Been coming to Syd's place since I was a little girl with my family. It was always my father's favorite places to eat prime rib. To this day they still cook a beautiful prime rib meal! Perfection!

My husband and I both ordered one of the scampi dishes; veggie for me and shrimp for him. While it looked delicious, it had no taste. It was very bland and needed garlic or something else. We usually love the food but this time not so much. We will definitely go back but order something else this time.

We are locals but have never been here. Wanted to try something new. This would not seem like a place where you would need a reservation. I guess you do. We got there early enough, so they were able to seat us. First impression, kind of dark with a slightly unpleasant odor (my first thought was urine) Appetizer (soft pretzels with cheese) was fantastic! I ordered the fisherman platter. My husband ordered the perch. Neither were impressive. And for the price!!! ? $90 after tip for a subpar dinner and no alcohol. I'll stick with our old faithfuls for half the price. The service was good, though.

We came to Syd's after our second day on a 5 day bicycle tour. We wanted to have a solid meal. Boy was it. The tossed salad was fresh and salad dressings are all home made and so delicious I wanted to dip my finger in the remaining dressing while waiting on my meatloaf I had the meatloaf Marsala which was rich and flavorful. The rice pilaf was also delicious...my buddy got Baked Cod and mashed potatoes... He said it was exquisite!

We arrived on a Saturday evening without reservations. Rookie mistake!The staff went out of their way to seat us in less than 5 minutes. The service was amazing, and the food was phenomenal. It is a great place that the locals obviously try to keep a secret.
We ordered walleye and french fries and the walleye had bones all the way through both fallets. Did not enjoy every bite having several bones in it. Fries were soggy. I didn't finish my plate and my wife sent hers back. Payed $83 for a not so great experience. The service wasn't terrible but they wouldn't budge on the total. Not going there again.

After a day of sightseeing we asked the captain of our tour for a restaurant recommendation. He steered us to Syd's place. The staff asked if we had a reservation. No problem it's busy but you can sit outside. That was fine with us. The hostess sitting us had a very cranky bad attitude. She said she had no time to be nice as some people expected to be waited on who didn't have reservations. It was rude and inappropriate. I shrugged it off. Our waitress was courteous and did her best. It took a very long time to get our food. It was delicious and portions were plentiful. Not sure I would rush back there in the future.
