“One of Philadelphia's charms is its wealth of neighborhood bistros representing regional Italian cuisines. Core de Roma is such a restaurant. Arrive early, as we did, before the place begins to fill up, and you'll meet Luigi, a loquacious, bushy-eyebrowed native of Trastevere who exudes justified pride in his food and his restaurant.This quirky BYOB, perched in the prosperous hills of Bala Cynwood, greeted us with warm, freshly baked bread accompanied by a plate of olive oil, sage, and white beans for dipping. Many delights followed: abundant, freshly made fettucine alla Bolognese; creamy, al dente spaghetti caccio e pepe; a simple, voluptuous tiramisú. Not everything was perfect; such a good restaurant should offer a decent espresso. Still, the pleasures of a small family restaurant, aspiring albeit uneven, far outweigh its odd deficiencies. The left-over fettucine was even better the next day, reminding us to return soon. See you there.”

“Everything was outstanding. Our friends had the mussel/cannelloni bean appetizer and claimed it one of the most delicious dish ever! The flatbread, Sunday gravy, grilled seafood and black bass were amazingly good. Will be back soon!”

“The food here is phenomenal. We got the margarita pizza and a half veggie half plain and they were both incredible. I will say this place is pricy like very pricy. 2 pies and 5, 20fl oz sodas were over $68. But the pies were 10/10. I will be back.”

“Early dinner tonight. Service amazing starting with the welcoming valet that greeted us to our very attentive server. I had the salad and pasta special and when I say I wanted to do the entire meal again, I mean it! It was delicious!!! Ended with a banana pudding cream brûlée. I mean, come on! Sooo good! The last time they were here from Boston and NC, there were 10 of us, from 1 1/2 years old to 81 years young. We had a great time.Wheelchair accessibility: There are no steps, and most tables are large enough to accomodate a wheelchair.”

“Best kosher take out in town and so easy to work with! Jonathan and his team are so lovely and the food is delicious. We regularly pick up for Shabbat, ordered for thanksgiving and most recently had meals delivered for a corporate event. The food was tasty, fresh, wrapped well, and we didn’t feel like we were eating anything different than the others we were with. I highly recommend A La Karte for your needs!”

One is right on the side entrance where the deli is.”

I wanted to wait to complete a review to see if there was consistency with the food and service. This place gets a gold star. The food is very fresh and plentiful, enough for 2 meals. The service is fast as well. I love how they prepare the General Tso’s chicken. It’s moist yet crispy (not tough). The flavor of the sauce is excellent too, just the right amount of heat.I will make this place a staple.”
