Swig and swine Ashley River has been my go to place for the BEST BBQ and SIDES around but the last two times has-been far from the standard that made it special, ribs dry and over cooked,turkey in chunks not sliced, brisket in chunks not sliced brisket and beans were Dry ,pork belly had a rank taste is it because of help change ?etc. PLEASE DO SOME QUALITY CONTROL

We placed a take out order during the week. Seeing as they werent very busy, I didnt expect it to take very long. I stood waiting for over 40 minutes for a small order for 2 people, while I watched people who got there after me receive their food way before I got mine. This obviously affects the rating I have given. Anyway, once we actually got our order and drove home to eat it, lll say the food was fine. Mac and cheese was very good, beans were ok. Brisket was fine, though I felt like it could have more flavor. The sauces were terrible. Im not a fan of super sweet sauce and all the ones we got were extremely sweet. The ones claiming to be spicy had no kick whatsoever. We have so much award winning BBQ back home that I'm probably more difficult to impress in this category because I'm constantly comparing it to what we are used to. In my opinion, this was avaerage. I wouldn't return and would try another BBQ place in the area instead.

Happened upon Swig and Swine while looking for a restaurant with outdoor seating, as we are traveling with our dogs. The dog friendly, covered, front patio was spacious enough to accommodate us and our dogs. The menu was fairly typical for a BBQ restaurant. However, the food was good, better by far than another popular, dog friendly, highly rated BBQ place we tried. Both my husband and I had the sausage and brisket, both were very good. Our sides were baked potato salad, corn casserole, and baked beans. The baked potato salad was almost as good as my mother’s potato salad, and that is saying something. Corn casserole was good, the beans were ok. The bourbon pecan pie was very tasty. Overall, highly recommend Swig and Swine.

Our second time here and has become one of our favorites when we’re in town. Both times we’ve sat in the bar area at a high top and been waited on by the bartender and had excellent and friendly service. The brisket is done to perfection. My husband gets the brisket and sides and my favorite is pairing a Magnolia Pecan beer with a brisket salad. We also get a quart of Southern Pate’ a.k.a, Pimento cheese to take with us. Great people, great food a hard combo to pass on which is why we’ll keep returning.

I got a 1/2 slab of ribs to go and they were dry, hard, and burnt. Word to the wise, make sure your ask for fresh ribs. It seems like they'll serve old food at their convenience.

IMPORTANT: I DON'T GENERALLY WRITE REVIEWS.1. Know upfront, there are two separate prices CASH and CREDIT. While generally I say great, totally understand from a business perspective, my Problem with it; ITS NOT ADVERTISED. Gas stations do it for a reason. Its not posted at the front door, not posted on the menu, only when you receive the bill. Menu lists a single price, not a cash/credit price!2. Portions are horrible. The 2-Meat plate advertised for $20 (or 20.67 credit), so I chose Ribs and Brisket. When my plate arrived, it had 3 small Ribs and 2 greasy strips of Brisket, a huge basket of beans, and a huge basket of coleslaw. (No photo, but the description sets the visual)3. We were a party of three, and all of our food arrived COLD, Not hot, Not warm, COLD. No excuses for this.COMPLETELY UNIMPRESSED! For fear of any repercussions of returning the food, we ate our cold food. Paid the unadvertised CREDIT CARD portion of the bill, tipped 18% (almost decided to deducted the CASH/CREDIT difference from the tip, but its the servers call), and departed...NEVER TO RETURN!

Charleston SC is a great place to Visit. Carriage ride tours are a must to begin to learn the history. I loved all the houses- so beautiful. Great walking city. Super restaurants. We also did the harbor cruise and a ghost walking tour. If you are there several days, visit a plantation. We toured Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Slave history tour was very well done.

It's sad that you're trying to support local businesses with Covid going on and they give you food I wouldn't feed my dog. The ribs were dried, tough, and burnt. It appears they were probably several days old. Just beware and ask for fresh ribs if you go there that. SMH.

Omg. The food here was amazing! We got the in house made pork rinds with pimento cheese. I also got the rib platter and the meat was so tender and juicy! My nephew got the pulled pork sandwich and he said it was really good. They have like 5 or 6 different types of BBQ sauce which are on the tables. When the servers bring your food out , they explain the flavors for each one and you can choose what you would like the best. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend!

What a feast! Good beer and good times to be had. The sides were fantastic, especially baked potato salad. Multiple people said the wings were perfectly cooked and meaty. The sauces were all excellent.. try the peanut butter sauce!

We had the family dinner ($59), which included brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage, smoked chicken wings, smoked pork belly, ribs, and three sides of mac and cheese, baked potato salad, and corn pudding. Favorites of the platter were the chicken wings. The spice rub was delicious and it came out crispy. The pulled pork was also great. Nothing really disappointed us. For the sides, the mac and cheese and corn pudding pulled through. It was a baked mac and cheese while the corn pudding was sweet with lots of corn in it.

Omg! If you like BBQ then you've got to come here. You can smell the smoke when you park, you can smell the smoke when you walk in. This is a legit BBQ joint. We had the Pork Rinds w/ blue cheese crumbles and blue cheese mayo. This appetizer was so good! We had the brisket grilled cheese sandwich(2 of us had this sandwich, 1 had corn pudding and 1 had brunswick stew-the brunswick stew was the only thing i had here that I wouldn't order again; it was a little greasy, light on the broth and had a strong canned mixed vegetable flavor w/ some spice) The grilled cheese on the other had was excellent. My youngest has smoked chicken wings, and oldest had The Big Nasty. None of us could finish our lunch. Will definitely come back.

ate here for the first time and was a great sandwich deal on Tuesday / any sandwich on the menu and one side for $10. I had the chopped brisket and it was one of the best brisket sandwich I have had in many years. The place is a little loud and busy but worth it for the food.

Friends of ours had visited Charleston the week before and recommended we try Swig & Swine so I figured I would give it a try. I think we must have just come on an off day because our experience was underwhelming to say the least. My wife got the ribs with a side of Mac and a side of pickled vegetables. The ribs were okay but a little dry. The Mac was okay but the vegetables were over pickled. I tried the two meat platter (brisket and pork belly) with Mac and Beans with Brisket as my sides. Both the brisket and the pork belly were very dry and over cooked. The Mac was again decent but the beans were under cooked and didn't have much in the way of taste. Given all the great reviews and my friends recommendation I am guessing I just went on a bad day.
