Our first time in. Had the Bao and Veggie Tacos. Both had really great flavors and presentation. Sat at the bar and tried several of the creative cocktails. All were good and very non-traditional. It seems the owner really tries to be creative with just about everything. Sat at the bar as they was the only place left. No hostess. Another patron said we just needed to head upstairs. I’d come back if they added more vegetarian options as it seems they have their flavors down :)

Speechless. I came here on “their busiest night, ever” and couldn’t have been more impressed. Absolutely incredible food, dialed service, fearless kitchen. Genuinely a masterpiece, in my opinion. Drinks, food, atmosphere- all are incredible. So happy to have eaten here.

Fantastic and creative cocktails! Food was delicious. Our bartender and waiter were great, but there was no one to greet us at the door, and we just stood around waiting to be acknowledged. It was very cold and drafty inside. Eventually a passing waiter said someone would seat us soon.We would definitely go again, and know what to expect next time. Cool atmosphere.

The food was terrific. The staff was top-notch. We sat at the bar and let Izzy order for us. He knocked it out of the park! Thank you for a great evening, Akira.

What a great meal and delicious cocktails in a cozy atmosphere. We loved the steam bun tacos; we tried the fried chicken, fresh crab and the grilled shrimp. Everything we sampled was amazing. The is a special spot in Eugene.

Really cool local spot with SLAMMIN desserts and probably the best cocktail menu in Oregon. They seem to run out of stuff pretty often, but try the dessert mochi it absolutely slaps. Also shoutout to Thor who is the archetype of an ideal bartender.

This is a non-traditional Japanese restaurant. But let’s start with the positive. Mostly friendly and attentive stuff and beautiful food presentation. Don’t go by yourself or you will be sitting at the bar which isn’t great if you aren’t there for the drinks. The bartender will be disappointed and you can tell. This brings me to my next complaint, they don’t any soft drinks only cocktails and water. They will offer you non- alcoholic cocktails though. Not such an inconvenience in the end. What really disappointed me was the preparation of the salmon sashimi. Normally salmon sashimi should be buttery, nicely cut, dissolving in your mouth when you’re eating it. The salmon I got was randomly cut, you can see they struggled to separate it from the skin, very gummy. The taste and texture wasn’t good, it wasn’t sashimi quality. I guess I had very high expectations because of all the good reviews. This was more like Americanized Japanese food. I got the chirashi bowl, don’t get that. Maybe other options are better and I just got the one bad dish in the menu.

I was pretty disappointed overall. Disappointed having read countless 5 star reviews and finding nothing notably remarkable about Akira. We spent 60 dollars on unremarkable sushi with incredibly tiny portions and had to go to another restaurant afterward so we would not go to bed hungry. I'm no stranger to paying for high ticket restaurants but usually you get more than a bite of food to enjoy. Last note the sashimi was top quality, but I just expected more variety.

Went to Akira for the kiddos birthday dinner. Amazing atmosphere and staff. Love the deco and the super hero/ skateboard vibe. Very cute house made into a comfortable and chill, but classy restaurant. Low-key lighting , upstairs and downstairs dining. Nice menu and yummy sushi medium range price should I say great service always a plus when you go out makes a difference.Vegetarian options: I love sushi and tofu so I feel this is a great option to have. They also have noodles, rice and fish choices.

Perhaps I'm not an esthete. Perhaps I am spoiled by the European quality of food and service, but it seemed to me that the food was not tasty, very simple and very expensive. We ordered three dishes, only one was tasty - steamed buns with crab. But the price is too high for 2 buns - $17. I'm unlikely to come back

Best restaurant in Eugene, bar none.Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian options are available. A restaurant is quality when vegetarian options aren’t treated like an afterthought. Akira does very well here.Parking: I’ve never had issues finding parking here. If the lot is full, there’s plenty of street parking around.

This is the best sushi place, and probably the best restaurant in Eugene. Everything... food, drinks, ambiance... is perfection, and they have lots of GF options.Dietary restrictions: They have and use tamari in the kitchen...extremely celiac friendly!
