Wow ! This place is worth driving from anywhere in Ottawa to visit. I wish I could give the service 6 out of 5 stars because our server was just so helpful, patient and friendly. As a non-indian person I am often overwhelmed and confused by the menu at indian restaurants but our server explained everything so well and helped us all pick dishes that were unbelievably delicious. I was so excited to eat my leftovers the next day for lunch. We will be back! Thank you so much to everyone at Sona.“
“My friends recommended Ceylonta, a Sri Lankan Halal restaurant, so we decided to try it out. We ordered the Roast Beef, which was the chef's favorite, Masala Dosa, and the Vegetarian Thali. To our delight, we were offered 2 complimentary Chai, which made our evening even better! The restaurant had a fantastic welcoming atmosphere, and the waiters were very helpful. The service was top-notch, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We recommend giving Ceylonta a try and we definitely plan on visiting again in the future.“
“In a word, this place is spectacular!!! The chai is perfectly prepared, and the sandwiches are some of the tastiest I have ever had, anywhere. *Anywhere*. Not only that, the portions are substantial, the prices reasonable, and the staff is lovely. Great food, great prices, great service. The trifecta, and that is increasingly hard to find in Ottawa. Run, don't walk, and enjoy a great meal here. My new favourite place to eat in Ottawa.“
“Our dining experience at this restaurant was extraordinary, from the pleasant atmosphere to the wide selection of scrumptious menu items. Although there was a minor confusion with our order, the staff handled it with exceptional care and efficiency, quickly rectifying the issue. The food, with its impeccable flavors and presentation, truly made our evening memorable. This slight mix-up was easily forgiven, overshadowed by the superb dining experience we enjoyed, promising our return in the near future.“
“The food truck has transitioned into a restaurant now. I really love their Paneer Ghotala Kulcha and Channa Kulcha. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are affordable for everyone, while maintaining high quality and delicious taste. Must try food places in Ottawa.Vegetarian options: It is pure vegetarian restaurantParking: Open parking lot“
“We went to try the rolled ice cream. Other items on the menu were not explained and the photos did not really help. If you're not familiar with these desserts which appear either Middle Eastern or South Asian, make sure you bring your food so you can google the dishes. Out server was unable to explain any of it to us in English. The ice cream was quite good, and watching him make it on the cold slab was entertaining. One cup of rolled used cream was about $9.“
“It was our first time trying this place. We usually go to a more fast food type Afghani restaurant. The food was delicious and large portion, we did get a family meal. More pricier than average but I guess that’s how it is with all restaurants now. Clean and food is fresh. Only complaint I would say is the mantu is only 6 pieces and they’re smaller compared to other restaurants.“
“Order Chhole Bhature and Cauliflower Kulcha with Masala tea. Good taste. Restaurant wasn’t busy and service was fast. Kulcha was probably baked in tandoor and then pan roasted so tou may ask them if you only need tandoor made. Chana was tasting good“
“Our visit to Madhuban for our first taste of Indian cuisine in Canada was unforgettable. The food was exceptional, and we couldn't resist ordering extra dishes to take home. Friendly staff, a clean setting, and a welcoming atmosphere made it all the more special. We're already planning our return to try more dishes.“
“They are the sweetest and most genuine people. I was there with my friend who is vegetarian. She said their food was amazing. I just got a naan for a snack and it was light and delicious.I left my purse behind and we're not from Ottawa. We realized when we got to our car. They had it behind the counter and looked so concerned. Salt of the earth people honestly. Go here“
“The food was delicious especially dosa.various food options like idly , vada with delicious sambar. The price was affordable. I visited dosa and curry with my friends many times... Every visits reminds my home food. Cup of madras Chai was perfect.“
“The food here is incredible. The butter chicken and Momos especially! Service is prompt and done with a smile. Price is good as well for a date night or serving a large group. Seems like they get a lot of take out orders too, which is a good sign. The atmosphere inside could be more personalized. The music is a bit loud and it was just recently acquired from an old Irish pub, and the dining area still feels like that without a renovation or more decor.“
“I highly recommend clay oven because they make very delicious food. couple of my favorite dishes are: butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and more! I love how it's a family owned restuarant. The staff there is very friendly and they treat you like family, which I love.“
“We went with family who were visiting from out of town. My husband and I had the non-veg dinner for 2 complete with soup, naan, rice, 4 dishes and dessert it was beyond delicious. Everything our table ordered was of perfect quality and tasted great. Their wine and beer prices were good too. We will be back again!Vegetarian options: Lots to choose from!Parking: Limited spaces but parking on street free on weekends“
“Second time in this restaurant. All the food was delicious and the portion sizes are good. Lots of options, including vegan and vegetarian options. Service was friendly and attentive. It's great to be able to request different levels of spice for different dishes.“
“They are awesome and serve great food. 10/10 for everything they were quite busy but they handled everything perfectly and hats off to the food quality everything was fresh and perfectRecommend everyone who loves Indian street food WE DESI should be your go to place“
“We came here for lunch and were very impressed. The buffet had a large selection of curries, soups, vegetables and fruits, sauces, desserts. It was $25 plus tax for all you can eat which I think is a great value. Mango lassi was also tastyA new favorite lunch restaurant to go to!Vegetarian options: There were some vegetarian dishes.“
“Ordered pani puri the other day and was very disappointed that there was’t any potato or chickpeas in the pani puri and the shells were broken so we couldn’t eat it.I’m giving 4 stars because the samosa chaat and ice vanilla chai were amazing.“
“Such a great owner! He really cares and serves quality food! This is my go to place every timeI am in the mood of some amazing Bangladeshi food. I am a Bangladeshi myself and I can guarantee the food he serves is the closest to home! The next best alternative to home cooked food.Impressive and friendly!“
“My wife and I did date night here a little while back, the food was beautiful and rich with flavours. The total time was about 1 1/2 hrs but went by fast as the staff was great and the Chefs were wonderful in explaining what inspired them to create their dish. I’m sure we will be visiting this place again in the near future!“

“Every item we ordered out of the menu was amazing. The best were the chefs special spring rolls and butter naan. The order was ready at the given time. The owners are very friendly and the service is great. Best north Indian food so far in Ottawa. 100% will recommend“
“We ordered the lamb curry in a hurry and chicken tikka. We absolutely fell in love. For such an unassuming place, the food was exceptional. We wouldn’t even have come across this place if we didn’t get inside the Byward market building to explore. Will definitely come back for more!“
“Food is simply phenomenal - that pretty much sums it up. Everything was delicious. We happened upon this restaurant and couldn't be happier. We had the buffet and the only issue was that food was getting over and staff was having a hard time refilling. A must try in my opinion.“
“We needed samosas for a special event and decided to give this place a shot. Everyone loved them! First thing I noticed when walking in was how clean and organized the space was, and all the items on display looked fresh and high quality. ?“
“We stumbled upon this place on our visit to Ottawa. We loved the food and the service. The taste was truly authentic and not the extra spicy food many Indian restaurants serve.Yes, the highlight was that the food don’t have too much spice or masala. We could taste the flavour without burning our tongue. We orderedMasala dosa 10/10Idli- 10/10Vada-10/10Tomato uttapam -10/10Shrimp fry-10/10Chilli chicken-8/10Shrimp fried rice 7/10Rava dosa 7/10Chicken salad 10/10Masala tea 10/10“
“Currently my favourite food spot in town! A creative and very affordable mix of Italian, Indian and more - the food surpasses your expectations every time. I have been going up to multiple times per week and never get bored of the dishes. Beyond the consistent high quality, the owner Ruhul is a fantastic guy. Love supporting this small and special business.“
“Dietary restrictions: Always consistently great. We've liked basically everything we ordered from here, and it's been at least 10 times. My husband has celiac disease and the gluten free dishes are clearly marked on the menu. He's never had an issue with contamination with gluten.Highly recommend the fish chettinad, lamb kadai and mango vegetable curry.“
“Wow, we have always enjoyed Mia's wonderful and delicious Indian food, and we had take out last week; they haven't skipped a beat! This is in my opinion, hands down, the best Indian food in Ottawa! Every dish was delicious and left us wanting more!!! A must try for Indian Food enthusiasts ; )“
“This restaurant is calm. The ambiance is relaxing. Not too much people can sit at the sane time. Music is not loud. Lights are dimmed. i'm autistic and don't like my food touching. They accomodated me no questions asked. the employees are super kind and polite. the food is delicious. my second time here and will come back.“
“Wow!Thali beats the best of the best in the UK and Toronto. The lamb was delicious, we shared a few starters and a delightfully spiced Kerala curry. we didn’t have the platter that everyone else seemed to be having and I got serious FOMO. Top notch staff and just the right relaxed/sophisticated setting to make me feel pampered and ‘worth it’.We tried the Cool India beer too - loved it!Thanks Thali and Ottawa…we will be back ❤️“
“Your food is amazing. One of my all time favourite in Ottawa. I recently noticed you are serving hot curries in plastic containers for takeout. Can you please, switch it to a container that can take heat? We can all enjoy the food without worrying about health concerns. Thank you so much!!!“
“The food was delicious! Unfortunately, I ordered a little too spicey for myself to fully enjoy the meal, but what I had was absolutely amazing! I wish I could've taken the leftovers, but I couldn't since I was staying in a hotel.Staff were very kind and respectful, and polite!“
“This is my all time favourite Indian restaurant in Ottawa and I am sad that there is no longer take out but I guess I will have to have a get together soon because I love their food so much!!! So many great vegan options and South African and Tanzanian dishes!!!“
“Solid flavors and an amazing atmosphere. This restaurant takes a nice home cooled Indian cozy feel. The flavors are amazing and the butter chicken was one of the best I've had since living in Tanzania.Portions are decent but not huge and the side dishes are far too small to have a 1 for 1 dish. All in all a nice small restaurant that would be perfect for a date night.“
“The food is amazing. We hve tried different food items and all were mouth watering n they also customize as per ur taste. The service is amazing , all the attendants are super friendly take good care of their customers. Thanku Narendra , Bhaumik n Maunik for your amazing service always.“
“Great food, great people! It's always a treat when I get take out from East India Company.Apart from being the best Indian food in Ottawa, the order is always accurate when it arrives. It's the first place I've ordered from that didn't make a mistake. I also appreciate the attention to detail and thought that go into everything, like the sturdy paper bag your order arrives in.I highly recommend one of their cooking classes, going to be making one of the dishes I got the recipe for later this week!“
“Very impressive food, it was absolutely beautiful you can tell that the chefs and owners have worked hard to make good tasty quality food. Service was great and we ordered food over the phone was ready to collect. Will definitely be back soon“
“I went to Rangde today to have breakfast as I was craving for puri masala. When I reached there, I came to know they started doing breakfast buffet on weekends. I have never had such an amazing breakfast in a while. Starting from Pongal, Upma, idli, vada, sambar, variety of chutneys to your choice of dosa/uttapam/puri to chai/coffee to dessert. It was a feast. Hari was our server. Such an amazing service and experience.Definitely worth a try. 10/10 on food and service.“
