The service was great, but the atmosphere and food were too generic, pedestrian at best. Our food was lacking in flavor. The atmosphere had modern pop music versus Japanese music. Cafeteria style seating. The food was freshly cooked, though. Fuji had more flavor. Japan House in Spartanburg has a unique side items menu delightful to order from and easy to substitute for a meal. Baked mussels, tempura shrimp, and noodles are just a few of the delicious sides available. I prefer their egg rolls to most of the restaurants in the area. Their tempura vegetables include a broccoli, mushroom, onion, sweet potato, cauliflower, and squash, and the vegetable pieces are oversized, tasty, and filling. Gyoza dumplings are an A-one choice.
