Great steak house in great location in Charleston. The food rivals (or is it better?) than Hall's Steak House, but in a much more elegant vibe. If you want loud and fast, Hall's is your place. Had the Cesar salad and steak frites - both excellent. Meat was perfectly cooked to order.

I've been looking forward to going to this place for quite some time having passed it everyday. We were accommodated without a reservation granted it was a Monday night which is slow so I expected an incredible experience it was the exact opposite. First they don't give you bread for the table you must pay for it in fact you never offered it I had to ask and was informed of such. The prices in this place are comparable to the other well-known steakhouse in Charleston that starts with the letter "H". But based on the differences between the two places this place I think is more of a tourist spot or an overflow when the other steakhouse does not have reservations. The crowd was quite elderly and fairly quiet. Well I could tell you that the ribeye I ordered was charred on the outside nicely but cold and more rare than I had asked for. The mac and cheese with bacon taste its like someone added wood chips to the meal because it was so smoky I felt like I was sitting near a fire. The shrimp cocktail look like they came from Costco which is the one picture on the right. Interestingly that same night I went to the other Steakhouse to get a proper shrimp cocktail which were jumbo and delicious. The drinks were on point but odd that they list the ingredients and then charge for a margarita with tequila?...For the price I cannot say I would recommend this place they were equally expensive if not more than the other steakhouse. The server who will remain nameless was amazing and overcompensated for a lot of the shortcomings that we experienced. Cannot recommend this place.

Alex was incredible and knowledgeable. This was our first time to Charleston and we were so excited to connect with our server!! He has also lived in Brighton, MA. Thank you for an incredible experience that we will never forget!!!

Alex, Michaela, and crew went way above expectations to bring us one of the best restaurant experiences ever. The food was perfect, service was absolutely on point and they made my wife's actual birthday (Feb. 29) amazing. See you all again soon!

What a great evening... Steak was perfect, creamed spinach we highly recommend, wedge perfectly dressed. Only negative & it was minor, the Parkerhouse rolls appetizer were over baked. But we'll be back!

Oak went above and beyond to help make my daughter’s bday a special occasion. When we arrived, there was a personalized card on the table along with a personal gift (they called earlier in the day to ask my daughter’s name and find out what her interests were). My daughter loved it! Additionally, everyone we interacted with, told her Happy Birthday. Our server was attentive, extremely pleasant, and seemed quite knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious, as always - though I would love to see a few more side options. And they offer complimentary valet. If you haven’t been, the Oak is a must!Parking: Complimentary valet

The atmosphere was excellent and our server tried to make things right which is why this isn’t a lesser review but we did not think the food was worthy of the price point at all. Two in our party got chicken which was poorly cooked (okay, fair for a steak restaurant) but the other two in our party got steaks which were also improperly cooked. One was totally charred yet cold and the other was almost completely burnt. They also did not accommodate the allergies in our party well at all. If you have a dairy allergy, this is definitely not the place for you. We asked to swap out the whipped potatoes for some vegetables and it was forgotten and then brought out burnt and charred after everyone else was finished with their meal. Drinks from the bar were also forgotten and we had to follow up with the server multiple times because the waitstaff and server teams didn’t seem to be working well together. It didn’t help that we were seated on the third floor and the kitchen is on the first, so it seemed our food had been sitting for quite some time before being brought to us. Disappointing experience and not worth the price tag. We won’t be back.

Fave restaurant when in Charleston. Always a lively crowd, great service, fantastic menu including classic appetizers, steakhouse mains and sides, and seafood and vegetarian options. Sunday wine special much appreciated. Will be back soon. Thx for the great service Sam!

Food and service were excellent. However, as a two-top, we were seated directly next to a large table with young children who screeched and dropped noisy entertainment via their parents phones the entire time we were dining with them. Additionally, an adult at the table seemed to have a cold, and sneezed and coughed without covering his mouth the entire time as well. Lastly, since the tables were so close, we overheard everything at their table because they talked so loudly. It was difficult to have our own conversation. Truly, the tables are entirely too close to feel comfortable under such circumstances. I wish they had considered this before our arrival and seated us elsewhere, allowing that two-top to be used for a later reservation, perhaps when this group was near the end of their meal. Oak is an excellent fine dining restaurant. This did not emulate that.

As far as noise, there was a rather boisterous group of men sitting in our room - but this was certainly not the restaurant's fault. And they offer complimentary valet. Outstanding dinner at OAK last night, started with a cocktail at the bar, shares a wedge salad and followed by absolutely delicious Steak Frites - superb service - even though it was our first time, it felt like a private club where everyone kinda knew each other, very social and outstanding steak

Our server, Eric, was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive. Our steaks were expertly prepared! Probably the best dry aged steak I've ever had! We will definitely be back!

The 20 ounce bone in dry aged ribeye looked fabulous. Medium rare temperature was perfect as were the seasonings. It became a job to chew it!!! My husband and I shared and are still talking about the toughness of the cut of meat. The asparagus was served cold and mostly raw with olive oil and salt. Cook your steak at home and go somewhere else for dinner.

Hands down our favorite restaurant in Charleston!! After going through a "refresh" the place looks amazing. Our food was delish...from oysters Rockefeller to peanut butter pie...and fabulous steaks in between, everything was spot on! Service is always top tier. You will not be disappointed!! See you again soon Oak!

Fantastic steaks, great portions, wine list isn't huge, but it's got fantastic selections at reasonable prices. Service is top notch. This is a traditional steak house, but in a really beautiful, historic Charleston space. Best of both worlds. (And you can find parking on the street.)
