“Went out with some work friends to this cool pub in downtown newport. I would recommend a reservation as this was a Wednesday night and the place was still packed. The staff were receptive and provided excellent service. I never found myself waiting for a fresh drink. The food was suprisingly delicious which is something i dont normally expect from a large and varied menu. The pricing is about normal for the area, so if tourist area prices are not for you it may not be the best option. I will be recommending Brick Alley to friends. And the only reason i will not give 5 stars is i try to reserve that rating for very special exceptions.“
“First time dining here food, service and atmosphere was great. Had the pan seared cod was both delicious and filling. Wife had the skirt stake with the were salad was equally delicious. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal.“
“Had the 2-course lunch special for $22 and everything was delicious. The lobster roll was served hot or cold, pictured is the hot roll with a nice garlic flavor on the bread. Steak in the sandwich was tender and not fatty and the fries are perfect. Service was timely, and serves was informative. Highly recommend trying them out.“
“No special occasion this time, just three friends making time for lunch and this was a prefect stormy day to see the sea and enjoy a bottle of bubbly and delicious cuisine. Our server was friendly and attentive and Brian came by to check on us and see how everything was--perfect as always!“
“Unique culinary experience. We got the wine tasting and non alcoholic tasting.. I’d recommend both. They enhanced the flavors and enriched the experience.Food was great and filling.Staff was kind and knowledgeable. We sat in a small quiet dining room, although the hotel was beautiful, we would have preferred the larger dining room.I would go back ?“
“Dear Steff and the team at Scratch Kitchen. Every single member of the team is pretty awesome and the food. Wow!I was introduced to Scratch Kitchen by Kevin at Innovate Newport as I needed to hire a catering vendor to support a conference. The entire process of working with Steff and Scratch was a partnership and nothing was too much to ask.On the day of the conference, the feedback from my delegates was overwhelmingly wonderful and everyone applauded the menu.Scratch Kitchen and Catering is a fantastic gem of Newport and I can’t wait to come back. PS: The Reubens Sandwich is off the scale ??“
“I was pleasantly surprised. Most places rob you when it comes to payment for portion size. Not newport lobster shack! I wanted to wait for a lobster roll until later in the season but the wife had other plans and we stumbled upon the shack. It was still cold to me so unfortunately we were not able to sit outside. The area was clean, staff was happy to be there, and food was good.Go there and stop reading my review.“
“Great local spot, but not the most welcoming to outsiders. Had to wait 20 minutes to get a reserved table, servers were best pals with every table around us. The food was inconsistent; some dishes were great, some were frankly sub par. A great wine selection.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly, at least for dinnerWheelchair accessibility: Not accessible.“
“The Red Parrot is our family's restaurant that we dine at every time we visit Newport. Whether being seated at a table with a great view or seated at the bar the friendly, professional service is still the same. Their food is excellent, with many selections to satisfy everyone's preferences. Also, a wonderful assortment of cocktails. Highly recommend if you are visiting Newport.“
“First trip to Newport and my girlfriend would not stop talking about how PJs probably has the best burger in RI...I've now committed to trying every burger I can in the state because I don't think anyone will beat the basic perfection that is their “
“It is very rare to find a restaurant where everything is exceptional! We were served by Kim. She is a gem! We totally felt at home in this beautiful restaurant. Our meals were huge and delicious. The place was packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying their Monday night out!“
“Much like the other reviews, I had a fantastic experience with Darwin. The mark of a good bartender is being able to make a great “bartenders choice” drink with your liquor/palate preference. Overall the drinks where great with the service to match. A go-to nightcap in Newport for sure.“
“Amazing find for breakfast! It seems like a small mom and pop restaurant, very limited seating. The service was some of the best I've had! The food was quick and very good. Even prices were way below what I would expect in a tourist area! Kind of disappointed in the Hunts not Heinz ketchup, but I'll live! This place is worth a stop for sure!“
“Sometimes you just need a good burger and bar - and Malt delivered! Cozy bar/restaurant with an awesome drink/cocktail/beer selection - and was pretty packed at 830 on a Saturday night. I had the Malt burger and it was great / cooked perfectly and tasty with bacon, pickled onion jam, mustard aioli, etc - the kitchen knows how to upgrade a burger! Draft Beer selection was impressive - I particularly loved this Pilsner from VT. Waiter was great - and they must make a mean espresso martini - as we saw a lot of them coming out from the bar! Menu is varied - and prob want to try the cod/risotto next time. Great experience and loved the ‘whole package’ at Malt!“
“Great experience for my group of 8. We enjoyed having a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar with a seamless transition to our round dining table (love round tables!) which worked so well for keeping the conversation flowing over a beautiful dinner.“
“Stopped in today on an overcast RI day while enjoying an instate vaca getaway for a few days. Opted to try their Beef Stew entree (for lunch-lol) since I felt the urge to warm up since the weather wasn't the best today. Definitely the right decision. Huge chunks of beef accompanied by fully cooked potatoes and massive carrots. Paired with 2 warm rolls filled my belly and prepped me for some more sidewalk trolling.“
“Parade day, half the staff quit and Courtney STILL took amazing care of us and made sure we had everything we needed regardless of the chaos. We come here every year during this chaotic day and it’s always a safe and comfortable space. 20/10. We love Courtney.“
“I've been here a few times and every time the burgers are spectacular! Definitely some of the best burgers I've had in the area. Service is always prompt and friendly, and the vibes inside are funky and cool. Definitely a don't miss spot on Broadway!“
“My family and I vacation in Newport, Rhode Island each year. We enjoy breakfasts together during our trips and so we have tried several restaurants in the past, including the Franklin Spa. During our our visit this past week we noticed that the menu was different and there was a different vibe to the location. My suspicions were correct as we met Nick and Brittany, the new proprietors!! The food was great, lots of options and at a fair price. We enjoyed our breakfast so much that we returned the following morning to enjoy our last breakfast before returning to Philadelphia. If you are in Newport and in search of a place for Breakfast, I highly recommend the Franklin Spa. We look forward to returning in the future.“
“Excellent service - scallop app was outstanding- clam chowder would have liked some more clams-we also had the haddock which was very well portioned with the clams, perfect cooking- duck was beautifully done, would pass in the parsnips - lack of seasonings- toffee cake delish and great sorbet.“
“Honestly for a tavern / pub. It's quite nice. They have a variety of food and drinks of all sorts and it's quite tasty. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Now remember this is a tavern / bar so don't expect a gastronomic experience. But if you're out and about with your partner and/of friends. Stop in for a beer and a snack. This is still New Port. So it's gonna go bad be cheap. But good enoughVegetarian options: Sprouts are fantastic“
“Had lunch with family. Ordered burgers as part of the Newport, RI Burger Bender. Burger was cooked perfectly and was on point. Jalapeño aioli was killer. Really enjoyed. Staff were very accommodating. My mother-in-law has difficulty with stairs. The staff happily directed us to park behind the hotel to avoid stairs. They had a parking attendant meet us and escort us to the restaurant. Very nice indeed. Lunch time was pretty quiet compared to the hustle and bussle of downtown Newport. Was nice and quiet. Very relaxing for us seniors wanting a quiet relaxing place to dine for lunch.“
“Food was amazing, service was excellent, atmosphere was adorable... so why 4 stars? After such a nice experience, having to figure out the bill for 6 individual diners really detracted from the experience. We passed the slip around, scribbled notes on scrap paper collected cards and cash and then the server was unable to figure it out. Our bill was over $300. Why, in this day and age, is this establishment unable to figure out how to give us separate checks is beyond me. We are a group of 10 ladies who formed 1 year ago and this is the first time we were told we could not get separate checks. It took 45 min for the manager to figure out our bill so we could pay. Clarke's Cooke House, you need to do better for your diners.Vegetarian options: The 2 vegetarian dishes were ordered were superb!“
“Was here for a wedding reception and the base is beautiful. The bar staff are friendly and the food was good. We had heavy appetizers and an open bar, so they can handle just about anything. There are some restrictions because of base access, but anyone who can get on the base can come to this bar. The view over to the bridge is beautiful. Enjoy!“
“Cute little place in downtown Newport. We haven't tried many things since we moved here because it's so overrun with tourists, but this place was surprisingly good.I had the beef brisket sandwich and loved it. It was almost $30, but still delicious. LolWe'll definitely give this place another try.“
“Welcome to the culinary rollercoaster that is Ney Hall Galley! Buckle up, folks, because this military dining hall is a unique experience worthy of a quirky 5-star review. First off, the daily ritual of being greeted with a cheerful "good morning" or "good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen" is a heartwarming touch. It's like entering a parallel universe where politeness reigns supreme. The atmosphere is so polite that I half-expected someone to offer me a bow tie with my salad tongs. Speaking of salad, Ney Hall Galley takes the concept of an all-you-can-eat salad bar to a whole new level. It's practically a salad wonderland! The meals are surprisingly affordable, turning each dining experience into a budget-friendly feast. Now, let's talk coffee. The mysterious decaffeinated vibe adds an air of intrigue. Is it decaf, or is it just playing hard to get? The coffee's secret identity remains shrouded in mystery, adding an element of suspense to each sip. Breakfast is the unsung hero here, consistently solid with the exception of those egg whites that occasionally flirt with a plastic taste. It's a minor hiccup in the grand symphony of Ney Hall Galley's culinary escapade. And let's not forget the culinary superstars--the clam chowder and double fudge chocolate cakes. These items deserve their own fan club. If there's a culinary Hall of Fame for military dining halls, Ney Hall clam chowder and chocolate cakes would be first-ballot inductees. Now, the 15-minute time limit for meals adds a dash of urgency to the dining experience. It's like a culinary sprint, and you better be ready to chow down at turbo speed. Blink, and you might miss the gastronomic adventure. But beyond the food, what truly makes Ney Hall Galley special is the journey. It's not just a dining experience; it's a daily escapade into the world of military politeness, decaf coffee mysteries, and culinary surprises. Be warned, though--there's a fair amount of yelling, adding a touch of excitement to each meal. Ney Hall Galley, you've made my dining experience unforgettable, and for that, you get a quirky 5-star salute!“
“We enjoyed dinner at the Chanler. We sat on the heated porch overlooking the lights of the city over the water. Steven, our waiter was attentive without being intrusive and clearly loved working at the Chanler. Our drinks were delicious and we LOVED being part of the "battle of the burgers" going on in Newport this month. The food, the drinks, the ambiance....sigh...perfection!“
“The food was really good and the service from our server was great as well. It was very cold inside however. They brought us some popcorn for free for the table which was a nice surprise because none of us had ever been there before and didn’t expect it. We tried the seafood stuffies they were very yummy(the order comes with two of them) we also tried the fried cauliflower which was spicy . For entrees we got the ribs and the steak which were very good and well seasoned the steaks were over cooked which happens in chain restaurants. Will definitely be adding 99 restaurants into our rotation for restaurants when looking for a good quick biteParking: Huge parking lot with lots of stores as wellWheelchair accessibility: I saw a door that looked like it may have a wheelchair entrance and they had plenty of seating for wheelchairs to use as well“
“Great place to eat,We are visiting the United States and not being used to the customs we did not understand that we had to write the amount of the tip on the bill.Yet we really wanted to leave some! The waiter was super friendly and helpful, we caught up and left him the tip in a note on the table. He didn't chase us like some servers would have done, some people should take note!“
“The place looks a little sketchy but inside is clean and nice. Very friendly atmosphere and good service. It's a locals bar but they are very friendly. They didn't have food but they brought in for pizza place. Fun casual atmosphere.“
“In a town guaranteed to deliver delicious seafood, this is the place to get it. Happy hour lunch deal will only set you back $1.50 an oyster. And they’re not small. Settle in with a cheeky beverage and the afternoon on Thames street Newport is all “
“Enjoyed their entry for burger bender,Italian Stallion. The overly stuffed burger was delish. Fried lasagna, meatball, vodka sauce and spinach artichoke mini vat in top of bun. It also had a smashed burger as well. The burger also came with fries. We both voted it the best burger and eating. We got great service from amy, our waitress. We ended up having coffee with key lime crepes. The dining experience was alot of fun. We will be back again, after this fine meal. We enjoyed a nice bottle of broadsideMerlot with dinner, that worked well with the burger.“

“This meal was refreshing to our palate and digestive system from eating heavy this whole trip. We are glad we stumbled onto this establishment. We ordered the hummus plate with veggies and my first time eating watermelon radish, now probably is my favorite veggie. Also my first time eating a wedge salad with a knife but worth it to have the best salad in a lifetime. Oh just to balance it all with a side of fries as I compared to Wingstop (sometimes not hot/fresh) cause that’s my standard of fresh hot good fires. Also not pictured is the Narragansett beer, is easily my favorite beer of all time due to being smooth that isn’t a lite beer, has the fullness of a beer and don’t taste the hopines of it.The service was 3.5 stars because we were the only ones when we placed our order and it took a minute to get our veggie plate…. but after that the other two came in a timely fashion. Service provided was welcoming the moment we walked in. Ambiance we had to imagine cause we were the only two until we had to leave but we imagined the full swing of this place of how lively it can be.**They have good plenty of gluten free options!“
“On a cold night we were out and about wandering around and trying to find some place to eat. This place had such a cozy/nautical vibe but was also very classy. We were seated immediately and our waitress brought us over some water. There are plenty of options for seating : High tops, bar seating and booths. We ended up going with the specials: Korean BBQ Salmon over peanut butter & coconut noodles ; Jerk Chicken Wings, and the crab cakes. Everything was uniquely flavored and the portions were large. We really enjoyed everything we ordered to include our drinks. We'd recommend coming here if you're ever visiting in the area.“
“We stopped here at the recommendation of our hotel. Frozen peanut butter mudslides were awesome. Bartender was very nice. They had limited food available (around 3pm). Hotdogs were good. Really a great place to hang out near the water, away from the crowded warf area. We would go back on our next trip to Newport.“
“First time going there and it was a great experience . The waiter was attentive. The food was delicious. Even the Caesar salad was great. I had the lobster ravioli and it was perfection. My partner had the beef Wellington and they enjoyed it as well . The dessert was satisfying too. I would definitely dine there again !“
