The only thing wrong with Newman's Grotto is the indoor seating shortage for cold and rainy winter days. There is ample outdoor seating for when it's nicer. The food is excellent! The service was great! If this isn't your go to fish and chips spot, you're doing it wrong.

Service is very quick, especially if you order online for pick up. My favorite is the halibut and fries basket and it is a very, very generous portion of halibut. Perfectly cooked. I usually feel like I don’t need to eat anything for the rest of the day when I have lunch there because the portions are that generous. Fish is extremely fresh and top quality. I also love their salmon basket. And again three generous pieces of fish and a BIG pile of thick cut fries. You definitely get your money’s worth and as far as I’m concerned along with the fish they have the best tasting fries in town! Everybody’s polite and friendly who works there. Very accommodating and genial. 5 stars for cleanliness, too.Not that it’s important because I usually do takeout, but the seating is limited inside… So in the winter time when it’s raining or snowing it’s a bit crowded. When the weather is nice they have excellent covered seating outside as well which is really pleasant and fun with all the big shade trees around. The cramped seating inside is the ONLY reason I didn’t give it five stars for “Atmosphere” but that’s not because I’m mad about it or anything it just is what it is: A super excellent little hole in the wall Seafood place.So yeah, if you’re craving some fish and chips, this place is DEFINITELY worth every penny you spend. I wish everybody at Newmans a joyous and prosperous new year in 2024!?? Keep up the good work, guys! Loved the grilled salmon and rice. My companion had halibut and chips. Both meals were tasty and well cooked. Great value for $ spent.The restroom was not very clean. There is not a lot of inside seating. We had to go outside and bring in chairs. There was only one at our table for two.
