Service was wonderful. Food was fantastic. I don't give five stars often, but this was well deserving. Even when they made a mistake they replaced. It immediately would definitely come again. Highly recommend wished I had tried one of their lattes saw it too late. They looked delicious and the pancakes made with French toast batter ... WOW

What they lack in standard processes and efficiency, they make up for in blame and excuses. If you're going to get in the restaurant industry you owe it to the guests, employees, and the industry as a whole to have a clue as to what you're doing. This place is set up for failure from the top down. There was a party of 4 that came in about 5 minutes after us, they were told only a 3 top is available and they'd have to wait. We offered to change to the 3 top so they could accommodate them. Our waitress was very nice and sweet but obviously inexperienced/untrained. After we ordered food we were informed of a long kitchen time. We were hesitant but, ultimately said that's fine as long as our order gets in before the party that came after us. I said this in a joking manner but, obviously serious. We ordered and asked her to check with the kitchen for an estimated time. She never did return to inform us how long the wait would be. Never came with setups or water. The owner only seemed to greet the tables he knew once they were finished eating. We didn't see him assist his two front-liners at all. No one ever checked on us or said it would be coming out in X amount of minutes. We waited an hour and five minutes and were nothing but polite and patient the whole time. Then they served the party of 4 before us. Not only were we upset at this point, we also knew that if that ticket just came out, the next ticket could have only just been started--It was time to go.We never said anything rude to the staff. Just simply asked to move on with our day. They said the food was coming out "right now". It couldn't have been true as they do one ticket at a time.Even if it was, I wouldn't have stayed. Our waitress was obviously at her limit and she left in tears. I hope for her sake that she quit. We felt awful for her being put in that position. It was probably her first job ever and she is clearly untrained and unequipped to handle an entire floor with outdoor seating. Not her fault at all. The other employee on the floor had no problem jumping to her defense. She mentioned something about their kitchen being too small (Excuse#1). We offered to pay for the drinks but the owner was nice enough to comp our coffee and tea.As the door was swinging shut behind us I heard one of the staff say "We told them it was a long wait time at the door" (Excuse#2). I poked back in just to clarify that absolutely was not true.We also wanted to check on the girl that was upset and make sure she wasn't punished in some way by the owner. The one employee remaining informed us that wasn't the case. And that it was just all the rude customers like us coming in (Excuse#3). We informed her that there is probably a lot of upset customers because they don't know what they're doing. At this point we were asked to leave. They didn't offer to make up for their shortcoming, they didn't do anything to try to remedy the situation. They just pulled out excuses and blamed the customers. They basically said everything that you never say to a guest in the customer service industry.Just a tip for any staff reading this. When you can only handle one table at a time, and your ticket times are an hour, you better get the priority right. The owner owes it to himself and the employees to get some proper training in there. It strikes me as the type of place that someone decided to get into the industry without knowing about or having worked in that industry. It's disrespectful to get into something without proper training and education. It's disrespectful to the staff, the guests, and the industry as a whole.I will say, the place does have potential and the food did look good. Hopefully, one day, they can pull their act together. At the end of the day it's a basic breakfast diner.

Waited over an hour and DID NOT EATOrdered basic food: not much prep time neededtomato pie/potato salad, bacon, eggs, hash brown, and biscuitAfter an hour I decided to check on the delay to find people who came after us were getting their food before us.I asked to pay for our tea and coffee so we could move on that one hour was extremely long to wait for basic food. They were kind to say we didn't have to pay for our drinks... but our food was on the way out. We did not see our food so we continued to leave the restaurant. On the way out we heard an employee say that we were told when we walked in that the food wait was going to be "a long wait." We proceeded to walk back into the establishment to explain that we were not told that until after we ordered our food. We asked that the waitress give us an estimated time so we could decide if we wanted to stay or go. She never returned to give us the "long wait" time. When leaving we noticed an employee who was very discouraged throughout our visit leave the restaurant in tears. She was someone I noticed as trying her best but getting frustrated by the lack of operations at the restaurant. I proceeded back into the restaurant to ask why she was so upset. I was concerned for her and did not want her tears to be over us complaining and leaving. The one waitress left looked stunned that I noticed and replied, She is fine and that all day people have been very rude to her/us. I commented by saying I wonder why people would be this way after noticing that no one knows what they are doing nor does the owner (who was present)didn't know the first thing about running a restaurant. The waitress then proceeded to say I needed to leave. After re-thinking about the entire situation... from the time we stepped in without even getting noticed from the owner sitting at the entrance on his computer, to overhearing the waitress turn down a family due to space (so we changed tables to accommodate the family to stay), lack of customer service, people coming in and leaving without food, employees frustrated, owner confronting a table of "regulars" by saying... "oh I noticed you didn't have to wait as long as you usually do." when they had been there an hour, and then finding the table we switched with receive their food before us.... I was finally able to realize why this place was such a horrible experienceTHE OWNER: He has no clue on what he is doing, lacks training his young discouraged employees, rarely helps/supports his staff, has no system for the kitchen (one order at a time with nothing prepared) the two items I ordered should have been prepared prior to opening, and should not be in the restaurant business. We do not blame the staff and actually feel sorry that they have been put into this environment to receive grumpy guests, lack of support/ training, and set up for failure.

I recommend eating here! Cute, clean, unique place; yummy food in a small town. Also appreciated they had non dairy milk options and outdoor seating. Just be mindful of how busy they are vs. the number of their staff. Their staff was very nice but obviously outnumbered so it took an hour to get the food. I could tell they were doing their best tho.

The place is small but decorations add to the charm. There is a small gift shop which is a plus. The servers were super friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful…. So yummy. They have a unique selection of food and beers. I definitely would recommend this place!

Quaint little restaurant on Main Street in Walhalla. Love the "boat" table. Courteous wait staff. The chef/cook perfectly cooked my eggs & bacon both days we went there. Absolutely delicious lattes in many flavors! You've got to go there to try at least 1. Best of all, this was the only restaurant open for breakfast on a holiday weekend so I give them 10 stars just for that! Thank you Gather Uptown.

Great service, great coffee and great food! We showed up on a Sunday at the last second as we were running behind. Super accommodating even so close to closing time. We visited for breakfast the next day and both the owner Greg and staff were great! Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Very slow service. Took 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Sub par food quality. Skillet potatoes were mushy, grits had no flavor and the avocado toast was nothing more than smashed avocado, no flavor or seasoning. Kitchen staff was upset and we could hear them cussing. Overall disappointing.

Driving through downtown Walhalla you may miss this place entirely. We happened to see the open sign just cruising around for a quick bite and decided to pop in. We were absolutely thrilled at the quality of customer service, food, attention to local detail in their decor, and overall atmosphere of the place. The specials are incredible. We got the Tomato Pie which doesn't appear on their menu often, but when it does, get it! The Rueben was also phenomenal. Overall wonderful experience and will likely start making this a recurring Sunday lunch spot.

Great little place to eat after a hike. I live in a small nearby town and Gather Uptown is always a great stop in Walhalla. Love bringing family here to sit outside with a sandwich and beer. Great food and super nice staff.
