We loved basil and board and for the last 2 years I have my birthday dinner there. But very disappointed with what we got last night. We put in an order to go around 8:20 PM, We got a BBQ bird which hardly had any base sauce and toppings on it. It was so dry and flavorless, it was almost as if we were eating plain crust. We also wanted to try their 1948, to which the lady forced us to buy 2 of those since it came prepackaged. I understand it was almost closing time so they didn’t want anything to go to waste but as a customer that shouldn’t be put on us. Overall it sure wasn’t our moneys worth.

My wife and I went for our 7 year anniversary. Big day especially because of covid, the little things are so important. It took 37 mins to get our appetizer (which was cold). Then right after was the entree. When I asked the waitress (she was nice and apologetic)what's the eta on the appetizer she said it's taking longer because of online to go orders. If that was the case then that's a terrible way to run a establishment. If you have guest's sitting in the restaurant wanting to fund and support you, then focus on them. Online orders have a long estimate time. Then when I asked the waitress to make everything to go rather than sit and wait another 20 mins she said one of the cooks walked out causing a back up. A very easy way the manager or owner can avoid this problem is by cross training all employees. Have them shadow the cooks and waitresses/host's literally every position. That way if this were to happen again the manager can make their rounds to tables and tell them what is going on, rather than hearing multiple excuses on why others got their food before you. Even though you were there before 3 other tables. I'm hoping to give this place another try but honestly cross train everyone and both parties would have been happy.

Making a reservation? Beware. They don't honor them. I made a reservation in their online system last week for a birthday party on the roof. Today, 3 days before the party, I get an unidentified text saying my party is being moved inside, as a larger party is taking over the roof seating. We wanted outside to meet with our grown children, in an outdoor venue, because of coronavirus risk to us. Really poor management!

On July 2nd, I went into Basil and Board to pick up a family dinner that I ordered. I was informed that they didn't have an order for me. That my order was for the following week. I said that it didn't make sense. Why would I pay for a dinner that I didn't know what it was going to be? There was no explanation or apology. I followed up with an email and phone call to have my order cancelled. I was upset with my experience there and I didn't like what they were serving the following week. I thought that was the end if it, but I was wrong. They still put my payment of $60 through and won't refund it. This is no way to do business and I want a refund.

We ate here again today and had another fantastic meal; my wife had a Bruschetta/w/fig, brie, and proscutto; and small salad, both very tasty(the salads have some of the freshest ingredients anywhere). I had a pizza that was very delicious and different from the ones I get at Paddington's, Round Table,Pizza Hut or pizza we buy at the stores...mine had chicken, cilantro(I love esp in Salsa, too)red onion, a sweet sauce, and great crust...this is one ofthe best pizza's I've ever had and i eat pizza at least 2x a week(once had pizza for 30 days straight). Anyway, another thing I liked was the sparkling water in a carafe bottle. My wife had good coffee and the people are always very friendly and attentive to any needs we have.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. We ate (rooftop) last week and had one of the best pizzas we have eaten since our trip to Italy 3 years ago. It was authentic and cooked perfectly with amazing flavors. We had a party of 8 (not always easy) and they accommodated us beautifully. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. Great brew and cocktail selection as well.

Truly one of my favorite places for a good unique pizza or delicious sandwich. They have some great salad choices as well. We have never been disappointed eating here. They are a bit spendier but it is definitely worth it for the flavor, freshness and experience of truly delicious food. Customer service is always exceptional. Across the board they are an A+ for me. We ordered from them quite a bit during the pandemic which is how we discovered them and we still frequent them. One of my favorites here in Salem.

My in-laws live in Salem and we were trying to find a way to celebrate their birthday from California. We thought it would be nice to buy them dinner and havs it delivered as a surprise. They are total foodies, so it's a little nerve-wracking picking out a restaurant they will like. We settled on this cute little spot and made our order after explaining our plan. The staff was super accommodating and helpful and the in-laws loved it! We ordered them a Bought the Board pizza and an Oregonzola salad and all that was left was a single slice of pizza. We were thanked probably a million times after they ate their meal. Overall, this spot is amazing and earned us tons of brownie points. I can't wait to try this spot myself!

As they expect you to make a reservation, I called 5 times and no answer, texting options are only automated responses. There’s no actual person to person communication, which is ridiculous.Another ridiculous thing is that they don’t have any cocktails currently... rude. Overall the service was a bit eh, and they seemed too busy with their tasks to pay attention to my table.Food was decent, but if you’re a vegan vegetarian, you’ll have to heavily modify some of the options.

Delicious pizza and huge, fresh salad! The rooftop was closed when we went but can't wait to go back and enjoy more pizza when its open.

Yoooo this place overrated af if I wanted a pizza I should of taken my ass to mods pizza they really charge extra for meat when they still put half ass piece of meat on it anyways definitely ain't worth the price and they don't even got a choice to put jalapeño on your pizza , then they lied and said they weren't having people on the roof and was still sitting people up there

Picasso salad was delicious! Everyone in my group enjoyed their food, went for lunch and sat on rooftop. Service was perfect and I appreciated the server read back the order as some of us had special instructions. All came out as ordered and again it was very good. Lunch size portion was very filling and reasonable price.

Delicious! Have not been able to dine in yet as my girlfriend and I dropped in on a whim and ended up taking home three pizzas as we could simply not choose (?). As a side note, we are Vegetarian and Vegan so it is usually hard to find dietary options suitable to our liking... Not here! Looking forward to dining here again in a couple weeks.
