Great and impressive place! The filet was outstanding!Parking: Very limited parking due to construction and a busy downtown atmosphere. If you can walk, I would suggest just using the parking ramp in the square and enjoy the walk.

Not too bad an experience but definitely on a expensive side for the food and ambience. The restaurant itself probably goes with the historical theme but decorations, food, beverages and seating area are just not as fancy and worthy of the 5☆ price. $250 for 2 with 4 house drinks.

Place is not as upscale as you'd expect for being atop the Alex Johnson Hotel. Our waiter was not very quick and it was their first day but that was fine. Prices are fairly high for the portion, and the drink prices are that of a sports arena. Honestly, a once experience is enough type place. The Lobster risotto was good - but $50 was a bit much.

I'm going to keep this as professional as I can while expressing my severe disappointments in this place. My 1-star is not a reflection of the food quality or the service. It's reflection of business decisions that contradict the very point of being a member in the first place.First you increase memberships from $250 to $350 a yearThen you let Juniper take over and instead of it being a bar that serves food, it's now a restaurant that serves drinks. I'm not paying a membership to eat at a restaurant nor do I want to go to a restaurant to have a cocktail. Our business now goes to Windsor Block. Then you trim down a menu that is half the size of the previous, increase menu prices, and get rid of the half of appetizers for members. Then you choose not to serve any food (even from Paddys) on Sundays which is the one day members get their half priced cocktails benefit. Now I just found out that you're no longer offering the BOGO drinks at Paddys anymore for Vertex members?!What in the world are you guys doing and what are we actually paying for? Oh I'll let everyone know. The wonderful benefits of being a member:- The privilege of entering the restaurant.- Complimentary valet but only during vertex hours.- Half priced cocktails on Sundays when they don't serve food.- $20 in free play at Tin Lizzy and Cadillac Jack'sThat's it....for $350 annually...We used to go to Vertex every Sunday and Tuesday for years and we haven't been up since the Juniper takeover. If you're considering being a member, take that money and donate it to charity instead because you're now just paying $350 for the privilege of riding an elevator up to a restaurant.

Petite filet was top notch, service was excellent (Sam is lovely!). Very jazzed about this restaurant especially since I usually stay at the hotel for work trips. Can't wait to come back!

Ever since Juniper has moved in it's awkward. When you come up the elevator with the intent just to go to the vertex (with membership or room reservation), the hostesses give you an unwelcome feeling for walking through "their" restaurant to get to the bar. Next, when you're ordering at the bar, the waitresses aren't friendly and are rude as they will step in front of you behind the bar to get a drink for THEIR tables. Thankfully some of the OG bartenders stuck around, but I don't think for much longer, as the Juniper staff treat them rudely too and you can feel the animosity in the work environment.Lastly, bc you can just tell the front desk you have a reservation, even if it's a lie, and get on the rooftop bar where they have proceeded to smoke weed and make the whole place awful. There doesn't seem to be a feeling of exclusivity any longer with having a membership. I used to love going to Juniper when it was in the gap. But now it seems the prices have risen and portions have shrunk. Last time our food wasn't even warm once received and when you're spending $100 for 2 people plus drinks, you'd think they would care. However, once again you get this feeling from the wait staff that the bar and its customers are an inconvenience to them, so they had the bartenders service us for food.It would've made more sense to keep a "light fare" menu or had options from patties for the bargoers but instead when you're buying a drink that's already spendy, you won't be ordering a $60 steak that's subpar. In this economy and city, nobody has that type of income. So while my husband and I wait for our vertex membership to lapse that we certainly will not renew due to the issues listed, we will probably eat ahead of time or bring up food from Patty's or Hardees for that matter.I know the journal said that AJ was helping Juniper with this move, but I don't think firing all their staff, so they could bring on Juniper feels more like a kick in the teeth. Based on their pricing model, it's more likely the bar is doing better financially than the restaurant so perhaps treating bar patrons with loyalty, smiles and better pricing could go a long way to melding Juniper and Vertex. The bread basket is the only thin affordable on the menu at the restaurant so if you want to spend $15 on small bread with fancy butter, you certainly will not be satisfied.

I had never experienced the Juniper before, and so I thought this was going to be the best treat for myself I'd ever allowed myself. We had name reservations for the roof top, were seated inside. Our Prime Rib, supposed to be medium well, and medium... Were extremely rare, and still mooing practically and cold. And our potatoes were burned black, no amount of ketchup could fix. And the bread service appetizer was like eating rocks. Our server was polite enough, just obviously preoccupied with others that possibly looked like they would leave a bigger tip. So all in all?? Feeling more than guilty than I thought I would, and even more disappointed with the customer service & hospitality industries that I have dedicated my life to perfecting, when clearly, not many others do...

Well done! Our first experience at this new location and see really enjoyed ourselves. There were a few small hiccups, but the wait staff and kitchen are getting things figured out. The food was delicious, and the portions were healthy without the need to take home leftovers. Items are pricy here, but you're not visiting Juniper for a fast food experience.Order a second drink and tip your server well. Juniper is a Rapid City staple that I hope sticks around for years to come.
