This is a legit old school lunch counter. The ladies in the kitchen even wear those apron shirts over their tops. If you've been to H&R Sweet Shop in Mt P, it has a similar vintage vibe. They have a limited menu with daily specials too. The food isn't anything special, but it's all familiar and classic with reasonable prices to match. We've loved the Idle Hour since we started going there about 20 years ago. It's still owned and operated by Dolly, she's pretty much a North Charleston icon. If you want local, casual, reasonably priced food, this is a great place to go. We like the daily specials (ham, lima beans & rice, souhern style cabbage, mac'n'cheese, etc) and their chili burgers are really good! Don't be expecting trendy farm fresh. Awsome food and service. So far I've had the chili cheese burger hamburger steak with the mushrooms and onions, beef stew lima bean and bowl of chille, all great home cooked food
