As a New Orleanian, food is #1. So while traveling, I'm always looking to be impressed. In this case, my Midwestern husband was driving and I was at home suggesting his lodgings and entertainments. When I saw "G's Detroit Sausages" on the Chattanooga map, I knew what I wanted for souvenirs from his trip. But could he? Would they pack up my meat products for another day and night on the road? Answer: YES. And not only did Corey lovingly package my pre-paid selections in an ice chest for no extra charge, he also made smart substitutions – like someone who wants to feed you and knows his smoky eats are going to please, regardless of what you end up with. From the 'turkey ribs' that pack an unusual amount of meat to the boneless pulled meat that sends up a cloud of smoky goodness whenever I open the zipper bag, G's delivers on the promise of tasty and satisfying. This is the kind of labor-intensive food that one expects to spend a lot on, but it was actually the prices that gave me the green light to load up my cart with a variety of goodies. Now I want to go back and try everything I missed. Can't wait to get into that andouille, cher!

I wanted to like this place. I do love the service and vibe. The food on my initial visit did not impress and they were out of what I came to order. Maybe I will try it again to see if my initial visit was a one-off.
